Searching for a Mirror Image Stamp

I used my Rubber Stampede Mirror Image Stamp, Item 247F in a tutorial and received e-mail/comments from a few of you looking for this stamp.  I got mine at Micheael’s 5 years ago, I have not seen one there for sometime.  A few of you have also done Internet searches and so have I looking for this stamp without any success.  I did find that two of them are listed on Ebay to end 3 and 4 days from now.  Maybe that is an option to getting this stamp.  Sorry I had no idea when I used it in my project it would be so hard to find.  I do love using mine and will probably use it in future tutorials, please forgive me!

If you have no idea what I am talking about here is a picture of the stamp.

As you can see mine is stained from use, but this has not effect on future images.

You can stamp on the mirror image stamp and then stamp the mirror image stamp on your paper and it gives, that’s right, a mirror image.

If anyone knows of a place that these can be purchased new, please share that information with us by commenting on this post.

I bought my mirror image stamp locally from some one who makes rubber stamps. No doubt there will be any number of people in the USA that do the same. It didn’t cost very much. It also means that you can have a number of different sizes if you want. You can also use a shadow stamp.

  3. I saw this exact same stamp very recently, at Micheal’s I believe. So it is still out there!

I picked it up and then realized that I still have a couple of SU sets that are solid basic shapes that I could use so I put the stamp back down and backed away real quick! ;D

I saw that stamp at Michael’s here in Canada just recently too! I don’t use it personally, I use wax paper – works like a CHARM!!! And cheap!!! LOL

Okay I know I’ve looked at your gallery a lot because I see the images on your mirror stamp ( sheep, giraffe, fox), and I can picture the cards you made using the stamp:) The beautiful card you made with the fox is one of my favorites 🙂

I’m thinking I could use a a piece of scrap rubber. Might not work for my larger stamps though. Hmm, that got me thinking- I wonder if a rubber gasket sheet or fun foam would work?

I just saw where someone made a mirror image with their brayer. Instead of using the mirror image stamp, they rolled their rubber brayer over the inked stamp, then rolled onto the paper. It looked great! Granted, this would only work for smaller images, but is something many of us already have and could work in a pinch!

  8. I was about to say the same as Danelle – a brayer works and it works with a surprisingly large image! I made a small mark on my brayer with a paint marker so I can tell where to start off when I transfer the image from the brayer onto paper.

The other thing to look for is a large ‘shadow’ stamp. Hero Arts do them or there are unmounted ones in this auction

  9. Saw one at Michael’s last week. I don’t have it and just use acetate for mirror images or if it is a small image I use a different stamp with a large solid image.

I ordered my mirror-image stamp from CreateForLess a couple of months ago, but more recently I’ve seen them in several Michael’s stores in northern Michigan, so apparently Michael’s is still carrying them in certain locations! ~Lynn~

    Hi there everyone,
first of all I would just like to say thank you for sharing your lovely work and tutorials, I love your site. I am from australia and note that you are looking for shadow stamps….Judikins have a rnge of shadow stamps that are of various shapes circles, ovals, rectangles and so on and they are quite large. Also Stamp It an Australian Manufacturer of craft stamps will make stamps to order and their prices range from $AU6.50 for a small stamp – 26.50 which is close to a large background stampinup stamp. this Company is local to me and if you like I can make more specific enquiries on your behalf and help you with obtaining it if you like. all I would need to know from you is what shape shadow you want and its area….Circle 5cm in diametre or Rectangele 10 x 6cm etc.

i hope that this all helps and again thank you for sharing
    Regards, Louise

Hi everyone – I just bought one of these mirror image stamps at Michaels – it was right on the shelf there…! I had actually seen it before and didn’t know what it was for – and never picked it up to read what it said on it!! I was so glad when I went there and found it!

ok… I just bought one today, but it does not transfer the entire image. What am I doing wrong. I used both a pigment ink and a dye ink but neither seemed to work.

    HELP!

  14. Gabriela, try taking a fine piece of sand paper and lightly sand the rubber on your stamp. Some stamps have a finish on them that makes them resist ink in area.
    Hope this helps!

I was having the same problem with not being able to find one…I used my Stampin’ Up “Shape of Things” (the rectangle) and that worked pretty good. I know it’s an oldie…but still a goodie and now it even has more purpose! Yay!
