Rubbed the Crumb Cake ink pad directly on a 5″ square of First Edition DSP.

Rubbed the Whisper White Pad in the middle of the paper.

Sponged Cherry Cobbler ink around the edges of the paper.

Stamped the cupcake stamp on a scrap of the First Edition DSP and then cut out the icing part of the design and used it backwards.

Sponged Crumb Cake ink on around the edges.

Added Soft Suede ink around the very edge of the icing and the edge of the 5″ square.

Stamped the cup cake on Regal Rose card stock and then cut the cup cake paper out.

Distressed the edges of the cupcake paper by dragging it across the Soft Suede ink pad.

Punched 2 sizes of ovals out of Pool Party card stock.   Sponged Pool Party ink around the edges of the smaller oval.

Punched the cherry out of Regal Rose card stock using the cup cake punch.   Note:  I like the shape of the stamped cupcake better than the punched cupcake that is why I used it instead of just punching a cupcake out.  You may choose to do it the easy way, grin.

Colored the stem of the cherry using Basic Black marker and the the cherry using Cherry Cobbler marker.  I left a bit of the Regal Rose card stock showing for a highlight.

Cut the sentiment out of Basic Black card stock using Timeless Type Alphabet Dies and the Big Shot Machine.

Assembled the card front adding a 5.75″ square Basic Black panel, 5.5″ Regal Rose Panel, 5 1/8″ Pool Party Panel and Pool Party Ribbon.

Added some dots to the right and bottom sides of the Regal Rose card stock using the Mat Pack template for placement and a Basic Black marker.

Added a shadow under the cupcake and White Gel pen lines on the icing.

Added White Gel Pen dots to the sentiment.

Added Basic Black Brads to the ribbon using a piercing tool to start the brads.

Added Crystal effects to the cherry and the white gel pen lines to add some shine to the project.   (The crystal effects goes on looking milky but dries to a clear shine).

Added Blushing Bride marker underneath the icing  to create a shadow and some depth.

Here is the finished card measuring 6.75″ square.

May your day be perfectly sweet!

Until my next post. . . . .  . . .

Brian Haggard Inspired Butterfly Tutorial #497

You just never know when you will be inspired.    This past weekend I had the honor of getting to teach my brayer workshops in the amazing, amazing, amazing, did I say AMAZING, studio of Brian Haggard in Indianapolis, Indiana.   Brian Haggard is a fabulous artist.  You should see what he does with fabric!   When I was in his studio I just didn’t know what to look at first because everything was so very beautiful.   Brian is the author of Crazy Quilt Memories.  You can CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT along with his blog.     Brian thank you so much for opening up your studio to me and my students.  Also a big thank you goes out to Sandy Elliot for hosting us.

Okay, so these unsuspecting students, Kate Bell and Cathy Yamashita caught me when I was quite slap happy after teaching all day for this photo op.  That will teach them, lol.   Thanks ladies for being such good sports.  Brayer On!

Although my project is not made from fabric, I was inspired by Brian Haggard’s work to do a piece with a fabric feel.   I hope you like it.  I had fun creating this tutorial for you.  Enjoy and happy Monday!

Started with a scrap piece of River Rock card stock.  Stamped the vine image from the Stampin’ Up! set Best Friends Forever using Versamark.    Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Punched a butterfly out of the embossed card stock, lining the vine image up in the punch so it is best highlight.  (Sorry for the shaky photo, too much caffeine this morning, lol)

Sponged Cherry Cobbler ink all over the butterfly punch.

Sponged Early Espresso ink in the center of the butterfly.

Stamped the vine image 3 times using Versamark on a 4″ square piece of River Rock card stock.   Heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Sponged More Mustard ink all over the card stock.

Sponged Soft Suede ink on the card stock.

Sponged Early Espresso ink on the card stock.

Stamped the vine twice on a scrap piece of River rock card stock and heat embossed the two images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Punched the images out using a 1 3/4″ circle punch.

Held the two circles together and cut one side off of them.

Sponged Early Espresso ink all over them.

Assembled the card adding a 5.25″ Early Espresso panel, 5 1/8″ River Rock panel and a 4 1/8″ Cherry Cobbler panel.  Popped the butterfly up using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Added Gold Brads to the circles and the butterfly center.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.25″ square.

May your day be filled with love and laughter.

We Have a Blog Candy Winner!

Hi There,

So sorry, no tutorial today.   I was asked to create a picture to be used at the Zindorf Family Reunion.  A new painting/picture  is done each year and matted.  Everyone in attendance at the reunion signs the mat and then a name is drawn and one of the attendees gets to keep it.  Well this is what I came up with this morning.  It’s a large piece 8.5″ x 10.5″.  I used the Stampin’ Up stamp set Season of Friendship.  Just thought I would share it with you.  I bet my past Advanced Brayer Students can figure this scene out.  Anyhow, I hope everyone at the reunion likes it.

Sweet Bunny – Tutorial #496

Hey There,

I’m working on Wedding Invitations for my youngest Son’s wedding but, I took some time out this morning to do a little recreational stamping.  The Stampin’ Up! set “Everybunny” that I used here is too stinking cute!  I think this card could be used both for a baby card or for Easter.

Anyhow, I’m itching to get out in my garden since our temperatures here in Ohio have been a wonderful 70 degrees.  Along with the daffodils popping up I’m also seeing some weeds.  I best get out there this afternoon and start heading them off before they take over.     So how has your temperatures been?  Mild I hope.

Punched a 2.5″ circle from Whisper White Card stock.

Brayer Bashful Blue ink at the top of the circle.

Brayer Lucky Limeade ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Stamped the bunny using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Colored the bunny in using a white gel pen.

Added a shadow to the bunny’s ear, left side of his face and his paws.

Colored the egg using a Blush Blossom marker.

Added a shadow to the bottom of the egg using a Blushing Bride marker and then added just a bit of Regal Rose at the very bottom of the egg.

Used the Sahara Sand marker below the egg to color in the shadow.

Used the Big Shot machine and the Small Dots Texture plate on a 4.75″ x 6.25″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

Taped the edge of my card stock to a glass mat.

Used Stampin’ Up Circle Scissors to cut two circle rings, one from Blushing Bride card stock and one from Bashful Blue card stock.   The Bashful Blue one is smaller than the Blushing Bridge one.

Adhered the rings and the main image circle to the textured panel.

Punched two Bashful Blue window punches and held them together and cut one end off of them.

Ahered the word window punches to the card stock and then added brads around the top of the bashful Blue ring.

Added Whisper White Ribbon and a Blushing Bride panel 6.5″ x 5″.

The finished card measures 5″ x 6.5″.

May you get to feel the sun on your face today.

Until my next post. . . . .  . . .

Recycle Time – Oatmeal Container/Spare Toilet Paper Holder- Tutorial #495

Hey There,

Thought I would do a little recycling today.  Actually, I have been saving Oatmeal containers for a while and decided today is the day to recycle them into something useful after I tripped over them when getting something out of the closet (*@*!$&).  You know how it goes, lol.

So today’s project is a spare toilet paper holder made out of an oatmeal container.  The container will hold 2 rolls of TP.  🙂   I used the Stampin’ Up! set Mixed Bunch (item number 125537) and the coordinating Punch, Punch Blossom (item number 125603), Designer Series Paper and card stock.

It’s not everyday you see a picture of a toilet here on my blog, lol.

Let’s hop right into the tutorial. . . .

Using double sided sticky tape, taped 2 sheets of designer series paper to the oatmeal container so that it goes all the way around.  The papers measured 12″ x 9.5″ each.

Added a coordinating designer series paper cut into 1″ strips on the bottom and the top of the container.

Traced the container lid on a piece of designer series paper and cut it out.  I cut inside of the drawn line so the circle would fit inside of the ridge on the top of the lid.

Stamped the flowers using Baja Breeze ink on Whisper White card stock.  Punched them out using the Punch Blossom Punch.

Stamped the center on Whisper White card stock using Crumb Cake ink and then punched them out using a 3/4″ circle punch.

Added a pearl to the center of the flowers.

Added a Soft Suede Punch Blossom Punch under each flower and pearls to the top edge of the lid.

Added a Crumb Cake Ribbon around top of the container.

And 3 flowers to the front.  Here is the finished one.

Here is one made in different colors by my friend Max.  🙂

Great way to spend some time with a friend and recycle.  🙂

May your day be filled with smiles.

Until my next post. . . . .  . . .
