Hello Stampers,

If you have followed my blog for any length of time you know I am a tree hugger in a big way.  I cannot get enough of them!

In fact, I have a bit of tree knowledge for you today.  Actually it is a bit of info you may never use in your entire life, lol.  Did you ever wonder why there is a lone tree in the middle of a working farm field?  You see this time and again if you are in farm country.  There has been a time or two when I pondered the reason for this?  Was it because the farmer needed shade during his long hours in the field?  Or maybe a place to seek shelter during a storm?  I found it was neither of those reasons.  Although they have been used for those reasons.

Back before heavy farm equipment (horse and plow times) when they wanted to clear a field they would chain two trees together and ratchet the chains tighter and tighter until one of the trees gave way.  In the end, there was a lone tree who was the last survivor.  The farmer certainly could have chopped that last tree down but maybe he thought of how beautiful it was or how nice the shade would be on a hot day.   🙂  Makes me smile when I see one now.  How strong that tree must be!

Now about my card creation today, I used the new Stampin’ Up! set Golden Afternoon.  The large tree image looks like two trees intertwined as if embracing each other.  🙂

I made my background really dark so I could make the tree appear in bloom and have it really pop!

When I first started raising chickens I had no idea how much about chickens I really did not know.  One of my totally wrong thoughts about Roosters was that they only crowed in the morning when the sun comes up, NOT!  They crow all day everyday.  I love hearing a rooster crow so being wrong about that was a nice  surprise.  🙂

Wishing you a year that’s healthy, promising, exciting, inspiring and full of creative fun!

I’m taking today to ponder and appreciate this coming year.  I have big plans to  lose weight and get healthy (like everyone else, LOL)  But I’m also going to do my part to help save the bees by expanding my Apiary.  I have kept two hives up until now so it’s time to grow, grow, grow.  The USA is losing our bees at an alarming rate of 30% or more each year.  Scary to think of our world without our pollinators, right?  I’m sure you will see some of this adventure on this blog in the future.

I plan on growing and canning a lot of our food.  I will also continue to be a good Chicken Momma, love my girls.

I’m also very excited to get to share and play with all of the new products Stampin’ Up! has coming out on January 3rd along with Sale-a-bration starting.  Woot Woot!  The best time of the year!  Free product, oh yeah!
