Not Just For Fall II – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #606

Hey There,

I’m continuing on using the Stampin’ Up! set Gently Falling for today’s card tutorial.  I hope you are seeing just how valuable this set is all year long.  It’s so much fun using a stamp set in an unexpected way.

Leaves are on the trees, pretty much 9 out of 12 months of the year here in Ohio, but it seems that we really only appreciate their beauty in the Autumn months.  Why is that, especially since they give us such relief from the heat in the Summer by provided us much needed shade.  Okay, I confess, I’m a tree hugger, lol.

Check out the tutorial below.

!***************************************************************

I’ve added the featured card of the day to my sales page where you will also find some great deals on retired stamp sets and my brayer video.  CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT

***************************************************************

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Gently Falling (item # 123804) and DayDream Wheel (item #126939)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Old Olive, Pistachio Pudding,  and Island Indigo

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, Island Indigo, Always Artichoke and Old Olive

Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Sponges, Soft Suede Seam Binding, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Wood Embossing Folder, Regals Candy Dots, Versamark pad, Heat Gun, Clear Embossing Powder and Big Shot Machine

Load the Daydream wheel with Versamark and rolled across a 3″ x 6.25″ piece of Whisper White card stock using a ruler to keep things straight.

Heat emboss the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Sponged Marina Mist ink at on the left side of the card stock.

Sponged Crumb Cake ink on the right side of the card stock.

Added Soft Suede ink to the right center of the card stock and around the edges on the right side.

Sponged Island Indigo ink on the left center of the card stock and around the edges of the left side.

Stamped 3 leaves on Pistachio Pudding card stock using Always Artichoke ink.

Stamped the leaf filler stamp using Old Olive.

Cut the leaves out and sponged Soft Suede ink on the stem end of the leaves and Island Indigo on the top tips of the leaves.

Adhered the leaves to the main image panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals on the top of the leaves and glue on the bottom (stem end) of the leaves.  This adheres the leaves to the card stock and pops the top of them up but secures the stem.

Cut a 8.5″ x 3.75″ piece of Island Indigo card stock and embossed it using the Wood embossing folder and the Big Shot machine.  You need to run it through twice to get both ends of the card stock.  You can see the crease where the design meets but it looks like part of the design once the card is put together.

Added a 8″ x 9″ Old Olive card base and Soft Suede Seam binding.

Added a 3.25″ x 6.5″ Old Olive panel under the main image panel and the adhered them to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Also added Island Indigo Candy Dots.

Here is the completed card that measures 4″ x 9″.  This size card fits into a #10 size business envelope.  Anyone remember how all the funny cards years back use to be this size?  Maybe I’m showing my age here, lol.

Stampin’ Up’s Color Refresh! I love color and I know that you do too. Color is fundamental to who Stampin’ Up! is and what they offer. It’s important for us to stay up-to-date with color trends so I am thrilled to share Stampin’ Up’s updated line of colors, and hope you will be as excited as I am by the new possibilities!

Why now? In 2010 Stampin’ Up! did a big color renovation and shared their plans for smaller color refreshes every three to five years to keep their colors on trend. Well it has been three years and I am excited to announce that the upcoming 2013-2014 annual catalog will include 10 new colors (most of which are returning In Colors from previous years)! Stampin’ Up! is welcoming back some of your favorites, moving some colors around, and introducing one brand-new color, so take a look!

Beginning on April 4, 2013, all retiring/discontinued color products (i.e. ink, paper, ribbon, accessories, etc.) will be available only while supplies last. This means that some products will not be available through the retired list period. Stampin’ Up! did anticipate increased demand and based their forecasts for these retiring colors on historical sales information from previous color transitions. However, even with the most careful planning, the response to a transition of this nature can surprise everyone–including your own personal purchases. We encourage you to get your favorites and look forward to the exciting colors coming in the 2013-2014 annual catalog.

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Road to Happiness (item #126547), Wedding Words Wheel (item#125433)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Soft Sky, Sahara Sand and Basic Gray.  Also, Designer Series Paper from the Stampin’ Up! Patterns Stack – Neutrals

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Basic Gray, Soft Sky, Sahara Sand and Stazon Jet Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Sponge, sponge dauber, Silver brads, silver gel pen, Stampin’ write makers (Basic Black and Blush Blossom), Bone Folder, Post it note, Framelits (Ovals collection and Floral Frames), Heart Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Heat Gun

Stamped the car using Stazon On Jet Black ink on Whisper White card stock.

Added the Bride and Groom using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Stamped the tin cans using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Die cut the scene using the Ovals Collection framelits.

Die cut an a Sahara Sand oval using the next largest oval from the Oval Collection Framelit.

Masked the car with a post it note leaving just a bit of the wheels showing and sponged in Basic Gray ink.

Removed the mask and sponged in Soft Sky ink at the top of the card.

Colored the wheels and tin can using a Silver Stampin’ Dazzle marker.

Colored the skin with a Blush Blossom marker.

Put the post it note mask on again and added more Basic Gray ink using the sponge just under the car to create a shadow.

Colored in the wheels of the car to darken with a Basic Black marker.

Cut a 4.75″ x 6.25″ piece of Soft Sky card stock and used the Wedding Words wheel and Sahara sand ink 3 times across the card stock.

Distress the edges of the main image panel, Sahara Sand panel and the Soft Sky panel using Basic Gray ink.  I just scraped the edges of the card stock across the stamp pad.

Added a 5″ x 6.5″ Sahara Sand Panel, (2) 1.5″ x 4.25″ pieces of DSP,( 2) 1.75″ x 4.5″ pieces of Basic Gray card stock.

Punched 6 of each of these flowers using the Big Shot machine and the Flower Frames Framelits out of Whisper White card stock.

Punched 3 Flowers out of Sahara Sand card stock using the Boho Blossoms Punch.

Divided up the Whisper white flowers in half.  Wet one half of the flowers and crumpled them up.  Un crumbled them and heat them with the heat tool.  This makes the flowers very stiff.

Used the bone folder on the other half of the flowers to break the fibers of the card stock and put a curl in the petals.

Assembled the flowers alternating the crumbled ones with the ones that I used the bone folder on.  Added a Sahara Sand punch in the middle.  The layers were put together using the mini glue dots.

Added a Silver Brad to the center and then fluffed up the flowers.

Added my 3 flowers to the card and also added (2) Basic Gray heart punches.

Added a 6.5″ x 10″ Whisper White card base folded in half.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be filled with happiness.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Huge Hugs!

Fly Away – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #598

Hey There,

How about a little floral card today?   I combined the Stampin’ Up! stamp sets Papillion Potpourri and Everything Eleanor to bring you this Spring Card Tutorial.  Check it out below.

********************************************

I’ve added this card to my sales page where you will also find some great deals on retired stamp sets.  CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT********************************************

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Papillion Potpourri (item #123759) and Everything Eleanor (item #124164)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Marina Mist and Basic Black

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Stazon Jet Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Ovals Collection Framelits (item #129381), Bird punch, Flower Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Brads, Brayer, White Gel pen, 3/4″ circle punch, Markers (Baja Breeze, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie), Big Shot Machine

Using the Big Shot Machine and the Oval Collection Framelits, cut 3rd to the largest and 2nd to the largest Ovals out of Whisper White and Basic Black card stock.

Punched a 3/4″ circle punch from the sticky part of a post it note and used it as a mask for the sun.

Brayered Daffodil Delight ink and then Pumpkin Pie ink at an angle.

Removed the sun mask and sponged in Daffodil Delight ink in the sun.

Stamped the flourish from the Everything Eleanor set using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Stamped the Butterflies on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Colored the butterflies in with a Baja Breeze marker.  Added Marina Mist marker on the inside of the wings and then colored the body in using a Basic Black marker.

Stamped the flower from the Everything Eleanor set on Whisper White card stock using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Colored the flower in using a Daffodil Delight marker.

Added Pumpkin Pie marker.

Added Cajun Craze marker on the inside of the flower.

Cut out the butterflies and large flower.

Punched a small flower out of Cajun Craze card stock and sniped in between the petals of the flower using paper snips.  Added a brad to the center and then added it to the center of the larger flower.  (note:  I did this as an after thought, but it would be easier to do this at this point.

Added White Gel pen to the florish, flower and Butterflies.

Cut a 3.75″ x 5″ piece of Marina Mist card stock.   Inked up one side of the Argyle Embossing Folder with Marina Mist ink and then ran the card stock through the Big Shot Machine using the Emboss Folder.  This really makes the embossing stand out.  (note:  you want to ink up the side of the embossing folder that the design is indented).

Added 2 Basic Black Panels and a Marina Mist panel.  Very Vanilla Seam Binding and then pop up the oval Basic Black panel with Stampin Dimensionals.  Also popped up the  butterflies and flower.

Cut 2 pieces of Very Vanilla Ribbon and slide them under the adhered ribbon.  Tied them in a bow and then separted the loops so the bow is fuller.

Punched 2 of the leaves from the bird punch out of Basic Black card stock.  Cut some of the stem off of them and added them under the flower.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be delightful!

Until my next post. . . . . .

Hugs,

Mouthwatering – Stampin’ Up! Tutorial #596

Hey There,

Do you think I’m wishing for the warm days of Summer or what?  It’s been a long Winter.  So sorry to all of you that are still getting the white stuff and cold temps.  Maybe this card will help warm you up.

I put this card together using the super cute Stampin’ Up! Mouthwatering set.  It has images of the things I like to eat in the Summer.

I used the emboss resist technique and really made good use of my Stampin’ Up! Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  Check out the tutorial below.

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up!  Mouthwatering (item #125677)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Basic Black, Old Olive and Soft Suede

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Soft Suede and Pacific Point

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponges, Ruler, Rose Red Seam Binding, Markers (Rose Red, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Basic Black and Soft Suede), Versamarker, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Big Shot, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Paper Towel and Post it Notes

Stamped the watermelon image on a 5.25″ x 3″ piece of Whisper White card stock by coloring the stamp with Old Olive marker and Rose Red Marker, huffing my breath on the stamp to moisten and then stamped the image.  Repeated to stamp the second watermelon.

Added a bit of Always Artichoke marker at the outside edge of the watermelon and colored the seeds Basic Black.

Colored over both images using a Veramarker (staying inside of the image) and then heat embossed them using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.   Repeat if there are dimples in your embossing.

Masked the bottom of the card stock using post it notes and sponged Pacific Point ink at the top of the card stock.

Masked the top of the card stock, leaving a hint of the blue showing and sponged Soft Suede ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Using a ruler, put in 3 lines in the Soft Suede area using a Soft Suede marker.  Sponged Soft Suede ink in for the shadow.

Gently wiped off my embossed images and quickly heated them up again to bring back the shine.

Ran the main image panel and Old Olive panel and a Soft Suede panel through the Big Shot using the Square Lattic embossing folder.

Added two Basic Black panels, a Whisper White card base and Rose Red Seam Binding.   Popped the main image panel up using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be filled with the warmth of Spring.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Rainy Day – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #595

Hi There,

I think I was channeling my inner Mary Engelbreit today with the polka dots and colors.  Rain can be a bit depressing but when you use bright colors I think that changes things.

I created a puddle for my image to be standing in and used Stampin’ Up! Crystal Effects to make it look real.  Check out the complete tutorial below or better yet stamp along with me.

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Lean on Me (item # 122285)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Real Red, So Saffron and More Mustard

Ink: Stampin’ Up! More Mustard, Real Cherry Cobbler, Sahara Sand and StazOn Jet Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponges, Big Shot Machine, Adoring Accent Edgelit, Stampin’ Write Markers (Lucky Limeade, More Mustard, So Saffron, Blush Blossom, Real Red, Bashful Blue & Crumb Cake), Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Labels Collection Framelits, Top Note Die

Cut one Label from the Label Collection (2nd to the smallest size) out of Whisper White card stock and the next size up out of So Saffron card stock.

Stamped the image from the Stampin’ Up! set Lean on Me using StazOn Jet Black ink.

Colored the coat and boots using So Saffron marker, umbrella and pants using a Real Red Marker, Added Crumb Cake marker to the underside of the umbrella.

Colored the hair with More Mustard marker and skin with Blush Blossom marker.

Added more Blush Blossom marker to the cheeks (twice).

Added More Mustard marker to the coat, boots and hair.

Colored the rain drops and added a puddle using the Bashful Blue marker.

Added Crystal Effects to the puddle to give it some shine and bring it to life.

Colored in the ground using a Luck Limeade marker.

Sponged in a bit of Sahara Sand ink in the sky.

Sponged More Mustard around the two labels.

Die cut a Top Note out of Real Red polka dot card stock.

Cut a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of So Saffron card stock and embossed it using the Polka Dot Embossing Folder and Big Shot Machine.

Cut an accent piece out of More Mustard card stock using the Adorning Accents Edgelit.

Added a Whisper White card stock base, 5.5″ x 4.25″ panel of Real Red,  Sponged More Mustard around the So Saffron Embossed panel and sponged Cherry Cobbler ink around the edges of the Top note.   Added the More Mustard accent piece and pierced holes in each scallop.

Here is the finished project measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″.

Over the weekend I was busy, busy straightening a few of my gardens up.   I tackled the strawberry bed and thinned out my strawberry plants so they will be more productive.

Filled my strawberry jar with some of the excess plants and shared the rest with neighbors.

Russ and I also cleaned out our small barn.  I’m moving the chickens to bigger quarters.  More news on that later.   We also did the task of bringing home a truck load of mulch and shoveled it out of the truck into a pile, then cleaned up the yard and deck furniture.   I’m tired and it’s only Monday, lol.

I couple of pics from this morning in the yard.

Here birdy, birdy. . . . .

Until my next post. . . . . .

Hugs,

And also announced today, free shipping is going on April 6-8, 2013, which would be a great time for you to get your favorites before they are gone! (Free shipping is for North America only.)

Garden Boots – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #591

Hey there,

Are you as ready for Spring as I am?  My heavens, I’m so ready to get out in my garden.   I have a ton of seedlings growing in the house and I think they would much rather be outside with the sun on them also.

Last year, we hardly had a Winter and I was picking strawberries in March.  This year we have 6 inches of snow on the ground.  I’m hoping we have a mild Spring and Summer.   None of that drought stuff.  Can I get an Amen!

Anyhow, my frame of mind is what brought this card design to light.  Today’s tutorial uses the fun Bootiful Occasions Stampin’ Up! rubber stamp set.  This set contains a boot for every season so it is quite versatile.  I’ve also put in a fun wood wall behind the boots.  Check out my tutorial for this card below.

********************************************

I’ve added this card to my sales page where you will also find some great deals on retired stamp sets.  CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up!  Bootiful Occasions (item #126597)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive,Soft Suede and Stazon Jet Black ink.

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Soft Suede, Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip and Old Olive

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponges, Chocolate Chip Scallop Dots Ribbon, Big Shot Machine, Bigz Clear Large Scallop Square Die, Post it note, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Tempting Turquoise and Not Quite Navy markers

Stamped the boots on Whisper White Card stock using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Colored the boots in with Tempting Turquoise marker.  Let is dry a moment and then added more Tempting Turquoise marker at the sides of the boots and along the bottom above the heel.

Added Not Quite Navy marker along the back of the boots.

Cut the images out.

Smeared a Soft Suede ink pad across a 3″ square piece of Whisper White card stock.

Sponged Old Olive ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Using a post it note as a mask, sponged lines across the card stock using Chocolate Chip ink to create the wood planks.

Sponged a little bit of Always Artichoke ink at the bottom left of the card stock.

Adhered the right boot using glue and popped the left boot up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Die cut a large scalloped square out of Whisper White card stock using the Big Shot machine.

Added Whisper White, Chocolate Chip and Soft Suede panels and Chocolate Chip Scalloped Ribbon.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.5″ square.
