Stampin’ Up’s Color Refresh! I love color and I know that you do too. Color is fundamental to who Stampin’ Up! is and what they offer. It’s important for us to stay up-to-date with color trends so I am thrilled to share Stampin’ Up’s updated line of colors, and hope you will be as excited as I am by the new possibilities!

Why now? In 2010 Stampin’ Up! did a big color renovation and shared their plans for smaller color refreshes every three to five years to keep their colors on trend. Well it has been three years and I am excited to announce that the upcoming 2013-2014 annual catalog will include 10 new colors (most of which are returning In Colors from previous years)! Stampin’ Up! is welcoming back some of your favorites, moving some colors around, and introducing one brand-new color, so take a look!

Beginning on April 4, 2013, all retiring/discontinued color products (i.e. ink, paper, ribbon, accessories, etc.) will be available only while supplies last. This means that some products will not be available through the retired list period. Stampin’ Up! did anticipate increased demand and based their forecasts for these retiring colors on historical sales information from previous color transitions. However, even with the most careful planning, the response to a transition of this nature can surprise everyone–including your own personal purchases. We encourage you to get your favorites and look forward to the exciting colors coming in the 2013-2014 annual catalog.

Fly Away – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #598

Hey There,

How about a little floral card today?   I combined the Stampin’ Up! stamp sets Papillion Potpourri and Everything Eleanor to bring you this Spring Card Tutorial.  Check it out below.

********************************************

I’ve added this card to my sales page where you will also find some great deals on retired stamp sets.  CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT********************************************

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Papillion Potpourri (item #123759) and Everything Eleanor (item #124164)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Marina Mist and Basic Black

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Stazon Jet Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Ovals Collection Framelits (item #129381), Bird punch, Flower Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Brads, Brayer, White Gel pen, 3/4″ circle punch, Markers (Baja Breeze, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie), Big Shot Machine

Using the Big Shot Machine and the Oval Collection Framelits, cut 3rd to the largest and 2nd to the largest Ovals out of Whisper White and Basic Black card stock.

Punched a 3/4″ circle punch from the sticky part of a post it note and used it as a mask for the sun.

Brayered Daffodil Delight ink and then Pumpkin Pie ink at an angle.

Removed the sun mask and sponged in Daffodil Delight ink in the sun.

Stamped the flourish from the Everything Eleanor set using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Stamped the Butterflies on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Colored the butterflies in with a Baja Breeze marker.  Added Marina Mist marker on the inside of the wings and then colored the body in using a Basic Black marker.

Stamped the flower from the Everything Eleanor set on Whisper White card stock using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Colored the flower in using a Daffodil Delight marker.

Added Pumpkin Pie marker.

Added Cajun Craze marker on the inside of the flower.

Cut out the butterflies and large flower.

Punched a small flower out of Cajun Craze card stock and sniped in between the petals of the flower using paper snips.  Added a brad to the center and then added it to the center of the larger flower.  (note:  I did this as an after thought, but it would be easier to do this at this point.

Added White Gel pen to the florish, flower and Butterflies.

Cut a 3.75″ x 5″ piece of Marina Mist card stock.   Inked up one side of the Argyle Embossing Folder with Marina Mist ink and then ran the card stock through the Big Shot Machine using the Emboss Folder.  This really makes the embossing stand out.  (note:  you want to ink up the side of the embossing folder that the design is indented).

Added 2 Basic Black Panels and a Marina Mist panel.  Very Vanilla Seam Binding and then pop up the oval Basic Black panel with Stampin Dimensionals.  Also popped up the  butterflies and flower.

Cut 2 pieces of Very Vanilla Ribbon and slide them under the adhered ribbon.  Tied them in a bow and then separted the loops so the bow is fuller.

Punched 2 of the leaves from the bird punch out of Basic Black card stock.  Cut some of the stem off of them and added them under the flower.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be delightful!

Until my next post. . . . . .

Mouthwatering – Stampin’ Up! Tutorial #596

Hey There,

Do you think I’m wishing for the warm days of Summer or what?  It’s been a long Winter.  So sorry to all of you that are still getting the white stuff and cold temps.  Maybe this card will help warm you up.

I put this card together using the super cute Stampin’ Up! Mouthwatering set.  It has images of the things I like to eat in the Summer.

I used the emboss resist technique and really made good use of my Stampin’ Up! Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  Check out the tutorial below.

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up!  Mouthwatering (item #125677)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Basic Black, Old Olive and Soft Suede

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Soft Suede and Pacific Point

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponges, Ruler, Rose Red Seam Binding, Markers (Rose Red, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Basic Black and Soft Suede), Versamarker, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Big Shot, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Paper Towel and Post it Notes

Stamped the watermelon image on a 5.25″ x 3″ piece of Whisper White card stock by coloring the stamp with Old Olive marker and Rose Red Marker, huffing my breath on the stamp to moisten and then stamped the image.  Repeated to stamp the second watermelon.

Added a bit of Always Artichoke marker at the outside edge of the watermelon and colored the seeds Basic Black.

Colored over both images using a Veramarker (staying inside of the image) and then heat embossed them using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.   Repeat if there are dimples in your embossing.

Masked the bottom of the card stock using post it notes and sponged Pacific Point ink at the top of the card stock.

Masked the top of the card stock, leaving a hint of the blue showing and sponged Soft Suede ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Using a ruler, put in 3 lines in the Soft Suede area using a Soft Suede marker.  Sponged Soft Suede ink in for the shadow.

Gently wiped off my embossed images and quickly heated them up again to bring back the shine.

Ran the main image panel and Old Olive panel and a Soft Suede panel through the Big Shot using the Square Lattic embossing folder.

Added two Basic Black panels, a Whisper White card base and Rose Red Seam Binding.   Popped the main image panel up using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be filled with the warmth of Spring.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Rainy Day – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #595

Hi There,

I think I was channeling my inner Mary Engelbreit today with the polka dots and colors.  Rain can be a bit depressing but when you use bright colors I think that changes things.

I created a puddle for my image to be standing in and used Stampin’ Up! Crystal Effects to make it look real.  Check out the complete tutorial below or better yet stamp along with me.

Added more Blush Blossom marker to the cheeks (twice).

Added More Mustard marker to the coat, boots and hair.

Colored the rain drops and added a puddle using the Bashful Blue marker.

Added Crystal Effects to the puddle to give it some shine and bring it to life.

Colored in the ground using a Luck Limeade marker.

Sponged in a bit of Sahara Sand ink in the sky.

Sponged More Mustard around the two labels.

Die cut a Top Note out of Real Red polka dot card stock.

Cut a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of So Saffron card stock and embossed it using the Polka Dot Embossing Folder and Big Shot Machine.

Cut an accent piece out of More Mustard card stock using the Adorning Accents Edgelit.

Added a Whisper White card stock base, 5.5″ x 4.25″ panel of Real Red,  Sponged More Mustard around the So Saffron Embossed panel and sponged Cherry Cobbler ink around the edges of the Top note.   Added the More Mustard accent piece and pierced holes in each scallop.

Here is the finished project measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″.

Over the weekend I was busy, busy straightening a few of my gardens up.   I tackled the strawberry bed and thinned out my strawberry plants so they will be more productive.

Filled my strawberry jar with some of the excess plants and shared the rest with neighbors.

Russ and I also cleaned out our small barn.  I’m moving the chickens to bigger quarters.  More news on that later.   We also did the task of bringing home a truck load of mulch and shoveled it out of the truck into a pile, then cleaned up the yard and deck furniture.   I’m tired and it’s only Monday, lol.

I couple of pics from this morning in the yard.

Here birdy, birdy. . . . .

Until my next post. . . . . .

And also announced today, free shipping is going on April 6-8, 2013, which would be a great time for you to get your favorites before they are gone! (Free shipping is for North America only.)

Garden Boots – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #591

Hey there,

Are you as ready for Spring as I am?  My heavens, I’m so ready to get out in my garden.   I have a ton of seedlings growing in the house and I think they would much rather be outside with the sun on them also.

Last year, we hardly had a Winter and I was picking strawberries in March.  This year we have 6 inches of snow on the ground.  I’m hoping we have a mild Spring and Summer.   None of that drought stuff.  Can I get an Amen!

Anyhow, my frame of mind is what brought this card design to light.  Today’s tutorial uses the fun Bootiful Occasions Stampin’ Up! rubber stamp set.  This set contains a boot for every season so it is quite versatile.  I’ve also put in a fun wood wall behind the boots.  Check out my tutorial for this card below.

Introducing Photopolymer by Stampin’ Up!

Always wanted to be a graphic designer?  My favorite part about design is typography. I adore type. There’s just something inherently beautiful about letterforms and what happens when you stack them to create different shapes and combine them to say different things.  So without further adieu, let me introduce you to the Designer Typeset Stamp Set. It’s based around a really great san serif font that will work well on just about any project. And then there are embellishments and shapes to take whatever you want to say to the next level. The possibilities are seriously endless.

I’ll admit, once you start playing around with the stamp set, you will have a hard time stopping!

But before we get too carried away, let’s get to talking about the benefits of photopolymer stamps. For those who are unfamiliar, let me point out a couple of things that are really cool.

First, they’re completely clear, making it oh-so-easy to stamp exactly where you want. They come unmounted, on an acetate sheet, and temporarily adhere to our clear blocks. Awesome!

Second, they are pliable. Want your arrow to shoot a certain way? No problem! Want your banner to have the perfect sag? Easy peasy! Being able to play with the shape gives you even more creative freedom.

So let’s get down to the nitty gritty. The Designer Typeset Stamp Sets in the online store starting now. So just click HERE to order yours today!

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponge, postage stamp punch, Soft Suede and More Mustard Markers, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Big Shot Machine and Fancy Fan and Argyle Embossing Folders

On a 4.5″ x 2.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock I drug the Marina Mist ink pad directly across the card stock (Direct To Paper or DTP Technique).

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up!  By the Tide (item number 129120) and Everything Eleanor (item number 124164)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, River Rock, Soft Suede and island Indigo

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Soft Suede, Island Indigo, River Rock and Baja Breeze

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Brayer, Sponge, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Decorative Label, White Gel Pen, Markers (Blush Blossom, Soft Suede and River Rock), Square Lattice Embossing Folder and Big Shot Machine and Post it Notes

Started by masking the sand area of a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock with a post it note that I ripped the edge off of.   Brayered Baja Breeze and then Island Indigo ink at the top of the card stock.

Added another post it note mask and sponged Island Indigo ink at the post it note edge to create a horizon line.

Removed both post it note masks and sponged River Rock ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Lightly sponged Soft Suede ink in the sand area.

Stamped the Florish from the Everything Eleanor set using River Rock ink in the sand area and then in the sky using Island Indigo ink.

Embossed the card stock using the square lattice embossing folder and Big Shot Machine.

Stamped the shell from the By the Tides set on River Rock card stock using Soft Suede ink.

Punched the image out using the Decorative Label punch.

Colored the shell in using a River Rock marker.

Added Blush Blossom marker to the darker areas.

Added White Gel pen and while wet smugged it to lighten and blend it a bit.

Added Soft Suede marker to the really dark areas.

Sponged Island Indigo ink around the edges.

Added a Whisper White card base, Soft Suede panel, Island Indigo panel, Soft Suede panel, main image panel and then popped the shell image up using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be filled with peace and joy.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Good Morning!

I love those mornings when I can get right out of bed and head to my stampin’ space to create and everything flows smoothly and I come up with a card that I am pleased with.  Today has been such a morning, whoohooo!

I decided to do a background starting with two different colors of card stock to add visual interest, a little stamp layering for the background and a great bird punch was used.   Check out my tutorial for this card below.
