Hi There,

I broke two Stampin’ Up! sets out today that work perfectly together, Clockworks and The Open Seas.  Don’t they look great together?

In my tutorial today I will show you how to achieve that open book look with just a bit of masking and shading.   Check it out below.

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Clockworks (item #127292) and The Open Sea (item #123032)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Early Espresso, Sahara Sand and Stazon Jet Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Sponge, 1 1/4″, 1 3/8″, and 2 1/2″ Circle punches, Sahara Sand marker, Vingage Trinkets and post it note

Stamped the journal stamp from the Stampin’ Up! set The Open Seas using Stazon Jet Black ink twice on a 4″ square piece of Whisper White card stock.

Masked the left side of the card stock and sponged Sahara Sand ink at the masks edge.

Remvoed the mask and sponged Sahara Sand ink on the left side of the card stock and on the very edge of the Right side.

Stamped the Watch on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock using Early Espresso ink.

Stamped the clock face on the card stock using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Stamped the cog in the center of the clock face using Early Espresso ink.

Stamped the clock hans using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Punched the two images out using a 1 3/8″ and 1 1/4″ circle punches.

Stamped the clock again using Early Espresso ink on the journal and colored the watch with a Sahara Sand marker (this step not shown).

Sponged Sahara Sand ink around the edge of the clock face and colored/

Cut a 5.25″ Crumb Cake panel and stamped the Clockworks flourish around the edge using Early Espresso ink.

Sponged Early Espress ink around the edges of the main image panel and Crumb Cake panel.  Adhered the clock pieces to the clock on the card stock.

Added a Vintage Trinkets brad to the center of the clock.

Stamp the World stamp from the Open Seas set on Crumb Cake card stock using Stazon Jet Black ink, twice.

Punched them out using the 2 1/2″ circle punch.

Sponged Early Espresso ink around the edges.

Cut 1/3 of the circles off, holding them together and cutting them at the same time so they are the same size.

Added a 5.5″ square Early Espresso card base and a 4 1/8″ square Early Espresso panel below my main image panel.  Added the globe images.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.5″ square.

Stampin’ Up’s Color Refresh! I love color and I know that you do too. Color is fundamental to who Stampin’ Up! is and what they offer. It’s important for us to stay up-to-date with color trends so I am thrilled to share Stampin’ Up’s updated line of colors, and hope you will be as excited as I am by the new possibilities!

Why now? In 2010 Stampin’ Up! did a big color renovation and shared their plans for smaller color refreshes every three to five years to keep their colors on trend. Well it has been three years and I am excited to announce that the upcoming 2013-2014 annual catalog will include 10 new colors (most of which are returning In Colors from previous years)! Stampin’ Up! is welcoming back some of your favorites, moving some colors around, and introducing one brand-new color, so take a look!

Beginning on April 4, 2013, all retiring/discontinued color products (i.e. ink, paper, ribbon, accessories, etc.) will be available only while supplies last. This means that some products will not be available through the retired list period. Stampin’ Up! did anticipate increased demand and based their forecasts for these retiring colors on historical sales information from previous color transitions. However, even with the most careful planning, the response to a transition of this nature can surprise everyone–including your own personal purchases. We encourage you to get your favorites and look forward to the exciting colors coming in the 2013-2014 annual catalog.

Garden Boots – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #591

Hey there,

Are you as ready for Spring as I am?  My heavens, I’m so ready to get out in my garden.   I have a ton of seedlings growing in the house and I think they would much rather be outside with the sun on them also.

Last year, we hardly had a Winter and I was picking strawberries in March.  This year we have 6 inches of snow on the ground.  I’m hoping we have a mild Spring and Summer.   None of that drought stuff.  Can I get an Amen!

Anyhow, my frame of mind is what brought this card design to light.  Today’s tutorial uses the fun Bootiful Occasions Stampin’ Up! rubber stamp set.  This set contains a boot for every season so it is quite versatile.  I’ve also put in a fun wood wall behind the boots.  Check out my tutorial for this card below.

Introducing Photopolymer by Stampin’ Up!

Always wanted to be a graphic designer?  My favorite part about design is typography. I adore type. There’s just something inherently beautiful about letterforms and what happens when you stack them to create different shapes and combine them to say different things.  So without further adieu, let me introduce you to the Designer Typeset Stamp Set. It’s based around a really great san serif font that will work well on just about any project. And then there are embellishments and shapes to take whatever you want to say to the next level. The possibilities are seriously endless.

I’ll admit, once you start playing around with the stamp set, you will have a hard time stopping!

But before we get too carried away, let’s get to talking about the benefits of photopolymer stamps. For those who are unfamiliar, let me point out a couple of things that are really cool.

First, they’re completely clear, making it oh-so-easy to stamp exactly where you want. They come unmounted, on an acetate sheet, and temporarily adhere to our clear blocks. Awesome!

Second, they are pliable. Want your arrow to shoot a certain way? No problem! Want your banner to have the perfect sag? Easy peasy! Being able to play with the shape gives you even more creative freedom.

So let’s get down to the nitty gritty. The Designer Typeset Stamp Sets in the online store starting now. So just click HERE to order yours today!

Emboss, Emboss Inspired Mountain – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #579

Hello There,

Today’s tutorial is inspired by an beautiful painting by Michael Timmons titled Floral Cochineal.   What first drew me to his painting was the colors and then the layers of flourishes he used.  It inspired me so very much that I instantly wanted to sit down and see if I could create something very similar using my Stampin’ Up! products.   So here it is.  What do you think?

I titled this piece Emboss, Emboss Inspired Mountain because there is a lot of embossing in this project.  Did you know you can emboss over embossing. That’s right and the second embossing ends up behind the first.  It’s a fun technique.  One thing to know before you start a scene like this is to start with your forground and work towards your background.  Check out the complete tutorial below.

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up!  Flowering Flourishes (item number 126367) and Tiny Tags

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Old Olive, Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler

Ink: Stampin’ Up! More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso and Old Olive

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! sponges, Versamark Pad, Piercing Tools, Exacto knife, glass mat, Framelits – Labels Collection, Big Shot Machine, Clear embossing powder and a heat gun

Started by die cutting a Whisper White piece using the second to the largest Framelit from the Labels Collection.   Also cut the Largest one out of Old Olive card stock.

Stamped the flourish from the Flowering Flourishes set by loading my stamp with Versamark and then Cajun Craze ink before stamping it.

Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Stamp the stamp from the Tiny Tags set by loading with Versamark and then Old Olive ink before stamping it each time down the right side of the card stock.

Heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Cut mountain mask out of a scrap piece of card stock using a class mat and an Exacto Knife.

Used the bottom part of the mask on the bottom of the card stock and then stamped another flourish from the Flowering Flourishes set by loading the stamp with Versamark and More Mustard ink before stamping it.  I only wanted this image to be in the sky.

Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Sponged More Mustard ink in the sky.

Sponged Pumpkin Pike ink in the sky.

Sponged Cajun Craze ink in the sky.

Sponged Cherry Cobbler ink in the sky.

Removed the mask and gently wiped the ink off of the embossed images.

Masked the top of the card stock and stamped the stamp from the Tiny Tags set all over the large hill by loading my stamp with Versamark and Old Olive ink before stamping it each time.

Embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Sponged Cherry Cobbler ink over the bottom of the card stock.

Sponged Early Espresso ink at the top of the hill and then sponged Basic Black ink along the masked edge to darken the outline.

Removed the mask and gently wiped the ink from the embossed images using a paper towel.

Added a Modern Label Punched from Early Espresso ink.  Cut this punch in half.

Also added a 6.5″ x 10″ Whisper White card stock base folded in half, 5″ x 6.5″ Old Olive panel, 4.75″ x 6.25″ Cherry Cobbler Panel, 4.25″ x 5″ Early Espresso panel, and the Old Olive die cut.

Pierced seven holes at the top and bottom of each side of the Cherry Cobbler panel using piercing tools.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

Nature Walk Bird – Stampin’ Up! Tutorial #578

Hey There,

Don’t you just love the Stampin’ Up! set, Nature Walk?   It is in my top 5 of most loved Stampin’ Up! sets ever.   Really, bird, bee, butterfly, eggs,  and plants, LOVE IT!!!

The bird is easy to color and that makes for a quick scene and that is exactly want I did in today’s card tutorial.    I think this bird is saying “come on Spring!”  My heart is singing it also, lol.

I’ve been busy, busy, busy starting my garden seeds and making hand crafted natural soaps.  Fun stuff!  So many hobbies so little time.  I did get tickled at a comment I received on facebook.  Someone was afraid I had quite stamping since I was talking about gardening.  Boy oh boy, thank goodness I can have more than one hobby.   In actuality I have about 50 hobbies, grin.   I love paper crafting and can’t imagine living without it.  Anyone else feel that way?  Just imagine if something happened and you couldn’t paper craft, shiver. . . . .

Any how, my tutorial for today is below, enjoy!

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies: Stampin’ Up!  Bloomin’ Marvelous (Sale-a-bration set) and En Francais Background Stamp

Stamps:  Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Baja Breeze, River Rock and Rich Razzelberry

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Soft Suede, Rich Razzelberry, Old Olive, Island Indigo, Pretty in Pink, Baja Breeze and River Rock

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! sponge daubers, clear embossing powder, heat gun, Versmark Pad, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Baja Breeze Seam Binding, Brayer, Square Lattice Embossing Folder and Big Shot Machine

Brayered Baja Breeze ink at an angle starting off of the corner of a 3″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  Brayered River Rock ink starting off the opposite corner.

Loaded the En Francais background stamp with Soft Suede ink and put the main image panel on top of it.  Layered a piece of scrap paper on top of that and rubbed the back of the scrap paper.   I find this method easier than trying to stamp straight on a piece of paper that is smaller than my stamp.

Dryed my card stock using my heat gun and the stamped the flower 3 times on the lower right corner and the hummingbird using Versamark Pad for ink.  Heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Sponged Island Indigo ink over the hummingbird and Pretty in Pink in over the flowers using sponge daubers.  Sponged Rich Razzelberry ink in the center of the flowers.

Stamped the leaves in the lower right corner using Old Olive ink and then wiped the ink off of the embossed images.

Sponged Rich Razzelberry ink around the edges of the card stock.

Cut a 5.25″ x 4″ piece of River Rock card stock and stamped the En Francais back ground stamp on it using Soft Suede ink.

Embossed the card stock using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and Big Shot Machine.

Added 2 Rich Razzelberry Panels,Baja Breeze panel, Baja Breeze seam binding ribbon and a Whisper White card base.  Popped my main image panel up using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here is the completed card measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″.

May you find peace in your soul today.

Just Swinging – Tutorial #574

Hi There,

The ground is covered with snow here in West Alexandria, Ohio and I have gotten the itch to dig in the dirt.   Spring cannot get here fast enough for me.  It’s the gardener in me that just wants to get her hands dirty.   But, since I cannot dig in the frozen ground I lassoed my husband in to helping me with my seed starting project.

I usually start my vegetable seeds for my garden by window light but my plants sometimes get leggy so we put this adjustable light stand together last night from scratch.  It’s made out of PVC pipe and it was so simple to assemble.   Here is a link to the blog that I got the instructions from:  http://nogginsandnonsense.blogspot.com/2011/03/ready-set-go-garden-go.html

I just thought I would pass this info along to my gardening friends.  This stand is economical and rocks!

About what you really come to my blog for. . . . .I created a tutorial for you today using the Stampin’ Up! set Forever Young.  Oh, to be young and just hang out on a swing.   Don’t you miss those days?   Why did we ever want to grow up?

I brayered my sky in at an angle on this scene to create this lovely light effect.   Check out my tutorial for this project below.

Project Supplies:

Stampin’ Up! Stamps: Bloomin’ Marvelous (Free Sale-a-bration set, item number 129654)CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT THE SALE-A-BRATION PRODUCTS!

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Cajun Craze, Tempting Turquoise and Soft Suede

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Tempting Turquoise, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive and Cajun Craze

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! sponges, brayer, Framelits-Apothecary Accents, Big Shot Machine, Clear embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Tempting Turquoise and More Mustard markers, Versamark pad, Designer Builder Brads, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Silver Brad, small hole punch, Soft Suede Ribbon

Using the Framelits – Apothecary Accents and the Big Shot Machine, I die cut my main image panel.

Loaded the flower stamp from the Bloomin’ Marvelous Stamp set with Versamark then added More Mustard marker to the middle of the stamp and Tempting Turquoise to the flower petals on the stamp.  Then stamped the image.  Repeated this twice loading the stamp each time.   Heat embossed the flowers using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Load the leaf stamp from the Bloomin’ Marvelous set with Versamark and the Old Olive ink and then stamped the image.  Repeated 3 more times loading the stamp each time.   Heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Brayered Cajun Craze ink at an angle on the main image panel.

Wiped the embossed images off with a paper towel.

Stamped the Hummingbird using Old Olive ink.

Die cut the largest Framelits – Apothecary Accents die using Tempting Turquoise card stock.  Stamped the flower on the right side of the card stock using Tempting Turquoise ink.

Stamped the flower using Not Quite Navy ink and then sponged the Not Quite Navy ink on the edges.

Punched a small circle of Tempting Turquoise and then added it to the center of the Designer Builder Brad and added it to the main image panel.  Added a Silver brad to the left side.

Used the Fancy Fan embossing folder and the Big Shot Machine to emboss a Cajun Craze panel.

Added a Tempting Turquoise panel, Soft Suede panel and another Cajun Craze panel.  Also, added  Soft Suede ribbon and popped the main image panel up using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Added a Whisper White card base.

Here is the finished card measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″.

May your day be very special.

Until my next post. . . . . .
