I love creating direct to paper projects using the Stampin’ Spots Ink pads.  They are so very easy to control for this type of work.

On a 4 3/8″ Square piece of Whisper White card stock, smeared the edge of the Bashful Blue ink spot across the card stock.

Smeared Certainly Celery ink across the card stock.

Smeared Old Olive ink across the card stock.

Smeared Baja Breeze ink across the card stock.

Smeared Marina Mist ink across the card stock from the right side only.

Smeared So Saffron ink across the card stock from the left side only.

Smeared More Mustard ink across the top of the card stock from the left side only.

Smeared Crumb Cake ink across the card stock at the bottom of the green area.

Stamped the branch twice using Early Espresso ink.

Stamped the leaves using Always Artichoke ink.

Stamped the bird using Basic Black ink on a separate piece of Whisper White card stock and then punched it out using the bird punch.

Adhered the bird to the card stock and added White Gel Pen highlights to the leaves and branches.

Added Basic Black marker shadows under the leaves and branches.

Added an Old Olive panel, Basic Black panel and a More Mustard panel.  Added Old Olive Striped Grosgrain ribbon and Basic Black brads.

I felt the card was a little out of balance so I added a strip of More Mustard and Marina Mist card stock under the ribbon.  Also added two leave punches from Old Olive card stock.

Added Basic Black and More Mustard marker to the punched leaves.

Added More Mustard marker to some of the leaves and to the bottom of the bird’s belly.  Also added So Saffron Marker to the bird’s belly.

Here is the completed card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be filled with all of the people and things that you love.

Until my next post. . . .  . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle

Stamped two stars on a 3.5″ x 5.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock by first loading the stamp with Versamark and then loading it with Daffodil Delight ink before stamping it.  Reloaded stamp for the second image.

Heat embossed the 2 stars using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Punch a 1 3/4″ circle from the non-sticky part of a post it note.

Lined the post it note up as shown below, now punching the sticky part of the post it note to create a mask for the moon.

Put the moon mask on the card stock.

Brayered Tempting Turquoise at an angle on the Top Right Hand corner.

Brayered Not Quite Navy ink at the top right hand corner and top left hand corner at an angle.

Brayered Not Quite Navy ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Repeated the brayering  that I did with the Not Quite Navy ink using Night of Navy ink and not covering the Not Quite Navy ink entirely creating a variation in color.

Took the moon mask off and added a whole post it note to cover the sky area of the card stock.  Sponged Tempting Turquoise ink at the post it note edge to create a horizon line.

Removed the post it note and stamped a few of the same stars in the sky using Not Quite Navy ink.

Sponged Basic Black ink at the bottom and top corners of the card stock.

Punch the Stampin’ Up Bird punch out of More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler and Soft Suede card stock, so I have a bird and wing out of Cherry Cobbler, a bird out of More Mustard and two branches out of Soft Suede.

Cut half the leaves off of one of the branches.

Sponged Basic Black ink at the bottom of the Cherry Cobbler bird and wing.  Cut the beak off of the Cherry Cobbler Bird.

Glued the Cherry Cobbler Bird on top of the More Mustard bird so just the beak shows.  Glued on the Wing.   Added Black marker to the bottom of the bird and the face of the bird.  Also added Basic Black marker to the bottom of the branches to create a shadow.

Glued the punches to the card stock.

Added White Gel pen highlights to the top of the bird and the branches.

Punched a Curly label punch out of Basic Black ink and then cut the label in half.

Added 2 Basic Black panels, 1 Bashful Blue Panel, 1 half of the Curly Label Punch and 2 gold brads.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

Stamped the “Inspired by Nature” grasses using Old Olive ink.

Removed the post it note and wiped the ink off of the embossed images with the paper towel.

Sponged Old Olive ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Placed the post it note mask back on the panel so that the bird’s feet were sticking out at the bottom of the post it note.  Sponged Early Espresso ink at the post it note edge to create the shadow under the bird.

Added a Stem and two leaves using the brush end of a Basic Black marker.

Sponged Early Espresso ink around the edges of the card stock and on the bottom left corner where the grasses are.

Added White Gel pen highlights to the flower, stem, leaves, grasses and to the top of the bird.

Cut 2 Early Espresso panels and added to Design Series panels.

Using the Tea Stain from the Stampin’ Up Distressing Essentials kit, dragged the pad across the left side of the Designer Series papers.

Distressed the edges of the Designer Series papers using the Mahogany Distressing ink from Stampin’ Up’s Distressing Essentials kit.

Assembled all the panels.  Spritzed the bottom of the card using the silver Smooch Spritz.  This gave the ground some texture and sparkle.

Added 4 Glimmer Basics Brads.  Love the sparkle on these brads.  They are not over powering.

Here is the finished project measuring 5.5″ square.

May you also get your fix of embossing powder today.

Until my next post. . . .  .

Hugs,

Michelle

Ripped a couple of post it notes and masked the bottom of  a 4″ x 5.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock (Snow area).

Brayered Not Quite Navy ink in the sky area.  Also brayered Night of Navy at the top of the card stock.

Stamped the Pine trees from the Stampin’ Up set Plant Hope using Basic Black ink.

Repositioned the post it note mask to show some of the snow area above it.  Sponged Baja Breeze ink at the post it note edge.

Removed the post it note mask and sponged Baja Breeze ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Stamped the Deer from the Stampin’ Up set Winter post on the card stock using Basic Black ink.  Stamped the deer again on a Stamp-a-ma-jig plastic using Basic Black ink and flipped it over onto the card stock and rubbed the back of the plastic to transfer the image.

The reverse image will come out faint.

Colored in the reverse image using a Basic Black marker.

Added a star in the sky by making a cross and then an “x” over it using a ruler and a White gel pen.

Added random dots of White Gel pen in the sky area.

Added a panel of Sahara Sand so it showed only at the bottom and left side of the main image panel.

Added Whisper White, Baja Breeze and Basic Black panels.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

Sentimental Journey in the Sky – Tutorial #351

dsc04763.JPG

Happy Monday Everyone!   I hope your weekend was relaxing and you were able to regenerate so you could start another week fully charged.   I taught in Middleburg Heights, Ohio on Saturday and traveled back home on Saturday evening.  It was so nice to sleep in my own bed for a change.  I was able to wake up, have breakfast with Russ and then see the new Twilight movie.  Love it!

If you haven’t noticed, I travel a great deal.   Traveling allot made this Stampin’ Up! set “Sentimental Journey” very appealing to me and I just had to have it.  My card today showcases how you can use sponged on Versamark that has been heat embossed with clear embossing powder to protect the white of the paper to create clouds and the plane’s exhaust.

Before we get going on the tutorial though I have two announcements to make.

First, I have added the wonderful town of La Porte, Indiana to my Calendar of Cities I will be teaching my Brayer Workshops in.  Hope to see you there.  🙂

Second, I have a Lucky Blog Candy winner to announce.

dsc04738.JPG  The winner of the Stampin’ Up! set “Inspired by Nature” is. . .. . . . .. . . . . …. .  .  . . . .

Bobbie in Montana, who wrote “This is my absolute, all time favorite stamp set!!! I would looove to win it! Your cards are spectacular; your talent and creativity amazing. Thanks for the inspiration!”

Bobbie, congratulations!   Please e-mail your address to mzindorf@aim.com within 30 days and I will pop this set into the mail to you.

Thank you to all who played along.  I hope you are the winner next week.  🙂

Now on with the tutorial. . . . .  .

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Sentimental Journey
Paper: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo and Basic Black
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point, Not Quite Navy and Basic Black
Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Mat Pack, Piercing Tool, Brayer, Sponge, Clear Embossing powder, Heat gun, Tulipe Die, Big Shot, Black Brads and Stamp-a-ma-jig

dsc04764.JPG

Now in the first 4 photos you are not going to be able to see what I have actually done on the card stock.  You will need to look at photo 5 for placement.  🙂

On a 2.5″ x 4.75″ Piece of Whisper White card stock sponged Versamark on the top left and bottom right corners of the card stock.  Heat embossed the corners using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

dsc04747.JPG

dsc04748.JPG

Added 2 post it notes and sponged Versamark in the unmasked area to create the exhaust and then heat embossed it using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.  Note:  leave the post it notes on the card stock until you are done heat embossing.

dsc04749.JPG

dsc04750.JPG

Removed the masks.  Brayered Tempting Turquoise ink on the card stock from the top down.  Now you can see the places I heat embossed.

dsc04751.JPG

Brayered Pacific Point ink at the top of the card stock, not covering the Tempting Turquoise ink entirely.

dsc04752.JPG

Wiped the excess ink off of the embossed images using a paper towel.

dsc04753.JPG

Using a Stamp-a-ma-jig for placement, stamped the plane using Basic Black ink.

dsc04754.JPG

Stamped the sentiment using Pacific Point ink.

dsc04755.JPG

Sponged Not Quite Navy ink around the edges of the card stock.

dsc04756.JPG

Added Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black and Melon Mambo card stock panels.

Also added part of a Tulipe die, die cut from Basic Black card stock, Basic Black brads and pierced to lines of wholes using a piercing tool and  the mat pack for placement.

dsc04757.JPG

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

dsc04763.JPG

May your personal journey be life fulfilling.

Until my next post. . . . . .. .

Hugs,

Michelle

Started with a 4.25″ x 5.75″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  Stamped the cat on my Stamp-a-ma-jig plastic, flipped the plastic over onto the card stock and rubbed the back of the plastic to transfer the image.  This creates a reverse of your stamp.

dsc03801.JPG

Used my Stamp-a-ma-jig, cat stamp and Basic Black ink to stamp the cat image, lining it up with the reverse image.

dsc03802.JPG

dsc03803.JPG

dsc03804.JPG

Brayered Night of Navy at the same angles using Night of Navy ink, not covering up the Not Quite Navy ink entirely.

dsc03809.JPG

Brayered Going Gray at the bottom of the card stock.

dsc03810.JPG

Punched a 1/2″ circle punch from Whisper White card stock.  Punch a 3/4″ punch from Apricot Appeal card stock.

dsc03812.JPG

Punched a 3/4″ punch out of Basic Black card stock.  Lined the punch up with the circle in the card stock and punched a sliver of the circle out.
