Coffee for Two – Tutorial #557

Hey There,

Thought I would warm things up today with this Winter coffee card.  This would be a great little card to stuff a coffee gift card in.

This card shows how to do a reverse image and emboss resist.  Hang out a while and check out the tutorial for this card below.

****************************************

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stampin’ Up! Stamps: Scentsational Season (121190)and Winter Memories (127937)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Chocolate Chip and Cherry Cobbler

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Cherry Cobbler, Chocolate Chip, Basic Black, Always Artichoke, Old Olive and Soft Suede

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponges, Gold Brads, Cherry Cobbler Quilted Satin Ribbon, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Labels Collection Framelits (125598), Black Marker, Cherry Cobbler Marker, Chocolate Chip Marker, Big Shot Machine, Heat Gun and Clear embossing Powder

Using the second to the largest Framelit in the Labels Collection, die cut the shape using Whisper White card stock and the Big Shot Machine.

Made a reverse image of the coffee cup by stamping the image in Cherry Cobbler ink on my Stamp-a-ma-jig clear plastic sheet and then flip the plastic sheet over onto the card stock and rubbed the image onto the card stock.  Note:  the image is not crystal clear.

Stamped the coffee cup using cherry cobbler ink onto the card stock.  I now have 2 cups.

Colored both cups in using a Cherry Cobbler marker.

Colored the coffee in the cups using a Chocolate Chip marker.

Heated the images to set the marker and then colored the sides of the coffee cups with Cherry Cobbler marker to create some shading so the cup looks rounded.

Colored over the coffee cups with a Versamarker and then heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.  Be careful to stay inside of the image with the Versamarker.

Masked the top of the card stock using a post it note and sponged Soft Suede ink in the unmasked area.

Sponged Chocolate Chip at the post it note edge.

Removed the mask.

Masked the bottom of the card stock leaving a bit of the brown showing above the post it note.  Sponged Old Olive ink the white area.

Sponged Always Artichoke ink at the bottom of the Old Olive area.

Stamped the steam image above both coffee cups using Always Artichoke ink.

Stamped the stars above the brown using Always Artichoke ink.  Whipped off the embossed images using a paper towel to remove any Always Artichoke ink from them.

Sponged the edges of the card stock using Aways Artichoke ink.

Stamped the Sentiment using Basic Black ink.

Cut a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock and sponged Chocolate Chip ink around the edges.

Embossed the panel using the Square Lattice embossing folder and the Big Shot Machine.

Adhered the main image panel to the Cherry Cobbler panel and then added two gold brads.

Adhered the Cherry Cobbler panel to a 4.25″ x 5.5″ Chocolate Chip Card stock base.  (8.5″ x 4.25″ folded in half).

Added a cherry cobbler quilted satin ribbon to the folded area.

Darkened the sentiment using a black marker.

Here is the finished project measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″.

May your day be filled with love and warmth.

Check out the great deals at Stampin’ Up! below.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Hugs,

Multiple Gift Card Holder – Tutorial #555

Hello from Ohio,

I have a few people that will be getting multiple gift cards from us for Christmas.  With that being said I wanted something extra special for the gift cards to be presented in.  This is a great gift for those people that have everything or you just don’t know what to get them.

I’ve seen many gift card holders that hold one card but was having trouble finding one that would hold more than one.  So today’s project is what I came up with.  It can be adapted to hold as many or as few as you would like.  I created mine to hold 6 gift cards each.  It looks like a little book when finished.  Also, I didn’t want this project to be girlie so I kept the embellishments down to a minimum.

The tutorial for this project can be found below.  Let me know what you think.   ENJOY!

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stampin’ Up! Stamps: Snowflake Soiree (127915) and Joyous Celebrations (128069)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Sahara Sand and Not Quite Navy

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Bashful Blue, Basic Black and Not Quite Navy

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! sponges, Sticky Strip, Word Window punch, Decorative Label Punch, 1 3/8″ circle punch, Simply Scored tool, silver brads, Flourish Designer Frames (127835) and post it notes

4.25″ x 11″ pieces of Bashful Blue card stock.  You will need 3 1/2 of these for each gift card holder.  Stamped the Snowflake Soiree snowflakes all over the card stock using Bashful Blue ink.

Scored the card stock every 2.75″ (3 scores per piece).

Folded the card stock in accordion fashion.  Added sticky strip to the right side of each valley when the card stock is turned face down.

Stick the pockets together.   You will have 6 pockets and there should be a 2.75″ piece at each end that will be the inside cover on the front and back.

Punch to word window punches on each pocket lining the punch up with the top and bottom of the pocket and only punching 1/2 of the punch as shown below.   Next, punch the 1/3 circle in the middle of the two word window punches as shown below.

It should looke like this.   Repeat for each pocket (six times).

Cut a 4.5″ x 6.5″ piece of Sahara Sand card stock.  Score at 3″ and 3.5″.  This is the cover for your book.

Cut a 2.75″ X 4.25″ Piece of Whisper White card stock and tare a jagged edge at the top of the sticky portion of a post it note.  Mask the snow using the post it note.  Sponge Bashful Blue ink all over the unmask area and then sponged Not Quite Navy ink at the top of the card stock.

Stamp the foliage stamp from the Joyous Celebrations set at the post it note edge on the right side a few times with Bashful Blue ink.  Rip a mountain shape in an additional post it note and put it at the top of the card stock.  Sponge Not Quite Navy ink in the mountain shape and along the horizon line post it note.

Remove the mountain shaped post it note and move the horizon line post it note down and to a slight slant.  Sponge Bashful Blue ink above the post it note.   Move the post it note down again, slanting the opposite direction and sponge Bashful Blue ink above the post it note.    Remove the post it note entirely and sponge Bashful Blue ink at the very bottom of the card stock.

Stamp the deer using Basic Black ink.

Cut a 2.75″ x 4.25″ piece of Not Quite Navy card stock for the back of the cover and stamped the snowflakes on it using Not Quite Navy ink.   Adhered the Not Quite Navy panel and the main image panel to the cover.

Added Sticky Strip the front and back panel of the inside book and attached it to the cover.

Cut a 1/2″ x 8.5″ strip of Sahara Sand card stock and sponged Not Quite Navy ink on the edges.  Using sticky strip, wrapped the strip around the book (NOT REAL TIGHT) and adhered the overlapping ends using sticky strip at the front of the book.

Stamped December 25 stamp on Sahara Sand card stock using Basic Black ink and then punched it out using the Decorative Label punch.  Sponged Not Quite Navy ink around the edges of the punch and then adhered it to the belly band.  Added Designer frame using silver brads.  Note:  I put a piece of clear tape over the back of the brads so they would not get hung up when sliding the belly band on and off of the book.

Here is the finshed gift card holders.

May your creativity be overflower today.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Project Supplies:

Stampin’ Up! Stamps: Merry Minis and Joyous Celebrations

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White and Island Indigo

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Baja Breeze, Island Indigo and Basic Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! sponge, curly label punch, brayer, post it notes, 1.25″ circle punch, Baja Breeze Designer Series Paper and rhinestones

Masked the snow with a post it note with the edge torn and a 1 1/4″ circle punched from a post it note to mask for the moon.

Brayered Baja Breeze ink at the top of the card stock.

Stamped the trees using Baja Breeze ink and then brayered Island Indigo ink at the very top of the card stock.

Sponged Baja Breeze ink along the post it note edge.  Removed the masks and stamped the deer using Basic Black ink.

Created a reverse image of the deer for a shadow by stamping the deer using Baja Breeze ink on the slick side of my Stamp a ma jig plastic sheet.  Flipped the plastic sheet over and lined the deer image up where I wanted it then rubbed it on the card stock.

Colored in the reverse image using a Baja Breeze marker to darken it.

Re-applied the snow mask at an angle under the reverse image and sponged Baja Breeze ink along the post it note edge to create a small hill at the bottom of the scene.

Added an Island Indigo card base and an Island Indigo panel.  Also added a panel of Baja Breeze DSP.

Added a curly label punch that has been cut in half and 4 rhinestones.

Here is the completed card measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″.

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stampin’ Up! Stamps: French Foliage

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Summer Starfruit and Chocolate Chip

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Old Olive, Summer Starfruit, More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Word Window punch, Piercing Tools, Gold Marker, Basic Black and Chocolate Chip markers and Stampin’ Dimensionals

Started with a 3.25″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.   Smeared the ink from a Pumpkin Pie ink pad using an upward motion on the top of the card stock.    Also smeared More Mustard ink below the Pumpkin Pie ink using an upward motion and smearing it 1/2 way into the Pumpkin Pie ink.

Smeared Summer Starfruit ink under the More Mustard ink over lapping the more Mustard ink.    Next dabbed the Old Olive pad on the card stock lightly not covering the inks underneath.   You want the colors underneath to be able to shine through.

Stamped the text stamp from the French Foliage set on the right and left sides of the card stock using Basic Black ink.

Drew in a branch using a Chocolate Chip marker.   Added leaves to the branch using Basic Black ink.

Added Gold marker to the left side of the branches and the edges of the panel and Basic Black marker to the right sides of the branches.

Punched 3 Word Window punches out of Chocolate Chip card stock.  Cut a 4″ x 5.25″ panel from Summer Starfruit card stock and embossed the panel using an embossing folder and the Big Shot machine.

Adhered the main image panel to the embossed panel.  Added the word window punches that have one end of them cut off.  Pierced holes in the word window punches using a piercing tool.

Stamped 3 additional  leaves on a scrap of Summer Starfruit card stock using Basic Black ink.   Cut them out.   Adhered them over the stamped leaves on the main image panel using a Stampin’ Dimensional and glue at the bottom of the leave.   This lets the top of each leave to pop off the card stock.  🙂

Added Brads and a Chocolate Chip card base.

Here is the finished card measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″.

Leaves of a Different Color – Tutorial #548

Happy Friday!

I love using this little bird punch and matching Stampin’ Up! stamp set, Language of Friendship.  The punch made making the bird and leaves a breeze.    The background is  a combination of the direct to paper technique and stamping.

I purposely made the leaves non-traditional colors for interest.

Smear a little Midnight Muse ink over some of the Island Indigo ink at the far left.   Smeared Certainly Celery at the right and left side of the card stock.

Stamped the lattice stamp from the Stampin’ Up! set, Summer Silhouettes over the dark edge of the card stock using Midnight Muse ink..   Stamped the Leaves from the Summer Silhouettes stamp set using River Rock ink all over the card stock.

Holiday Catalog Cover Ornament – Tutorial #546

Hey There,

Ever since the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog came out, I have been dying to create the ornament that is on the front cover.  Well since I was making some today, I’ve decided to share the process with you.   Believe me, this ornament is so beautiful in real life.  My picture does not capture the sparkle and wonderful layering.  This ornament is a must have!

I made 3 this morning and will be putting some more together as soon as I can.  They will be beautiful on the Zindorf family tree this year.

This ornament would also make such a great gift.  You can put a tag on the backside.  You will definitely get some ohhhs and ahhhs from the recipient.

Check out the tutorial below.

*************************************************

Stamped the large ornament with Cherry Cobbler and the small ornament with Old Olive on Very Vanilla card stock 20 times for each design.

Die cut the ornaments using the Big Shot Machine and Holiday Ornament Framelits.   I ran the small and large ones through at the same time to cut my Die cutting time in half.

Folded 15 of the large ornaments and 15 of the small ornaments in half.  Used a bone folder to make the fold crisp.   Left 5 of each size unfolded.

Glued 3 of the large ornaments together using Tombo Mono-multi glue.  Repeated 4 times.

Glued 3 of the small ornaments together using Tombo Mono – multi glue.  Repeated 4 times.

Put two way glue on the edges of the small and large ornaments and put Dazzling Diamonds on the glue.  Talk about sparkle!

Punched a 1 1/4″ circle punch from Old Olive card stock.  Put glue on one side of the circle and added the five unfolded ornaments face down, making them evenly spaced.

Glued the large folded ornaments on.

Now it’s time to get out your glue gun.    Also cut 5 pieces of Tulle.  Each piece should have 3 humps as shown.

Put my finger in the middle of the tulle and then pinched it and put a dollop of hot glue in between the ornaments and added the tulle between each ornament.

Cut 5 twelve inch pieces of Linen thread.  Folded each piece in half and then half again.  Tied a knot in the end.

Hot glued the threads knot in the center of the Old Olive ornaments.

Glued the unfolded small ornaments on the back of the folded ornaments.  Put a dollop of hot glue on the backside tip of each small ornament bundle and glued them over the tulle, in between the Old Olive ornaments.

Cut a 1″ x 12″ piece of Candle Light Christmas DSP and fun it through the big shot using the Rosette Die.  Folded the die cut paper on the fold lines (accordion style).

Gathered the card stock together and put a dollop of hot glue on the end.  Put the hot glued end on my silicone mat and let it cool.  Now the end is stuck together.

Opened up the rosette and hot glued the two ends together.

Put a large dollop of hot glue on the back side of the rosette and pushed it down in the middle of the ornament.  Hold until cooled.

Put a large pearl in the center of an antique faceted button.  Put a large dollop of hot glue on the back and put it in the center of the rosette.   Held it firmly until cooled.

Pierced a hole in the middle top of one of the Old Olive ornaments and thread a Very Vanilla ribbon through it and then tied a know in the top of the ribbon.  You can use a hole punch to make the hole also.

Here is the finished ornament.  Love it!!

Project Supplies:

Stampin’ Up! Stamps: Everything Eleanor and Lovely as a Tree

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White and Marina Mist

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Marina Mist, Midnight Muse ad Basic Gray

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Midnight Muse Marker, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Midnight Muse Ribbon

Are you getting inspiration from this blog?   One way you can help support it is to order your Stampin’ Up products through me.   Click HERE to place an order and have your order delivered directly to your door step from Stampin’ Up!

Started with a 3.5″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  Smeared Marina Mist ink on the card stock.  This is called the Direct to Paper Technique.

You don’t want even coverage here and you want to leave 1/3rd of the card stock at the bottom with no color.

Smeared Midnight Muse ink on the left side of the sky area.

Smeared Basic Gray ink at the top of the card stock.

Folded two paper towels and wet them. Put them on a pie plate and used them as my stamp pad to stamp the Everything Eleanor flourish with water.  This lifts some of the color from the card stock and reveals the design.

Loaded just the tree portion of the Lovely as a Tree stamp with Midnight Muse ink and stamped it.   Pulled the trunks down to the snow area using a Midnight Muse marker.

Added a Marina Mist panel, Midnight Muse Ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Whisper White Panel and a Marina Mist card stock base.

Here is the finished card measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″.

Colored in the flowers using a Pretty in Pink marker and blender pen.   The added Raspberry Ripple marker and blended the edges out with a blender pen.   Added So Saffron marker to the center of the flower.

I’ve started a new project.  It’s to take a photo every day.     I’ll share some of my favorite photos here on my blog with you.

This shot was taken on my deck as I watched the chickens peck around.

***************************************************************

Chicken Talk

Well the girls are finally laying, well at least 2 of them.  I’m as proud as any mother, lol.  Just look at those eggs!   A couple of them were even warm when I gathered them.  Hot off the press they were, grin.

Now the girls have an onry streak.  They have learned that they can move Lucas our dog around the yard even though he weighs over 100 lbs.  They wait until he lays down and then they start pecking the ground really close to him.  He then gets up and moves to a new spot and the process starts all over again.

I just love the pattern of spots in Red’s and Bunny’s feathers.   This would make a fun background paper, don’t you think?

******************************************************************

My heart goes out to those who are being affected by the hurricane on the East Coast.

May you be safe and warm today and always.

Well I spent the last four days traveling to and teaching in Sacramento, California.  Met some super, super stampers and had a blast teaching as usual.  Now I’m back in my stamp room and I feel the Autumn season pulling at me creatively.  So today’s tutorial makes use of a beautiful leaf stamp image from from the Stampin’ Up! set French Foliage.   Also, images from the Stampin’ Up! sets Everything Eleanor and Affection Collection.

The background is done with the Direct to Paper technique.  I love to smear ink!

The full tutorial is below for this project.  Grab your favorite beverage sit back and give it a look and then give it a try.

Before I went on my last trip I cleared out my tomato vegatable bed before the frost got to the tomatoes that were left on the plants.

Now I have a large table covered in newspaper that has many, many green tomatoes on it rippening in front of a bright window.  As they rippen I will pop them in a freezer bag and into the freezer to make sauce out of when I get the time.  Anyone else do this or is it just me?

Also, while I was away we were blessed with the first two eggs from our hens.  Wooohoooo!

Cooking Time. . . . . .

How about a side dish that you can pull out of the freeze, let thaw and bake on those busy days.

Making and Freezing Twice Baked Potatoes:

Ingredients:

13 Medium Potatoes

6 T. butter

Salt to taste

16 oz. cream cheese, softened

1 cup hot milk

2 t. onion powder

1 t. ground pepper

Paprika for garnish

******************************

Washed and brushed 2 T. of melted butter on potatoes and placed them on a baking sheet.  Baked 1 hour at 350.  Removed from over and let cool until you are able to handle them.

Cut them in half and used a melon baller to scoop out some of the potato, leaving about 1/4″ still in skin.     Put the scooped out potatoes in a mixing bowl.

Mixed in the cream cheese, 4 T. butter, salt, milk, onion powder and pepper.

Spooned the mixture back into the potato skins.  Wrapped each potato individually with plastic wrap and then put them into 3, 1 gallon freezer bags.  Labeled the bags with content, date and cooking instructions.    On serving day, thaw potatoes completely, bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes (until heated through).

Enjoy!
