Today, I picked a new set from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog (Take It to Heart) and one from the Stampin’ Up! Cut a 3.75″ circle from Whisper White card stock using the Big Shot Machine and Clear Circle Die.

Brayered Daffodil Delight ink on 3/4 of the card stock.

Brayered Calypso Coral ink over the Daffodil Delight ink without covering it completely.

Brayered Pool Party ink at the top of the card stock.

Colored just the kids on the bike using a Basic Black marker and then huffed on the stamp and stamped it on the card stock.

Sponged Lucky Limeade ink at the bottom of the card stock up to the bike.

Stamped the Take it to Heart flower stamp using Basic Black ink.

Sponged Basic Black ink around the main image panel edge.

Cut a 5″ x 6.5″ piece of Pool Party card stock and sponged Basic Black ink around the edges.

Added two panel of Everyday Enchantment Stampin’ Up! Designer Series paper.   One 4.50″ x 6″ and one 4″ x 5.5″.

Using the Mat Pack, added Pierced holes around the edge of the center panel.

Drew a line from one pierced hole to the next using a Basic Black marker to create faux stitching.

Stamped the small heart using Basic Black ink 4 times on Whisper White card stock and cut them out.  Adhered them to the corners of the faux stitching.    Added Basic Black ribbon and two Everyday Enchantment brads.

A little note:  When I plan on using designer series paper (DSP) in a project, I pick the paper out first and then pull my scene colors out of the paper.  🙂  Makes for much easier matching.

May your day be filled fun and laughter.

Until my next post. . . . .  . . .

Tool Time – Glue

Hi There,

Today’s post is a little stamping/paper crafting tool time tip.

Adhesive is very important to us paper crafters, right?   Really, what would be do without it?   I cannot remember a project that I put together without it.

I’m asked frequently what kind of adhesive I use, well I have found my favorite adhesive to be the Tombo Mono Multi Liquid Glue that comes in the little green bottle, Stampin’ Up! item number 110755, $3.95.   I use to use the Snail Adhesive/tape runner for everything, but I had a problem with getting my paper layers straight when I would stick them together, probably operator error, lol.    But when I tried the Tombo Liquid Glue I was in heaven because it gives you a moment to shift your layers right where you want them by sliding them.  Also, you will not see any warping of your paper and your projects will not fall apart.    The glue bottle has a large (bottom) and small (top) applicator tip.   I always use the small one.

Now don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with other adhesives, this is just my preference.   I’m just saying. . . . . . . .. .

See below how little of the glue is needed.   All you need is the thinnest of lines of glue 1/4″ in from the edge and your project will be stuck together like glue, lol, ya know I had to say it, grin.   Also, this glue goes a long, long way and is very cost effective.

Now at my workshops I find the smartest stampers.  They always have great tips to share.  Here is one from my Dayton workshops recently:  Keep a small candle holder on your desk and turn your glue bottle upside down in the candle holder and the glue will remain at the tip right where you need it for the next application.  No shaking the bottle to get it to go to the tip when you are using it.  This saves a bit of time.   🙂  Note:  when you finish creating for the day you will want to put the cap back on the bottle.    This was one idea that when I heard it I had to say DUHHHH!  Why didn’t I think of that, lol.

Before closing for today here is a couple friendly reminders so you don’t miss out:

Started this project with a 3″ x 6″ piece of checked Designer Series paper.

Punched the bird and wing from a piece of Whisper White card stock.

Sponged Lucky Limeade ink on the bottom of the card stock.

Used the negative punched paper as a stencil to sponge Old Olive ink in to create the shadow for the bird.

Sponged River rock ink at the bottom of the bird and wing.  Also colored in the birds beak and eye using the River Rock marker.  Put a bit of River Rock marker at the bottom of the bird and wing.

Figured out where I wanted to the bird on the card stock (don’t adhere it yet).    Put a dot under the birds beak on the background so I know where I want the string for the balloon to go.

Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig and Basic Black ink stamped the balloon so the string would go right over the dot I put on the background paper in the last step.

Stamped the balloon on Regal Rose card stock and cut it out.

Sponged Melon Mambo ink at the bottom of the balloon to make it appear 3D.

Adhered the bird and balloon on the background.

Added a dot of Regal Rose marker to the balloon image where it ties.

Drew in the shadow for the balloon string using an Old Olive marker.

Punched the Modern Label punch 2 times out of Whisper White card stock.  Held the two punches together and cut one end off.

Added 2 Marina Mist Panels, 1 River Rock panel and the main image panel.

Assembled my card adding the label punches and 6 silver brads.

Here is my finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be extra special!

Until my next post. . . . .  . . .

Added torn post it notes to mask for the hill and path.

Sponged Cajun Craze in the hill.

Just Swinging – Tutorial #482

Hey There,

I’m knee deep in packing for my trip to LAS VEGAS BABY!    I leave Friday, I hope Las Vegas is ready for me. . . .   I’m super excited about this trip since Las Vegas is one of the places I haven’t made it to yet in the whirl wind traveling career I have.   Not to mention, I get to teach some awesome stampers how to brayer and create using some other technique tricks I have up my sleeve.

I needed a bit of a break from packing so I sat down and created this project for your enjoyment, please give it a try.  It features the sweet set Forever Young.  This stamp goes with brayering especially well.

Let’s get started. . . . .

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Forever Young

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Basic Black, Old Olive, Peach Parfait and Stampin’ Up Designer Series Paper “Paisley Petals”

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze

Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Sponges, Basic Black brads, Big shot Machine, 3.75″ circle Die, White Gel Pen, Brayer and Heart Punch

Want a free copy of the current Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog?  Just e-mail your address to mzindorf@aim.com and I will get one right out to you.  Get your copy of the 2011-2012 Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalog by sending $9.95 to me at P.O. box 116, West Alexandria, Ohio 45381 or via paypal to mzindorf@aim.com, shipping is free. Die cut a 3.75″ circle using the Big Shot Machine and Whisper White card stock.

brayered Daffodil Delight ink on one side of the card stock.

Brayered Pumpkin Pie ink on the other side of the card stock.   I don’t show it here, but I brayered a little Cajun Craze at the bottom of the Pumpkin Pie side.

Stamped the image using Basic Black ink.

Sponged Old Olive ink at the bottom of the card stock.  Make sure you image is dry before doing this step or you will risk smearing the black ink, not pretty.

Sponged Basic Black ink at the bottom of the card stock, not covering the Old Olive ink entirely.

Added White Gel Pen highlights to the tree and also added a bit of grasses.

Added a 5.25″ square Basic Black panel, 5″ square Design Series Paper Panel, 4 3/8″ square Peach Parfait panel, (2) 2″ x 4 1/8 Basic Black panels, 4 small Peach Parfait Punches, 2 Black and 2 Old Olive Large hearts.

Added 2 Basic Black brads.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.25″ square.

May your day be totally awesome!

Happy New Year!!!   I hope your holiday was one to remember.   Mine was spent at home with Russ safe and sound in our little home.   We watched the ball go down in New York from our sofa here in Ohio.    I know, party animals, right, lol.

As I started the 1st day of this year, my mind went to the next holiday I will need cards for, Valentine’s Day.   Creating a Valentine’s Day card also gave me an excuse to give a little sneak peek of a couple of stamps you will find in the upcoming Stampin’ Up Occasions Mini Catalog from the stamp set P.S. I Love You.   Wonderful set and perfect to make cards for the one’s you love.

The tutorial below features a background made using plastic wrap and ink.  With a little masking you can also learn how to make an object recede in your scene.  Check out the heart.  It is not a cut out.   Team that heart with a cupid image and some white clouds and you have an out of this world Valentine.

FYI, The Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini catalog will be in effect January 4 – April 30, 2012.   My current Stampin’ Up! customers will receive this mini catalog automatically from me.  If you would like an Occasions Mini Catalog, please e-mail your address to: mzindorf@aim.com and I will get one in the mail to you.   You won’t want to miss out on the exceptionally wonderful things in this mini!   If you have ordered from me in the past year and have not received your mini catalog, please e-mail me.

Before the tutorial I have an announcement to make!

Using the edge of a Peach Parfait ink pad, applied the ink in a swiping motion on a 3″ x 4.25″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

Using a crumpled up piece of plastic wrap, dabbed Cajun Craze ink on the card stock.

Applied Baja Breeze ink on the card stock using the crumpled plastic wrap.

Punched a heart out of the sticky part of a post it note and used it as a mask to create the heart.

Rubbed the Peach Parfait ink pad all over the card stock.

Sponged Cajun Craze ink around the edge of the heart mask.

Removed the heart mask.

Punched another heart from a post it note, this time from the center.  Put the negative piece on so the heart on the card stock shows through the post it note heart.  Sponge Tempting Turquoise around the edge of the heart shape.

Remove the mask and sponge Cherry Cobbler ink around the edge of the card stock.

Stamped the cupid stamp using Basic Black ink.

Added white gel pen to the cupids wings.

Sponged Whisper White ink on to create a cloud.

Added 2 Basic Black card stock panels and one Baja Breeze panel.   Stamped the sentiment using Whisper White ink.

Extended the cloud to the left side of the background panels.

Added Pumpkin Pie ribbon and Pumpkin Pie brads.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your new year be filled with the ones you love, good health and prosperity.

Tea Shoppe Sneak Peek – Tutorial #478

Hey There,

I hope you have had a wonderful holiday.   I sure did.  It was spent with family, celebrating and eating great food.  🙂  We did have something extra special to celebrate, my youngest son, Mitch proposed to his lovely, lovely girlfriend, Jamie and she said “YES”.

The happy couple. . . . . .  . .

I heard the news and cried tears of joy!     Jamie has already won all of us over and has been a part of this family from the day we met her.  I’m looking forward to them making it official.

Now, with the personal stuff set aside, I’m happy to bring you a tutorial today.   I took a little hiatus from stamping to have some spare time to prepare for the holidays and just have some general down time.   But now I’m back and was anxious to get back into my office to create.   I received my pre-order from Stampin’ Up! which included stamps from the up and coming Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog.   The catalog will be in effect January 4 – April 30, 2012.

As the title of this post suggests, I am giving you a sneak peek of a project using a new set from the new mini.   The set name is Tea Shoppe and it’s right up my ally, I’m a tea drinker.

The tutorial below gives you instructions on how to create a stenciled wall, striped table cloth and embossed teacup.  Check it out below and then put this stamp set on your list of stamps you must have in 2012.

Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Colored the openings in the cup design using a Wisteria Wonder and Olive markers.   Wiped the excess marker off of the embossed image using a paper towel.

Cut the cup out.

Laid my cup (don’t adhere yet ) on a 4.25″ x 5.75″ piece of Whisper White card stock and then added a few steam lines using my Versamark marker above the cup.  Heat embossed the steam lines using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Stamped the sentiment inside of the label stamp using Elegant Eggplant ink.

Punched the image out.
