Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Cycle Celebration (item number 130273)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Smoky Slate and Basic Black

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate, Tangerine Tango, Basic Black and Stazon Jet Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Sponges, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Marker, Brayer, Piercing Tools, Essentials Hardware Clips, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Timeless Type Alphabet Sizzlits and Big Shot Machine

Started by Brayering Crushed Curry ink at the top of a 4″ square piece of Whisper White card stock.

Masked the paper for my sun using a 1 3/8″ circle punched from the sticky part of a post it note.  I keep a container of these circles already punch on my desk for quick masking.

Brayered Tangerine Tango ink on the top of the card stock.

Brayered Cherry Cobbler ink at the very top of the card stock.

Unmasked the sun and sponged Smoky Slate ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Stamped the bike using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Sponged Basic Black ink at the very bottom of the card stock.

Diecut from Basic Black card stock the word “Ride” using the Timeless Type Alphabet Sizzlits and the Big Shot Machine.  Note this alphabet is retired from the catalog, but you could substitute stamped letters or another die alphabet.  These letters are 1″ high.

Also colored the inside of the wheels in using a Sahara Sand marker.

Sponged Tangerine Tango ink the center of the sun.

Added a 4 1/8″ square Smoky Slate card stock panel and 2 Essentials Hardware Clips.

Added a 4.75″ square Basic Black card stock panel and a 5 1/2″ Smoky Slate card stock card base.  Pierced holes around the edge of the card base using piercing tools.

Added a bit more Sahara Sand marker to the center of the wheels.

Here is the finished card measuring 5 1/2″ square.

May your day be nothing but a smooth ride.

I’m heading out to the garden.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Huge Hugs!

Wetlands 3 – Stampin’ Up! Tutorial #615

Hey There,

Happy Monday! Actually, I’m trying to cheer myself up today.  I had to return my fun and beautiful 9 year old Grand Daughter, Hailie Jade to her Mother yesterday after having her here with me for 2 weeks.  She is so full of life and giggles, I miss her so!  Waaaahhhaaa. . . . . . . . It’s tough having a grand child that lives out of state.

Anyway, it’s back to just me and this big baby, Luke in the garden this morning.  It’s hard to be sad for long when you have this guy looking at you.  🙂  What a character. . . . did someone say snack?

Here is an updated pic of one of the garden beds.  I swear it is going to bust at the seams along with the other veggie beds.  Zucchini, squash, beets, turnips, lettuce, radishes, kale, onions and carrots are all overflowing. . . . mmmmmm

But, I bet you want to see the tutorial on today’s project shown above, right?  I’ve decided to use the Stampin’ Up! Wetlands stamp set one more time before I put it back on the storage shelf.  Check out the tutorial below.

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Wetlands (item #126697)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Basic Black and Soft Suede

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, Old Olive, Soft Suede and Stazon Jet Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Brayer, sponges, white gel pen, Stampin’ Write Markers (Basic Black, Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede), post it note

Started with a 3″ x 4.25″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  Brayered Coastal Cabana ink a little over half of the top of the card stock.  Brayered Coastal Cabana ink 1/4 of the card stock at the bottom of the card stock.

Brayered Bermuda Bay ink at the top and bottom of the card stock, not covering the Coastal Cabana ink entirely.

Brayed just a little bit of Island Indigo ink at the top and bottom of the card stock.

Stamped the Canadian Goose from the Stampin’ Up! Wetlands Stamp Set using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Masked the bottom of the card stock with a post it note and sponged Old Olive ink over the grassy area.

Sponged just a little Soft Suede ink at the post it note edge over the Old Olive.

Removed the post it note mask.  Darkened the neck and head of the goose with a Basic Black marker and colored over the rest of the goose using a Sahara Sand marker.

Added Crumb Cake marker to the back and belly of the goose and then blended it in using the Sahara Sand marker.

Added White gel pen to the head, chest, grasses and water lines in the water.

Darkened the back just a bit with a Soft Suede marker and then blended it in using the Sahara Sand marker.

Kept this layout super clean to show off the scene.   Added Basic Black, Whisper White and Soft Suede panel.

Here is the finished card measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″.

May your day be totally terrific.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Huge Hugs!

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Wetlands (item #126697) and Woodgrain (item #128763)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Soft Suede

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Old Olive, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Soft Sky and Island Indigo

Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Brayer, Neutral Candy Dots, Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder (item #129984), Deco Labels Framelits (item #130102), Sponges and a post it note

I love Stampin’ Up’s framelits and this new set of Deco Labels is no exception.  So I started out this project with them.

Used the second to the largest framelit to cut out my main image panel with the Big Shot and Whisper White card stock.

Brayered Soft Sky ink on the top half of the card stock.

Brayered Island Indigo ink on the very top of the card stock.

Masked part of the sky area with a post it note and lightly sponged Island ink at the post it note’s edge to create my horizon line.

Removed the mask and sponged Crumb Cake ink at the bottom of the card stock to create the sand.

Stamped the grasses stamp from the Wetlands stamp set 3 times using Old Olive ink.

Sponged Soft Suede at the bottom of the card stock and then around the edges.

Used the largest Deco Labels Framelit, Big Shot Machine and Crumb Cake card stock and cut out my layer for the back of the main image panel.

Stamped the Woodgrain stamp on the Crumb Cake panel using Soft Suede ink.

Sponged Soft Suede ink on the edges of the card stock.

Cut a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Crumb Cake card stock and embossed it using the new Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder and Big Shot Machine.

Lightly brayered Soft Suede ink over the embossed image to bring out more and to grunge up the card stock a bit.

Sponged Early Espresso ink around the edges.

Added a 4.25″ x 5.5″ Early Espesso panel, Whisper White card base and Soft Suede Candy Dots.

Here is the finished card.

May your day be filled with love and laughter!

In the Wind – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #611

Hey There,

Today I am stamping at a disadvantage or advantage, whichever way you look at it.  You see, I have a 100 pound pup on my feet as I stamp, lol.   He has decided that he needs to be as close as possible this morning because his mommy is under the weather.   I’m dealing with this years case of poison Ivy, yuck!

To make myself feel better, I took a walk in my garden and visited my girls (hens).  I’ve added the pictures that I took on my stroll at the bottom of this post.  I’m the most lucky gal in the world, poison ivy or not.  I hope you too take a look around today and can feel grateful for all that you have.

***************************************************************

Now a bit about my card tutorial of the day.  I’ve paired up the Stampin’ Up! sets Sweets for the Sweet and Everything Eleanor.  Check it out below.

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up!  Sweets for the Sweet (item #122512) and Everything Eleanor (item #124164)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Old Olive and Tangerine Tango

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Tempting Turquoise, Early Espresso, Old Olive, Midnight Muse, Tangerine Tango, Pear Pizzazz, Rich Razzelberry and Stazon Jet Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Stampin’ Write Markers Tempting Turquoise, White Gel Pen, Stampin’ Dimensional, Sponges, Brayer, Silver Brads, Post it note, Big Shot Machine and Tasteful Trim Die

Stamped the pinwheel using Tangerine Tango, Rich Razzelberry and Pear Pizzazz on Whisper White card stock.  Cut them out and put a brad in the center of each.

Brayered Tempting Turquoise ink on a 3.5″ x 4.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

Brayered Midnight Muse ink on the card stock, not covering the Tempting Turquoise ink entirely.

Sponged Old Olive ink at the bottom of the card stock and then sponged Early Espresso ink at the bottom.

Stamped the Everything Eleanor Flourish using Tempting Turquoise ink in the sky area.

Covered most of the grassy area using a post it note and then stamped the pinwheel sticks using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Added some white highlighting around the flourish and then went over some of it with a Tempting Turquoise marker over the White gel pen to tone it down a bit.

Added the pinwheels using Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop them up.

Die cut a Whisper White Rick Rack shape using the Big Shot Machine and the Tasteful Trim Die.

Tangerine Tango panel, Whisper White Panel, Old Olive panel and a Whisper White Card Base.  Here is the finished card measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″.

Before I close here is a picture walk through of what is happening here at the Zindorf Homestead.

Buffy is totally a mental case right now.  She is broody and wants to sit on some eggs to hatch them.  Since we only have hens we don’t have any fertile eggs so she is totally out of luck.  Here she is totally pissed off and puffed up since I won’t let her stay in the nest 24/7 as she would like to.

I caught Sophie out by the Honey Suckle Bush.

These to characters (Red and Bunny) know they are not suppose to be on the deck because they leave little unwanted packages.  But here they are just the same.  I think they are asking each other if I seen them.

I did run them off of the top deck and then turned around to find Red hiding under the table on the lower deck, lol.  She thinks I cannot see her.

We have a pair of Cardinals nesting in our Lilac Bush.

Now here is where I spend a great amount of time.  Russ and I are trying to grow as much of our own food as we can. Here is a tour of our garden.

I think cabbages are one of the most beautiful veggies out there.

This is one of my warm weather veggie beds.  Things are coming along.  I’m growing Asparagus, cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, onions, squash, radishes and zucchini in this area.

Cold weather beds – garlic, parsnips, turnips,  kale and lettuce.

Another cold weather bed – Sugar Snap peas, Carrots, Beets and Spinach.

I’ve been getting about a quart a day of Strawberries from this bed, yum!

This large bed looks empty now, but I’ve planted corn, beans and cucumbers.

We now have pear, cherry and apple trees.   Also, we have blueberry bushes.   I’m hoping to add  peach and plum trees in the Fall.  Pear tree branches and bird feeder.  Pears are coming along.

Hope you enjoyed the tour.  🙂

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Hostess set Simply Sketched (item #129672)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Primrose Petal and Stampin’ Up! Quatrefancy Specialty DSP

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Pool Party, Island Indigo, Primrose Petal and Stazon Jet Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Stampin’ Write Markers (Summer Starfruit, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Crumb Cake Soft Suede, Blushing Bride, Primrose Petal), White Gel Pen, Blender Pen, Sponges, Whisper White Ribbon, Antique Brad, Brayer and Delicate Details Lace Tape

Brayered Pool Party ink on one side of a 4″ square piece of Whisper White card stock.

Brayered Pool Party ink on the opposite side of the card stock.

Brayered a little Island Indigo ink on the same sides, not covering the Pool Party ink entirely.

Stamped the bird stamp with and the Leaf stamp using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Colored the leaves and grasses in using a Pear Pizzazz marker.

Added Old Olive marker to the base of the leaves and the bottom of the grasses.

Colored the berries in using a Blushing Bride marker.

Added a touch of Primrose Petal marker to the base of each berry.

Colored in the bird using a Crumb Cake marker.

Added Soft Suede marker to the darkest areas of the bird and then blended it a bit using a Blender Pen.

Colored in the Bird using a Summer Starfruit marker.  Also, added a few water lines beneath the grasses.

Added highlights to the leaves, grasses and the top of the bird with a White Gel Pen.  I smudged the highlight on the top of the bird with my finger while it was wet to tone it down a bit.

Sponged Island Indigo ink at the base of the grasses.

Sponged Primrose Petal ink on the edges of the card stock.

Added a 5.5″ Primrose Petal layer, 5.25″ Whisper White Layer, 5″ DSP layer and a 4 1/8″ Primrose Petal layer under the main image panel.

Put a strip of the Delicate Details Lace Tape on the left side of the DSP.

Adhered the smallest Primrose Petal layer to the main image panel and added a bit of Whisper White Ribbon folded over and an Antique Brad.

Put the card front together and adhered it to a Whisper White card base.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.5″ square.

Stampin’ Up’s Color Refresh! I love color and I know that you do too. Color is fundamental to who Stampin’ Up! is and what they offer. It’s important for us to stay up-to-date with color trends so I am thrilled to share Stampin’ Up’s updated line of colors, and hope you will be as excited as I am by the new possibilities!

Why now? In 2010 Stampin’ Up! did a big color renovation and shared their plans for smaller color refreshes every three to five years to keep their colors on trend. Well it has been three years and I am excited to announce that the upcoming 2013-2014 annual catalog will include 10 new colors (most of which are returning In Colors from previous years)! Stampin’ Up! is welcoming back some of your favorites, moving some colors around, and introducing one brand-new color, so take a look!

Beginning on April 4, 2013, all retiring/discontinued color products (i.e. ink, paper, ribbon, accessories, etc.) will be available only while supplies last. This means that some products will not be available through the retired list period. Stampin’ Up! did anticipate increased demand and based their forecasts for these retiring colors on historical sales information from previous color transitions. However, even with the most careful planning, the response to a transition of this nature can surprise everyone–including your own personal purchases. We encourage you to get your favorites and look forward to the exciting colors coming in the 2013-2014 annual catalog.

Fly Away – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #598

Hey There,

How about a little floral card today?   I combined the Stampin’ Up! stamp sets Papillion Potpourri and Everything Eleanor to bring you this Spring Card Tutorial.  Check it out below.

********************************************

I’ve added this card to my sales page where you will also find some great deals on retired stamp sets.  CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT********************************************

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Papillion Potpourri (item #123759) and Everything Eleanor (item #124164)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Marina Mist and Basic Black

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Stazon Jet Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Ovals Collection Framelits (item #129381), Bird punch, Flower Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Brads, Brayer, White Gel pen, 3/4″ circle punch, Markers (Baja Breeze, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie), Big Shot Machine

Using the Big Shot Machine and the Oval Collection Framelits, cut 3rd to the largest and 2nd to the largest Ovals out of Whisper White and Basic Black card stock.

Punched a 3/4″ circle punch from the sticky part of a post it note and used it as a mask for the sun.

Brayered Daffodil Delight ink and then Pumpkin Pie ink at an angle.

Removed the sun mask and sponged in Daffodil Delight ink in the sun.

Stamped the flourish from the Everything Eleanor set using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Stamped the Butterflies on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Colored the butterflies in with a Baja Breeze marker.  Added Marina Mist marker on the inside of the wings and then colored the body in using a Basic Black marker.

Stamped the flower from the Everything Eleanor set on Whisper White card stock using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Colored the flower in using a Daffodil Delight marker.

Added Pumpkin Pie marker.

Added Cajun Craze marker on the inside of the flower.

Cut out the butterflies and large flower.

Punched a small flower out of Cajun Craze card stock and sniped in between the petals of the flower using paper snips.  Added a brad to the center and then added it to the center of the larger flower.  (note:  I did this as an after thought, but it would be easier to do this at this point.

Added White Gel pen to the florish, flower and Butterflies.

Cut a 3.75″ x 5″ piece of Marina Mist card stock.   Inked up one side of the Argyle Embossing Folder with Marina Mist ink and then ran the card stock through the Big Shot Machine using the Emboss Folder.  This really makes the embossing stand out.  (note:  you want to ink up the side of the embossing folder that the design is indented).

Added 2 Basic Black Panels and a Marina Mist panel.  Very Vanilla Seam Binding and then pop up the oval Basic Black panel with Stampin Dimensionals.  Also popped up the  butterflies and flower.

Cut 2 pieces of Very Vanilla Ribbon and slide them under the adhered ribbon.  Tied them in a bow and then separted the loops so the bow is fuller.

Punched 2 of the leaves from the bird punch out of Basic Black card stock.  Cut some of the stem off of them and added them under the flower.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be delightful!

Until my next post. . . . . .

Hugs,

Morning Sun – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #585

Good Morning!

I love those mornings when I can get right out of bed and head to my stampin’ space to create and everything flows smoothly and I come up with a card that I am pleased with.  Today has been such a morning, whoohooo!

I decided to do a background starting with two different colors of card stock to add visual interest, a little stamp layering for the background and a great bird punch was used.   Check out my tutorial for this card below.

Check out and enter my blog candy give away, CLICK HERE.  The drawing is tomorrow 3/12/13.

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up!  Serene Silhouettes

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Pretty in Pink, Daffodil Delight and Basic Black

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Bird Punch

Stampin’ Dimensionals, Brayer, 1″ square punch, Basic Black marker and Designer Series Paper from the Patterns Stack (Neutral Collection)

Started with a 1.5″ x 4″ piece of Pretty in Pink card stock and a 2.5″ x 4″ piece of Daffodil Delight card stock.

Brayered Pumpkin Pie ink at an angle on each piece of card stock.

Brayered Perfect Plum ink at an angle on each of the pieces of card stock.

Brayered Elegant Eggplant at an angle on each of the pieces of card stock.

Stamped the flowers from Stampin’ Up’s Nature Silhouettes set using Pumpkin Pie ink, then stamped them a bit lower using Perfect Plum ink and then lower still using Basic Black ink.

Added a couple of strips of Basic Black card stock ripped at the top edge for posts.

Punched this great bird out of Basic Black card stock and added to the top of the first post.

Added a couple of lines for barbed wire using a Basic Black marker.

Added a 5.25″ x 10.25″ Whisper White card base (folded in half), a 5.25″ square piece of Basic Black and a 5″ square piece of DSP from the Neutrals Collection Paper Stack.  Punched (2) 1″ squares from Basic Black card stock and then cut them in half and added them as accents.

Matted my main image panel with a 4 1/8″ square piece of Basic Black card stock and them popped the panels up using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.25″ square.

May you feel the sun on your face today.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Introducing Photopolymer by Stampin’ Up!

Always wanted to be a graphic designer?  My favorite part about design is typography. I adore type. There’s just something inherently beautiful about letterforms and what happens when you stack them to create different shapes and combine them to say different things.  So without further adieu, let me introduce you to the Designer Typeset Stamp Set. It’s based around a really great san serif font that will work well on just about any project. And then there are embellishments and shapes to take whatever you want to say to the next level. The possibilities are seriously endless.

I’ll admit, once you start playing around with the stamp set, you will have a hard time stopping!

But before we get too carried away, let’s get to talking about the benefits of photopolymer stamps. For those who are unfamiliar, let me point out a couple of things that are really cool.

First, they’re completely clear, making it oh-so-easy to stamp exactly where you want. They come unmounted, on an acetate sheet, and temporarily adhere to our clear blocks. Awesome!

Second, they are pliable. Want your arrow to shoot a certain way? No problem! Want your banner to have the perfect sag? Easy peasy! Being able to play with the shape gives you even more creative freedom.

So let’s get down to the nitty gritty. The Designer Typeset Stamp Sets in the online store starting now. So just click HERE to order yours today!
