An Ottumwa, Iowa Roller Derby Evening

Whew, what a fun filled evening I had.  I’m still hanging out in Ottumwa, Iowa and man oh man, my Iowa friends did not let me down when it came to entertainment.  Check it out, we went to watch the ladies Roller Derby.

Oskaloosa Mayhem Girls Roller Derby

The home town team, Oskaloosa Mayhem Girls (OMG) are a force to be reckoned with!   They put a hurt’n on the Cedar Valley Push up Brawlers and won the bout.  I’m a people watcher and the crowd was just as entertaining as the Roller Derby Ladies, lol.

But wait, who are these rough looking characters in the penalty box?

Check it out, my Iowa friends and I just had to have a picture taken of us in the penalty box.

Roller Derby ladies make up great Roller Derby names, such as, Spankins, Shear Evil, Kickn Ash, T-Erin it Up, PattyWhackerHer, Short Fuze.

So in the spirit of the Roller Derby, I made up my own Roller Derby name “Road Kill”, lol.   What would your Roller Derby name be?   Think tough.       Leave it in the comment section, I would love to hear it.

I think I may even have  a stamp set to give away to the person with the best Roller Derby name!!!!

Thanks goes out to my Iowa friends.  Ladies you ROCK!!!!

May you not have to pick yourself up off of the floor.

Until my next post. . . . . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle

Sounds like you all had a lot of fun. Years ago I remember watching the roller derby on tv. Hmmm names…what would I choose. Too many good ones maybe Cruella de Kill or Shrieking Violet (mom’s name is Violet). OOoh how about, Miss Chief or Miss Creant, or Mis Take, or Miss Da Meaner. This is so much fun, I could go on & on, but I’ll stop. Thanks for indulging me and letting me have some fun.

    Cheers!

I didn’t read through all the comments before me, so I really hope no one has shared this one yet… in the spirit of common interest, how about “Stampin’ ‘er out or Stompin’ Down? 😉

Or… on second thought, I also like “Polly Wanna Smacker?” which just came to me. I’ll probably be thinking of these things all night now! 🙂

Use to roller skate as a kid at a local rink and miss the fun times. How about “Stamp Her Out”? Sounds like you had a great time. Isn’t it fun to experience something new outside our usual comfort zone?

Hahaha….how about “the Pot Holes” for a team name!! Just thinking how I would look on a pair of roller skates at this time in my life….yup it would look like I was going over a ton of pot holes!!!

    This was fun!

I used to love watching roller derby as a kid and the name that still stands out is “skinny mini Miller” not too tough sounding, but she was a force to be reckoned with!! If I was using my own name I’d be Mish the Maulin’ Maven!! If I just wanted a kick butt name it’d hafta be “Chuckie Norris” Hah, Hah!!! Thanks for the fun Michelle!! Looks like you had an awesome time with the gals. Oh the places you go and the things you see with this wonderful talent you have. Thanks so much for all you share. Life is just the best, isn’t it?!! Just LIVE IT!!! Hugs~

My daughter has been on a roller derby team for several years and I LOVE going to the bouts!
Her team name is Farm Fresh Roller Girls and her name is Frannie Fracture (she’s a nurse).

Watched her team play against another team on which Danielle D from American Pickers skated. The only time I witnessed an all-out brawl between the two teams! Took about 10 refs to break them up! LOL This was a couple of years ago in Dav. IA. I’ll tell you what…Dani and her sisters are rough! I don’t think Dani does roller derby any more.

My name if I skated…BUS-TIN BOOTY. (I drive a school bus)

  7. hmmmmm… this is way more difficult than I thought it would be. How about “Jawbreak Her”, “Jo Die” or “Jo To Hell”? I couldn’t think of one, then I thought of three haha

I would be Stormstinger, because the storms in Iowa pack a punch with a lingering sting. And because I have a grandson named Storm…although he is my Storm the gentle….LOL
