Brrrr, I’ve got a chilly but cute card scene for you today. I pulled the Deckled Circle Dies out and teamed them up with the Winter Owls stamp and dies bundle for this one. The deckled circle dies make the fluffiest snowman and instead of a hat, I decided to have one of those awesome owls land there for a chilly perch.
This is a big sized card and will fit perfectly into a #10 sized business envelope.

I know, I don’t share recipes much on this blog but, when you run across a must have recipe to share, you just have to. My darling husband, Russ asked that I make some chocolate chip cookies that are big and thick. Well, I just had to do my best to find that perfect chocolate chip cookie for my man and this recipe is hands down the best cookie I’ve ever eaten. This would be a cookie worth packaging in cello bags and adding a stamped topper too for sure. So, without further ado. . . ..
Thick Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter softened (if using salted butter, leave out the salt)
1 cup brown sugar firmly packed (use light, dark, or a blend of the two)
½ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs room temperature preferred
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups cake flour (I believe cake flour is the secret to these cookies)
2 Tablespoon cornstarch
2 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon salt
2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Combine butter and sugars in a large mixing bowl and use an electric mixer to beat until light and well-creamed.
Add eggs and vanilla extract and stir well.
In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, stirring until completely combined.
Add chocolate chips and use a spatula to fold in until well distributed.
Cover bowl and chill for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat oven to 375F.
Once dough has chilled, uncover and scoop into ⅓-cup sized scoops (I use an ice cream scoop). Drop onto prepared baking sheet, spacing at least 2” apart, and bake for 13-14 minutes, until edges are just beginning to turn light golden brown. Allow cookies to cool before removing from the baking sheet, cookies will be fragile and prone to breaking while warm and will appear under-baked in the center if they’re broken into before they’re cooled completely.

Today I was wanting to make some anniversary cards and I came up with this cute little scene using one of the birds from the Bird’s Eye View stamp set from Stampin’ Up! I love the way the birds look when tilted toward each other and all snuggled up. In my step by step video below you can see just how the background was created along with that large moon. I hope this blog post finds you having the best October ever. I love Fall and so I’m super happy right now, hope you are too.
Here in Ohio the trees are changing color and the corn and soy bean fields have been harvested, pumpkins are every where! This all turns my crafting mind to Fall scenes, of course. Today was no exception. I created a windy scene with a single leaf blowing away. Typical Fall scene.
I also used a negative die cut like a stencil to get a different look from my dies and better value. Be sure to look at those dies you have, can you use the negative shape left in the card stock you normally throw away as a stencil. If so, die cut it and store it with your dies to reuse without having to die cut it again. 🙂
