Hey There,

Last night I arrived home safe and sound from Purcellville, Virginia where I had a lovely, lovely time teaching and meeting some terrific stampers who are now brayer maniacs.

My time at home is short lived however, I leave very early tomorrow morning for St. George, Utah where I will be pampered with the other Stampin’ Up! I didn’t want to leave you without a project, so here is a cute quarter card (4.25″ x 5.5″).  This card features two Stampin’ Up Halloween stamp sets, Wicked Cool and Jack of all Trades.  I love to co-mingle stamp sets.

Punched a 2.5″ circle from the sticky part of the post it note.  Used the circle to mask the moon on a 4″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White Card stock.

Brayered Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzelberry and then Elegant Eggplant ink at the top of the card stock.

 

 

Sponged Old Olive ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Stamped the pumpkin on So Saffron card stock using Pumpkin Pie ink.

Added Pumpkin Pie marker.

Added a bit of Cajun Craze marker and blended it in with the Pumpkin Pie marker.

Stamped the hat on the So Saffron card stock using Basic Black ink.

Added Basic Black marker for the shadows.

Stamped the face on the pumpkin using Basic Black ink.

Stamped the feet on the card stock using Basic Black ink.

Colored the stripes in on the socks using a White Gel Pen.

Added a shadow underneath using an Old Olive Marker.

Stamped the sentiment using Basic Black ink.

Cut out the pumpkin and hat and adhered them to the card stock using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Added Pumpkin Pie Ribbon and Elegant Eggplant brads.

Added a Basic Black panel and Old Olive card base.

Here is the finished card measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″.

Gently Falling Branch – Tutorial #532

Hey There,

Are you ready for Autumn?  I am sooooo ready!    I love to craft during the Autumn season.  It’s the time of year when all of my favorite colors are splashed all over the landscape.   But I will need to wait a few months, but that doesn’t mean I will need to wait for Autumn to get here before I start creating Autumn projects.   With that being said, here is a card using the Stampin’ Up! Gently Falling two step stamp set and the very fun color core Early Espresso card stock.  This new card stock from Stampin’ Up! is just begging to be sanded, so I obliged, using the new sanding block, grin.   Also, I brayered the background in so that it looks like filtered light.

Now the card was so fun to make I decided to make this 12 x 12 scrapbook page using the same techniques I used in the card.   The photo is of my son Mitchell with his daughter Hailie Jade.  This was taken back in 2003, lol.  I’m a bit behind on getting some of my photos scrap booked.

Brayered More Mustard ink at the bottom of a 4.5″ x 6″ piece of Summer Starfruit card stock.

Brayered Cajun Craze ink at the bottom of the card stock not covering the Summer Starfruit ink entirely.

Stamped the solid leaf stamp on Lucky Limeade card stock using the following colors, Lucky Limeade, Always Artichoke and Cajun Craze.

Over stamped the solid images with the fine line stamp using the following colors, Always Artichoke, Basic Black and Cherry Cobbler.

Stamped the solid seed pods on Lucky Limeade card stock using Lucky Limeade ink.  We called these seed pods helicopters when I was growing up.

Stamped the fine line image over the solid image using Always Artichoke ink.

Cut all the images out using my Paper Snips.

Tip:  When cutting out things with curves move the paper not the scissors.  This helps to give you a smoother look to your cutting and it’s much easier too.

Tip:  Put a piece of rubber shelf liner under your Big Shot Machine so it doesn’t slide around when in use.

Using the Big Shot Machine and Wood Embossing Folder, embossed a 4.5″ x 6″ piece of Color Core Early Espresso card stock.

Sand the top of the card stock to bring out the inner core color and the design.

Cut a 1″ strip of the card stock and adhere it to the main image panel.

Draw in a limb using an Early Espresso marker.

Adhere the leaves using 3 Stampin’ Dimensionals and a bit of glue at the bottom of the leaf.  This will pop the top of the leaf up and have the bottom of the leaf flat on the card stock.

 

Adhere the seed pods flat on the card stock.  Crinkle up the edges of the  leaves.

Darken the stems of the leaves and seed pods using the Early Espresso marker.   This makes things look a bit more natural.

Sponge Basic Black ink at the bottom and left sides of the card stock.

Add Crystal effects dots on the leaves as dew drops.  This goes on milky but dries to a clear.  Let dry very well.

Add a couple of very fine twigs using the Early Espresso marker.

Added a 5″ x 6.5″ Cajun Craze panel and a 4.75″ x 6.25″ Basic Black panel.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

Brayered Daffodil Delight ink at the top of a 3.5″ x 7″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

Brayered Lucky Limeade at the bottom of the card stock.

Brayered Old Olive ink at the bottom of the card stock, not covering the Lucky Limeade ink entirely.

Brayered Always Artichoke ink at the bottom of the card stock not covering the Old Olive ink entirely.

Stamped deer by loading the stamp with Soft Suede ink and then sponging Early Espresso ink at the bottom of the deer stamp before stamping to create a shadow on the bottom half of the deer.

Stamped the bird using Cherry Cobbler ink.

Using the edge of the Always Artichoke ink pad used the direct to paper method to put in some grasses.  This is an upward stroke.

Adhered a 3.75″ x 8.75″ Old Olive panel to a 4″ x 9″ Basic Black panel and then put two lines of pierced holes across the bottom and top of the Old Olive panel.

Added White gel pen lines from one pierced whole to the next to create some faux stitching.

Added a 3 5/8″ x 7 1/8″ Basic Black panel underneith the main image panel.  Also added some Summer Starfruit Ribbon.

Assembled the card and added Basic Black brads.

Here is the finished card measuring 4″ x 9″.  This size card fits into a #10 size office envelope.   🙂

Punched a 1 3/4″ circle from the stick part of a post it note and used it as a mask for the moon on a 2.75″ x 6″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

Brayered Bashful Blue, Island Indigo and Elegant Eggplant in that order at the top of the card stock.

 

 

Removed the moon mask and sponged So Saffron ink in the middle of the moon.

Stamped the house using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Sponged the hill in using Old Olive ink leaving the bottom of the card stock white.

Stamped the fence by loading the stamp with a Basic Black marker and then huffing on the stamp to moisten before stamping it.

Colored in just the fence of the fence stamp and stamped it so the fence continued.  Repeated on the other side.

 

Stamped the Sentiment in the moon using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Added a path to the house using an Old Olive marker.

Sponged Old Olive ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Cut a 4.75″ x 6.25″ piece of Designer Series paper and added 2 Elegant eggplant panels.

 

Stamped the mummy and the trick or treat bag using Stazon Jet Black ink on Whisper White card stock and cut them out.

 

Ripped a piece of Old Olive card stock for grass and sponged Basic Black ink at the bottom edge.

Adhered the grass card stock, mummy, trick or treat bag using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Added a Googlies Eye to the mummy (super cute) and added a handle to the trick or treat bag using a Basic Black marker.  Also added to Old Olive Glimmer Brads.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.   Makes me want to go out and get some candy, lol.

I’m a little late posting today.  I’ve been busy in the kitchen doing some more freezer meal stuff.

Yesterday I got 6 lbs of ground turkey, 1 lb of cheddar cheese and 3 lbs of hamburger on sale.

So with my bargains I made the following:

50 Breakfast Burritos:

First, I made my ground turkey into turkey sausage.  Here is a link to the recipe I used CLICK HERE.  I tripled the recipe.

Then I made my breakfast burritos.   Turkey sausage, 24 eggs and 2 Tablespoons of Milk scrambled, 1 lb cheddar cheese shredded in food processor, 50 flour tortillas and large jar of salsa (I used home made salsa).  These were put together and par-frozen on cookie sheets and then transfered into freezer bags and back in the freezer.  To use, all you need to do is take one out and wrap it in a paper towel and microwave 1.3 minutes.  Super fast breakfast.

The 3 lbs of hamburger was browned along with some onion and bell peppers.   It was then drained and divided up into 3 freezer baggies.  Now I have meat all ready to add to spaghetti sauce or used in casseroles.

Witch in the Pumpkin Patch – Tutorial #521

Hey There,

Sorry for my absence this week.  We have been at the OSU hospital this week getting pre-surgery testing etc. done for my husband,  Russ’ heart surgery today.  As I type this he is in surgery and I am trying to keep my mind occupied by posting this card tutorial.   I created this card last night in order to clear my mind so bare with me with the coloring.   If you ever want to know what mood I am in look at the projects that I post.  When I want/need to relax I color, lol.  Last night was such a night.

Stamp the pumpkins using More Mustard ink on Stampin’ Up! Watercolor paper.

Stamped the witch using Stazon Jet Black ink on the watercolor paper.

Colored the pumpkin by adding a bit of More Mustard marker at the bottom of the pumpkin and then used a blender pen to more the color up to the top of the pumpkin a little at a time.

Stamped the stems on the pumpkin using Basic Black ink.

Added More Mustard marker to the bottom of the pumpkins and used the Blender pen to blend the color.   Be sure to just lay a bit of the marker down at a time.  Blend it before adding more.

 

Added a touch of Basic Black to her hat and cap and then blended it with the Blender pen.

Added Blush Blossom marker to her skin and blended it with the Blender Pen.

Added a bit of Wisteria Wonder marker to her dress and shoes and blended it with the Blender pen.

Colored her hair and the hat buckle and the broom straw using Daffodil Delight marker.   Colored the rest of the broom in using a Soft Suede marker.

Cut out the pumpkins and the witch using Stampin’ Up! Paper Snips.

Now for the background.  Cut a 4.5″ x 6″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  Punched a 1 3/4″ circle punch from a Post it note and used it as a mask for the moon.

 

Brayered Tempting Turquoise and Rich Razzelberry ink at the top of the card stock.

 

Sponged Old Olive ink at the bottom of the card stock, making a hill.

Removed mask and adhered the witch to the card stock and added an Old Olive marker shadow below the pumpkin and broom.

Stamped the Everything Eleanor Flourish using Stazon Jet Black ink twice.

Sponged Always Artichoke and Black ink at the bottom of the card stock.

 

Sponged Always Artichoke ink at the bottom of 2 of the pumpkins and to the Right side of one of the pumpkins.

Adhered two of the pumpkins and stamped the flourish in black over top of them.  Filled in the gaps in the design using a Basic Black marker.

Adhered the 3rd pumpkin using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Added an Old Olive panel and a Basic Black panel.

Here is the finished project measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

Zebra Reflection – Tutorial #520

Hey There,

Whew!  Did that weekend ever go by quickly.   I feel like I spent the entire weekend picking up branches brought down by the thunder storm that rolled through with it’s 70 mile an hour winds and just generally trying to keep the dog, chickens and myself cool during this blasted heat wave.   Someone, please turn off the heat!

My project today is a hot one, using warm colors and the very fun Stampin’ Up set, Zoo Review.   This is an old workshop project of mine.   I usually don’t share my workshop projects here on my blog, in fact this is the first time I have.    This is one of my favorites and I’m no longer teaching this card so here it is.      You wouldn’t believe the stash of old workshop projects I have piled up.  I change the projects in my workshops frequently to keep the workshops fresh.   Maybe little by little I’ll share them here.

The tutorial that follows will show you how to get that reflection in the water for the zebra and for the mountains.  Hope you enjoy it.  If you do, let me hear from you.   I love reading your comments, suggestions and general chit chat.

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponges, Versamarker, Versamark Pad, Sahara Sand Marker, 4 Silver Brads, Decorative Label Punch, White Gel Pen, 1/2″ circle Punch, post it notes, Brayer, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Gun and Heavy Window Sheet.

Loaded the Zebra stamp with Versamark and then Basic Black ink before stamping it on a 3.5″ x 6.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Colored the dark stripes in with a Sahara Sand marker.

 

Colored over the zebra using a Versamarker and then heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.  Now you image should be completely covered with embossing and will look like glass.

Brayer More Mustard ink at the top and bottom of the card stock.

Punch a 1/2″ circle from a post it note and use it as the mask for your sun.

Brayer Cajun Craze ink at the top and bottom of the card stock.

Brayer Cherry Cobbler ink at the very top and bottom of the card stock.

Stamp the zebra with Basic Black ink on a clear window sheet and then quickly turn it over onto the card stock (be sure to line up the zebra’s feet) and then brayer over the clear plastic sheet to transfer the zebra.   This creates the reflection.

Now to create the mountains:  Take two post it notes and stick the sticky sides together, so the sticky is sticking to the other sticky (back to back).  This way when you tear the post it note to mask for the mountains you will have one for the top and one for the reflection.

 

Put the post it notes on the card stock.  Make sure the post it notes and the same distance from each of the zebras.

Sponge Cajun Craze ink in for the mountains on both the top and bottom.

Take the masks off and put a straight post it note between the zebras.  Sponge Soft Suede ink and Old Olive ink at the post it note edge.  Then flip the post it note around and sponge the ground in on the reflective side (Soft Suede and Old Olive).  A little lighter on the reflective side.

 

Remove the mask and added White Gel Pen water lines to add some sparkle.

Sponge Basic Black ink around the edge of the card stock.

Punch a Decorative Label Punch from Basic Black card stock and cut it in half.

Add a 3.75″ x 8″ Basic Black panel and a 4″ x 9″ Old Olive Panel.  Add the two halves of the label and 4 silver brads.   Also add a 8″ x 9″ Whisper White Panel folded in half as the card base.

Here is the completed card.

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponges, Brayer, Versamark Pad, Versamarker, Heat Gun, Clear Embossing Powder, Markers (Daffodil Delight, River Rock, Sahara Sand and Bashful Blue), Cricut and Bloom Cricut Cartridge.

Stamped the tent by loading the stamp with Versamark and then Basic Black ink and then stamped it on a 3″ x 4.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Colored the tent with Sahara Sand and Bashful Blue markers.

Colored the shadows in the Sahara Sand area with River Rock and the shadows in the Bashful Blue area by adding another layer of Bashful Blue marker.

Added a bit of Daffodil Delight over the windows.

Colored over the tent using Versamarker and then heat embossed the entire image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

 

Brayered Daffodil Delight at the top of the card stock.

Brayered Pumpkin Pie ink at the top of the card stock, not covering the Daffodil Delight ink entirely.

Brayered Cajun Craze at the very top of the card stock.

Sponged Old Olive ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Sponged Basic Black at the very bottom of the card stock.

Cut two trees using Basic Black card stock and Old Olive card stock at 4.8″ using the Cricut and Cricut cartridge Bloom.

Glued the two layers together.

Added a 5″ x 6.5″ Cajun Craze Panel and a 4.75″ x 6.25″ Basic Black panel to the main image panel.

Adhered the two trees to the card stock.

Flipped the card stock over and cut the hang over of the tree flush with the Cajun Craze card stock.

Added a 10″ x 6.5″ Whisper White card stock panel folded in half for the card.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

A Bit of Gray – Tutorial #516

Hey There,

I wanted to create a quite scene today.  Sometimes you just need a peaceful card for a thinking of you or sympathy card.  What better stamp set to reach for than the Stampin’ Up! Lovely as a Tree set for these type of scenes.

Over the weekend, my husband, Russ and my son, Jesse  and I were hard at work trying to get the chicks coop ready for them to move into.  They 4 weeks old now and growing leaps and bounds and will soon be outside 24/7.   I’ll show pics of the completed coop as soon as things are all put together.

I do have a couple of pics of the chicks in their temporary chicken run that they have been hanging out in during the day.   They are officially in the dinosaur stage.  Feathers everywhere but on their necks so they look rather strange.  But this is just part of growing up when you are a chicken, lol.

Here is our Lucas guarding his girls.  🙂  You better now mess with them on his watch.  Just kidding, he is a marshmallow.   But he does love to watch the girls.  Chicken TV is the best.

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Basic Black and Baja Breeze

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Bashful Blue, Sahara Sand, Basic Gray and Basic Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponge, Brayer, Basic Black marker,  3/4″ circle Punch, Silver Metallic Sharpie Marker, Silver Mini Brads.

Put a 3/4″ circle punched from the sticky part of a post it note on a 3 1/8″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White card stock as a moon mask.

Brayered Bashful Blue and then Sahara Sand at the top of the card stock.

 

Removed the moon mask and masked the bottom of the card stock using a post it note.  Stamped the tops of the Lovely as  a Tree stamp in Sahara Sand ink so just the tops of the trees stamp on the card stock.

Sponged just a hint of Basic Gray ink at the post it note edge.

Removed the post it note and sponged a bit of Basic Gray ink (lightly) in the bottom section of the card stock.

Covered the bottom of the card stock again with the post it note mask and then stamped the trees using Basic Black ink.

Removed the mask and then added trunks for the trees using the fine end of a Basic Black marker.

Sponged Basic Black ink at the bottom of the card stock for the ground.

Layered the main image panel with 2 Basic Black panels and a Baja Breeze panel.   But first, I edged the main image panel and the smallest Basic Black panel and Baja Breeze panel using a Silver Metallic Sharpie Marker.

Added Silver Mini Brads.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

A Nest With Depth – Tutorial #515

Brayered Tempting Turquoise ink at an angle on a 3.5″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

Brayered Not Quite Navy ink just in the top right hand corner of the card stock.

Colored directly on the stamp, Old Olive for the leaves and Soft Suede for the branch.  Huffed on the stamp to moisten and then stamped it on the card stock.

Added a shadow on the bottom of the branch using a Chocolate Chip Marker.

Stamped the bird’s nest using Chocolate Chip ink on Crumb Cake card stock.

Colored the leaves with an Old Olive marker.

Punched the center of the nest out using a 3/4″ circle punch.

Sponged Chocolate Chip ink around the punch out center and the middle of the nest.

Glued the center of the nest on the card stock.

Used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the out side circle of the nest.

Stamped the eggs on Whisper White card stock using Tempting Turquoise ink.  Cut them out and glued them inside the nest.

 

Stamped the sentiment using Chocolate Chip ink.

Using the new Large scallop Edgelit, cut the scallop out of Real Red card stock using the Big Shot machine.   Love, love the edgelits!  Super simple to use.

Added a 5.5″ x 11″ piece of Crumb Cake card stock, folded in 1/2 and a 5.25″ square piece of Summer Smooches DSP.   Also added some Real Red Ribbon.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.5″ square.

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Tempting Turquoise, Not Quite Navy, Real Read and Basic Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponge, Brayer, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Piercing Tool and Mat, Post it Note, Brads and White Gel Pen

Brayered Tempting Turquoise ink on both the top and bottom of a 6.25″ x 3.25″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

 

 

Brayered Not Quite Navy ink on both ends of the card stock, not covering the Tempting Turquoise ink entirely.

Masked the sky with a post it note and sponged Not Quite Navy ink along the post it note edge to create my horizon line.

Stamped the balloon upside down on the main image panel in the water area.   Also, stamped the balloon on a scrap piece of Whisper White.

Stamped the basket with Basic Black upside down at the bottom of the balloon and in the sky directly above the one in the water.

Cut out the balloon for the sky and adhered it on the main image panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stamped the clouds in the sky using Not Quite Navy ink.

Stamped the Birds in the sky using Basic Black ink.

Colored in the clouds and added water lines using a White Gel Pen.

 

Adhered the main image panel to a 5″ x 6.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

Cut 1″ wide strips of Designer series paper and cut a “v” in the end of each one.

Adhered them to the right side of the card stock.

Flipped the card stock over and cut the strips even with the card stock.

Using the piercing mat and piercing tool, pierced holes in a line down the right side of the card stock.

Drew a Basic Black marker line from one hole to the next to create some faux stitching down.

Added 3 brads.

Added a 6.5″ x 10″ Whisper White card to the back.   Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.
