This must be working outside of the box week. Yesterday I created punch art, which I hardly ever do and today I’m playing with Stampin’ Up! Watercolor pencils to get a much softer and painted look to one of the images in the Best Birds stamp set. I was super surprised by how different the image looks with this technique. I like to give it a loose look with watercolor, no need to worry about coloring all those little details.
Yep, watercolor pencils are not just for coloring flowers. That seems to be the rut most folks get into when they pull out those lovely pencils. Try them on critters, it’s so fun to see their transition into watercolor.
Also, no two will look exactly alike, so fun! I love the one on the bottom with the watercolor even looser. It looks frazzled and I can aways relate to that!

It’s a little out of the norm for me to do punch art but, I got this idea for a cute aerial view of a coffee mug in my head and I just had to get it down in ink and card stock. It actually turned out better than I could have imagined. I hope it gets you inspired to get inky today too.

I love, love, love the new Stampin’ Up! Blueberry Bushel ink. It’s that bright and cool blue which is terrific for night skies when paired up with Night of Navy and Balmy Blue as seen in today’s project.
I used a couple of stamp sets to mix up the trees in my scene to give it a more realistic look with depth. I hope it inspires you to get inky today!
