Crooked Trunks – Stampin’ Up! Card

Hello there,

I was hoping to get some stamping in yesterday but, fate had a different plan for my day.  The night before, a drunk driver drove off the road into the drainage ditch of our next door neighbor’s property and coming out of the ditch the car went airborne and slammed into a power pole.  The drunk couple in the car got out okay and thank goodness they ran into a pole instead of another car.  Long story short, we didn’t have power until the pole was replaced etc.  It was a very dark and cold day.  I spent the day with so many layers of clothing on trying to stay warm there was no way I would be comfortable stamping, lol.  Good thing I’ve lost weight and had plenty of fat clothes to layer on.  That’s right I’m down 42 lbs now, woot woot!

Now that I have light and heat today it sure was nice getting back into my studio to stamp my cares away, so therapeutic.

If you know my style you know that I love to use stamps in unexpected ways.  Today I took a stamp from the beloved, Lovely as a Tree stamp set and put a twist on it.  I gave the trees these whimsical crooked trunks.

Hello there,

I have my Christmas tree up, decorated, and all of my Christmas shopping is complete.  I feel like I’m a little ahead of the game this year.  My dear friend Claire told me it’s not a good thing to have my shopping done so early because I will end up spending more because I will keep adding on gifts, I think she is probably right?  How are your holidays shaping up?

I’m still in the process of making my Christmas cards as you see.  Today’s card is all about the Christmas Tree.  I hope this project inspires you and you are able to get some good stamping time in this weekend.  🙂

Autumn Friend – Stampin’ Up! Card

Hello there,

As I was making today’s project I found myself re-inking every ink pad before I used it.  I don’t add a lot of re-inker to each pad just about 10 drops.  This is the perfect amount for my liking.  I really dislike an over inked pad, but I really don’t like a dry one.

I’m asked often, “how do you get your scenes to look so vibrant?”  Re-inking my ink pads often is the answer.  My number one ink rule is never purchase an ink pad without purchasing the re-inker to go with it.

Also, don’t be afraid to be quite heavy with sponging or brayering.  Keep in mind your projects will dry at least 2 shades lighter.  Nothing worse than your project looking faded out after it dries completely.  So, go forth and re-ink my friends.  🙂
