Brayered So Saffron ink on the bottom of the card stock.

Brayered More Mustard ink at the bottom of the card stock, not covering the So Saffron ink entirely.

.

Brayered River Rock ink at the top of the card stock.

Brayered Daffodil Delight ink at the top of the card stock not covering the River Rock ink entirely.

Loaded the wonderfully Worn Background stamp with More mustard ink and dabbed the card stock face down onto the stamp design.  This gives you a really random pattern.

Continued to do the same thing, only with Cajun Craze ink and then Soft Suede ink.

Sponged Soft Suede ink over the bottom half of the card stock, lightly.

Using the Stampin’ Up Bird punch (item number 117191) punched the bird out of Basic Black card stock.

Adhered the bird and the wing to the card stock and added knobby legs to the bird with a Basic Black marker.

Using the negative part of the punched card stock as a mask, sponged Basic Gray ink inside the bird mask.

Added legs to the shadow bird lightly using a Basic Black marker and connecting them to the originals birds feet.

Sponged just a bit of Basic Black ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Stamped the writing from the Stampin’ Up set Charming (item #116519) using Soft Suede ink.

Cut 7, 1/2″ Basic Black card stock strips.

Held them together in groups and cut one end off at an angle.

Layered a 4.75″ x 6.25″ Soft Suede card stock panel on a 5″ x 6.5″ Basic Black panel and sponged Cajun Craze ink around the edges of the card stock.

Layered my Main image panel on a 4 1/8″ x 4 5/8″ Basic Black panel.  Assembled the card front.  Adhered the Basic Black card stock strips to the card front and cut the ends flush with the card front.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be Golden!

Until my next post. . .  . . .

Hugs,

Michelle

Just Believe – Tutorial #375

Good Morning!  I’m currently in Soledad, California.  Traveled here yesterday and was greeted by my wonderful Hostess, Sherrie Ceja.  We spent the afternoon taking in the breath taking views of Monterey, Carmel and the fisherman’s Warf.   I took lots of pictures and will share them in a later post.

I tried really hard to get this card tutorial posted on Thursday before I left, but time just ran out.  So I am up early today, California time, lol, posting away.  Hang out a moment and check out this tutorial using a directional brayer technique that gives you a great lighting effect for those flower stamps you have.  I know you have a few flower stamps stashed away, all stampers do.  🙂

Now let’s get started. . . . . . .

Supplies:

Paper: Stampin’ Up Cajun Craze, Old Olive and Whisper White
Ink: Stampin’ Up Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze, Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke, Old Olive and Basic Black

Blustery Day – Tutorial #374

Today I am thinking a bit ahead to those cold Ohio Wintry days.  I do so love to be snug in my house, with no where to go, looking out on a scene such as this.   I make out my schedule each year so I find myself  home for the half of November and the entire month of December.  It gives me something to look forward to all year and allows me extra time to prepare for the holidays and to create new and exciting workshop projects for the coming year.

But before I get all comfy for the Winter, I do have one more trip to make this year and that is to sunny Soledad, California this weekend.  I know, poor me, lol.  I have to go to California!   I am very excited and cannot wait to get there.  My workshop hostess, Sherrie Ceja has already hinted we would check out some views in Monterey the day I arrive, woohoo!  Also, my students in California are always so very, very friendly and talented.  This is probably my 4th trip to California and my last one until 2012.  I don’t know how I managed it, but California did not make it on my Workshop Calendar for 2011.  So, if you would like info on my Brayer Workshops this weekend in California CLICK HERE.

On another note, now you know I love each and everyone one of my readers and I share my projects with you freely when a lot of others charge for them.  I created this sight so you may learn my techniques and be inspired to create your own designs, not steal my designs.  I hate to put this out to everyone, when there have just been a few that have infringed on my rights.   So bare with me,  I feel I must point out my copyright, it is on the top right side of my blog and has been on my blog since day one.  Please, please don’t infringe on my copyright or the copyright of others that have inspired you.  My copyright reads as follows:

Something to Crow About – Tutorial #370

I know it is very odd, but I love these crows from the Stampin’ Up! set Graveyard Gala.  I have used them so much in the past year or so.  Don’t ask me why they appeal so much to me, because I don’t have an answer for you, lol.

Any how, I paired them up with the Stampin’ Up stencil I still had sitting on my desk from my last tutorial.    It really gave me a different look using the stencil with Basic Black ink.    I’m envisioning wrought iron here.

This is one project where I just kept adding things in order to get more depth in the scene.    Hope you hang  out a moment to check out the tutorial below or better yet, give this card a try.

Let’s get started. . .  .

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Graveyard Gala, Lovely as a Tree
Paper: Stampin’ Up! Old Olive, Whisper White and Basic Black
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Not Quite Navy, Peach Parfait, Basic Black and Old Olive
Accessories: Stampin’ Up Sponges, Basic Black marker, Brayer Curly Label Punch, Post it Note, Mostly Vintage Decor Stencil, 1 3/8″ circle punch and Post it notes

Started with a 3″ x 5.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  Punched a 1 3/8″ circle from the sticky part of a post it note and used it to mask my moon.

Brayered Not Quite Navy at the top of the card stock.

Brayered Peach Parfait ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Removed the moon mask and lined up my stencil on the card stock.

Sponged Basic Black ink in the stencil design.

Removed the stencil.

Stamped the two crows using Basic Black ink.

Colored in the center tree in the stamp from the Stampin’ Up set Lovely as a Tree using a Basic Black Marker.  Huffed on the stamp and stamped it on my card stock.

Tore a couple of small hill shapes in the sticky part of a post it note.  Used this to mask for my hill.

Sponged Old Olive ink in the bottom area of the card stock.

Moved the mask down and over a bit and sponged Old Olive ink in for the second hill.

Extended the trunk of the tree and colored in the two crows using a Basic Black marker.

Punched one curly label punch out of Basic Black card stock.  Cut the punch in half.

Added two Basic Black panels and one Old Olive panel to the main image panel.

Adhered the punches to the card stock, butting them up against the smaller Basic Black panel.

Added 4 gold brads.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

Well I am off to Colorado tomorrow to visit my Sister.  I best get packing.

Have a super fun and exciting Autumn week all while keeping the Ghost and Goblins at bay.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Huge Hugs,

Michelle

Started with a 4.5″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  Masked the bottom of the card stock with a post it note that I ripped the top edge off of.

Brayered Baja Breeze ink at the top of the card stock.  Baja Breeze is an excellent icy color for winter cards.

Stamped the trees from the Stampin’ Up Lovely as a Tree set using Baja Breeze ink.

Removed the mask.

Colored the deer stamp in, omitting the antlers using a Soft Suede Marker.  Huffed on the stamp and then stamped it on my project.

Colored the image in darker using the same Soft Suede marker.

Stamped the Stampin’ Up Stamp Dasher on the slick side of my Stamp-a-ma-jig plastic sheet using Basic Black ink.  Quickly turned it over onto my project and rubbed the back of the plastic to transfer the image from the plastic to the card stock.

Note the image does not come out crystal clear.  It gives you enough detail to color it in.

Colored the Deer in using a Basic Black marker.

Added White Gel Pen highlights to the antlers, ears, tail and top of heads of the deer.

Put a post it note mask on the project and sponged Baja Breeze ink at the post it note edge to create a shadow under the deer.

Added a Whisper White and Baja Breeze card stock panels.

Using the Stampin’ Up Mostly Vintage Decor Stencil added the design by sponging in the open areas of the stencil Baja Breeze ink.

Moved the stencil down and repeated the process.

Added Whisper White Ribbon.

Added a couple of antique brads.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be with love and laughter.

Until my next post. .. . . .  . . ..

Hugs,

Michelle

Brayered Melon Mambo ink on the top left corner of the card stock at an angle.

Brayered Cajun Craze ink on the same corner at an angle. Not covering the Melon Mambo ink entirely.

Stamped 3 more leaves using Cajun Craze ink.

Colored the 3 leaves in using a More Mustard marker.

Stamped the spots using Melon Mambo ink.
