Sew It – Tutorial #384

Holy Mackerel!  I just received my Stampin’ Up pre-order from the new Occasions Mini Catalog that will be in effect from January 4, 2011 through April 30, 2011.   Just let me say, I fell in love with so many of the new stamp sets.  I purchased just about everything in the new mini as fast as I could.   You can probably tell by the photo below that I got a bit carried away. . . .   I love new rubber!

I cannot show you the complete stamp sets or embellishments prior to January 4th, but I am allowed to give you a sneak peep by using the new stamps in my projects.    Let me say “You sewers out there will be so very happy”.  The thread image is from an up and coming Stampin’ Up set “Sew Suite”.  I don’t even sew and I had to have the set, lol.

One announcement before I get started on the tutorial.  I have added the Jefferson, Louisiana to my Brayer Workshop calendar.

Stamped the thread stamp on a 3.25″ x 6.25″ piece of Whisper White by first loading the stamp with Versamark and then with Basic Black ink before stamping it. Repeated 2 more times.

Heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Colored the middle of the green spool using a Certainly Celery marker.

Colored in Old Olive marker and smudged the edge lines (where the two colors meet) using a Blender Pen.

Added Always Artichoke marker to the sides of the spool and smudged the edges using a Blender pen.

Repeated the process using a light, medium and dark color of pink for the second spool.  Used Pretty in Pink marker, Regal Rose marker, Rose Red marker and a Blender Pen.

Repeated again using River Rock marker, Soft Suede marker, Chocolate Chip marker and a Blender pen.

Added Crumb Cake Marker to each spool end.

Added Chocolate Chip marker to each edge of the spools and blended the edges of color with a Blender Pen.

Sorry Folks, I changed my mind and decided to give the third spool a yellow cast by adding So Saffron marker to the middle of it and More Mustard to the edges.  Yeah, that’s better, looks like gold thread now.  🙂

Colored over the spools with a Versamark marker, making sure not to go outside of the image lines and heat embossed them using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.   Repeated again to make sure the images were fully covered and protected.   The should look like glass.

Maked the top of the card stock and brayered Baja Breeze at the top of the unmasked area to create the counter.

Brayered Not Quite Navy at the top of the unmasked area, not covering the Baja Breeze ink entirely.

Removed the mask and buffed off my images lightly to remove any ink on them.

Masked the bottom of the card stock.

Stamped my unmounted Boho Friend Wheel using Baja Breeze ink.

Brayered Baja Breeze ink at the top of the card stock.

Sponge Not Quite Navy ink on all the edges of the card stock.

Add a bit of white gel pen to the wood part of the spools to create a highlight.  Rubbed the gel pen a bit when it is wet to soften.

Added Soft Suede and Early Espresso card stock panels and a 1/2″ strip of Soft Suede to the middle left side.

Punced a Design Label punch from Baja Breeze card stock and a 1″ circle punch from Soft Suede card stock.

Added a some Stampin’ Up Silver Hodgepodge Hardware.

Here is the finished card measuring 4″ x 8.5″.

I hope you like this project.

May your day be filled with new and exciting things.

Until my next post.. . . . . .  . .

Hugs,

Michelle

Golf Anyone – Tutorial #363

dsc05149.JPG

Any golf fans out there?   I took up golf years ago, not because I loved the game, but because I wanted to be out walking the pretty golf courses, lol.  Today’s tutorial teaches how to get depth in a round object with shading and how to create a shadow for a round object.   This card will more than likely go to one of the men in my life.  No, I don’t have more than one husband or a boyfriend on the side, lol.  I have one husband and two sons, lol.  Since I think this will be given to a man, I kept the layout super simple without any frills and let the scene be the main focus.   Hope you like it.

Supplies:

Paper: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Basic Black and River Rock
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Sahara Sand, Always Artichoke, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy and Tempting Turquoise
Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponges, 1 1/4″ circle punch, Oval Punch, Brayer, Post it Note, Small Dots Texture Plate and Big Shot Machine

The brand new USA Idea book and Catalog is here.   For your copy, please send a check for $9.95 to Michelle Zindorf, P.O. dsc05150.JPG

Started out by running a piece of Whisper White card stock through my Big Shot Machine using the Small Dots Texture Plate.

dsc05130.JPG

Punched a 1 1/4″ circle punch out of the now textured card stock.

dsc05131.JPG

I want the dots to be inverted so they are dimples on my golf ball.  You will want to make sure you are shading the right side of the golf ball.  🙂

Sponged Sahara Sand ink at the bottom of the golf ball and just a slight bit around the top edge.

dsc05142.JPG

Sponged just a Always Artichoke ink at the very bottom of the golf ball.

dsc05145.JPG

Masked the bottom half of a 3″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White Card stock with a post it note.

dsc05135.JPG

Brayered Tempting Turquoise ink at the top of the card stock.

dsc05136.JPG

Brayered Not Quite Navy ink at the very top of the card stock.

dsc05137.JPG

Took the post it note mask off and put it back on to mask the sky area of the card stock.

dsc05138.JPG

Brayered Old Olive ink at the bottom of the card stock.

dsc05139.JPG

Brayered Always Artichoke ink at the very bottom of the card stock.

dsc05140.JPG

Sponged Always Artichoke ink at the post it note edge.

dsc05141.JPG

Punched an Oval out of scrap card stock.

dsc05134.JPG

Used the Negative part of the punch as a mask and sponged Basic Black ink in the hole to create a hole in my scene.

dsc05143.JPG

Used the negative hole from the Golf ball punch as a mask and sponged Always Artichoke ink in the hole to create the golf ball shadow.

dsc05144.JPG

Removed the mask and adhered the golf ball on the card stock.  Added 2 Black panels and 1 River Rock panel.

Here is my finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

dsc05149.JPG

May your day be one of much pleasure.  I will be spending the rest of my day prepping and packing for my Auburn, Washington Brayer Workshops.   I can’t wait to get there!

Until my next post. . . .  . . . . . . . .  .

Happy Friday Everyone!  So sorry, no stamping tutorial today.   If I ever figure out how to drive and stamp. . . . . .lol.  Boy, that sounds really dangerous.

Anyway, I am in Grinnell, Iowa this weekend to teach my brayer workshops.  I have to say “I LOVE MY JOB”.

Drove over today.  From Ohio I had to drive through Indiana, Illinois and then into Iowa.  To stretch my legs this morning I stopped at Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve in Mahomet, Illinois.  It was a very pretty place so early in the morning.  This is what I saw.  🙂

I love to take photos of light hitting foliage when it is all covered with dew.

imgp0713.JPG

I caught these beautiful Doe out with their fawns.  I must have taken 100 photos of them.  They just kept letting me get closer and closer.   Finally, enough was enough and they sprinted.

  imgp0694.JPG   imgp0709.JPG

How about this cute little guy or gal.  🙂

imgp0719.JPG

More scenery.

 imgp0730.JPG  imgp0740.JPG

This is what happens when I get bored driving.  🙂   I take pics of my rear view mirrors.

imgp0674.JPG   imgp0677.JPG

Thank you for suffering though some of my travel pictures, lol.

Until my next post. . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle

A Bit Creepy – Tutorial #358

dsc05036.JPG

What’s up Peeps?   It’s Monday again already.  Where did the weekend go?

Russ and I spent the weekend fishing, fishing and more fishing.  Here are a couple of pics I took at Caesars Creek Lake.  We caught some Blue Gill and I caught my very first Large Mouth Bass.  That was exciting!    Sorry, no picture of the Bass.  Russ and I practice catch and release and we released it and then thought of the camera, lol.  You will just have to take my word for it, it was big and fabulous.  🙂

dsc05034.JPG

Stamped the Grasses stamp from the Stampin’ Up set Inspired by Nature on a 4″ x 6″ piece of Whisper White card stock by first loading the stamp with Versamark and then with Always Artichoke ink before stamping it.  I stamped it twice loading each time.

dsc05003.JPG

Heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

dsc05004.JPG

Masked the bottom 1/2″ of card stock with a post it note.

dsc05005.JPG

Stamped the tombstone stamp from the Graveyard Gala set, at an angle, by first loading it with Versamark and then with Basic Black ink before stamping it.  Omitted the center of the stamp by not loading it with Versamark or ink.

dsc05006.JPG

Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

dsc05007.JPG

Colored the edges of the tombstone and skull with a Sahara Sand Marker.

dsc05008.JPG

Colored in the tombstone with a Crumb Cake Marker.

dsc05009.JPG

Colored over the image with a Versamark marker and heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

dsc05010.JPG

dsc05011.JPG

Stamped the Owl from the Stampin’ Up set Dark & Dreary by first loading the stamp with Versamark and then with Basic Black ink before stamping it.  Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

dsc05012.JPG

dsc05013.JPG

Colored in the Owls eyes with a More Mustard marker and then colored over the entire image with a Versamark marker and then heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

dsc05014.JPG

dsc05015.JPG

Now my images are all heat embossed and will resist the background ink I’m about the put on.

Punched a 2.5″ circle from the sticky part of a post it note and used it as a mask for the moon.

Brayered Not Quite Navy ink at the top of the card stock.

dsc05016.JPG

Brayered Elegant Eggplant ink at the top of the card stock, not covering the Not Quite Navy ink entirely.

dsc05017.JPG

Removed Moon mask and brayered just a touch of Not Quite Navy ink on the top of the card stock to give the moon a bit of color.

dsc05018.JPG

Sponged Always Artichoke ink at the bottom of the card stock.

dsc05019.JPG

Sponged Basic Black ink at the very bottom of the card stock.

dsc05020.JPG

Wiped the ink off of my embossed images using a paper towel.

dsc05021.JPG

Added a cross for the owl to sit on using a Basic Black marker and a ruler.

dsc05022.JPG

dsc05023.JPG

Ripped the top left corner off of the main image panel.

dsc05024.JPG

Sponged Basic Black ink around the edges.

dsc05025.JPG

Added a bit of white gel pen highlights to the cross and the top of the tombstone.

dsc05026.JPG

Added Elegant Eggplant and River Rock panels.  Using piercing tools, pierced holes done each side of the card front.

dsc05027.JPG

Added Gray brads and here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

dsc05036.JPG

Have a super Monday!
