I need a little help. . . . . .

This is a sad little post, but I thought what the heck, you readers are my cyber friends so here it goes. . . . . .

I am currently searching for a full time job for myself.  Anyone have any leads on job positions in the Dayton, Ohio to Richmond, Indiana area?  I can do anything from stock shelfs to bookkeeping, receptionist, secretary etc.  I am a very dedicated and hard worker.  Please let me know if I can provide you with one of my resumes.  Any leads at all are appreciated.

Huge Hugs to all of you!

Until my next post. . . . . .

Michelle

    Michelle,
I am in the Boston area so I cannot give you any leads but Saint Joseph is the Patron Saint of workers. When I lost my job suddenly I prayed to St. Joseph and was sucessful in my search. You have a big family out here in cyberland and we can all pray for you to find work. I am confident that God will lead you in the right direction.
Please know that you are not alone.

    Michelle,
I too have found myself in your position at this time. I’m willing to do anything I can as well to help out my household.I even applied for an overnight position at Target. You can go online and see if they have any openings in your area. Khol’s does the same. Unfortunately, I am on the other side of the country so my leads wouldn’t help you any. Have you tried maybe a temp agency. It is kind of nice because you can take jobs for a short time frame and tell them no if you don’t want that one.
    Good luck to you!

  3. I know how this is! My hubby and I are both out of jobs! I am in nursing school so doing a little better than him (he works in architecture and engineering). I am in Lexington, KY, well Georgetown. If you like I can keep my eyes peeled for something in my area (I had a relative in Xenia who was 1hr.45mins away) so maybe it isn’t that far temporarily till the economy picks up? Let me know. I surely don’t mind looking in my newspaper, listening and looking on careerbuilder.
    Best of Luck!

  6. Just popping in to say you just took the hardest step! Yeah! … I listen to the Oprah XM channel, and some of the advice given, for job searching, was to vocalize your needs.. Let people know.. Put it out there… And, by doing this, things happen!

I wrote down my ‘needs’ as part of my New Years Resolutions… On Jan. 2nd, I happened to vocalize my need to a friend, and poof! I start my new adventure tomorrow!

So with that… write it down, verbalize it, and be sure to let us know what happens!

  7. Oh, girlie, so many of us are in that position right now. Things are ridiculously crazy! I am looking for something, too, after almost 12 years of being out of an industry that changes every six months! Do NOT give up! You are way too kind and good and generous and smart and articulate. You WILL find something and something good that makes you happy.

Try Craigslist, Indeed.com and post your resume on Monster. I am pretty good at rehabbing resumes so if you would like a hand let me know via PM.

Good luck and keep us posted! Bren

  8. With your creative talent, maybe if you have a YMCA in your town you could see if they have any teaching positions available that you would enjoy? I have several friends who work there and the jobs they do vary from part-time to full-time. It’s just a thought. You would have to like kids though – those are the only classes I’m aware of here. You never know though – maybe there they have adult classes or at some other organization in your town they would hire you to do that kind of work? Best wishes to you, and you will be in my prayers.

Hang in there. Saint Joseph is indeed the one to ask for intercessory prayers for employment. His prayers helped us greatly in our recent move across states. I’ll join my prayers with all the other readers.

It breaks my heart that you and so many others are in need of a job wow, it’s unreal. I pray that you Michelle and our other cyber buddies needs are met quickly. Since you mentioned Oprah, I will share one of my favorite sayings that I heard her say. She said,”God dreams bigger dreams for us than we can dream.” That is so true, God has the perfect job for all of you, His desires and dreams for us are big. Hang in there, it will get better.

Hi Michelle, I think you were very brave posting as you did and I really hope something comes up for you soon. Nobody on here doubts your dedication. I am in France, so can’t help in any practical way but I am sure something will come up. You have a lot of friends on here. I really hope you get offered some teaching as it is obviously your forte. Could you offer some workshops in your area as you have so many skills to offer? I am sure they would be very popular. I used to do this in the UK and all you need are your stamping supplies and a teaching space, something like a community hall is ideal and usually very cheap to hire. Not a full time solution of course, but could keep the wolf from the door for a bit. Either way, very best of luck in whatever you do and keep us posted.

Obviously I can’t help in a practical way but my thoughts, wishes and prayers are with you. You deserve anything that makes you happy in return for the pleasure you give to others.

Prayers to you Michelle. It’s so hard to find a job these days, I’ve been looking for a while too.

You have such a unique talent though, would you be interested in doing more stamp classes on the road? I really think you could almost make that a steady source of income.

    Best of luck.

Oh Girl, I hate this more than I can say. The one time you really need and ask for help, I can’t do much. Consider your talent as a resource! There is bound to be a way you can capitalize on your skill as a wonderful artist. The art you have created on your blog alone is proof of your abilities. Check out sign design opportunities. Some businesses require window designers, etc. If you have to look for a job anyway, why not one in a field that you REALLY enjoy??? Or, from past photos, you enjoy gardening and are good at it, try a nursery. Or you could do a bed and breakfast and include workshops! What an idea!!! Getting over the initial shock of needing a job is tuff but there is a silver lining. Keep your chin up Michelle, I know something will work out for you. God is watching over you, turn to him for answers and guidance.

Hey, Michelle. Sending good thoughts of hope your way. Have you considered looking for work that will take advantage of your incredible artistic talent? What about graphic design? I’ve had many friends with art degrees who are very talented as you are who have worked in the graphic arts departments at various newspapers, but most industry uses graphic artists in some capacity. Good luck, Michelle–I’m really pulling for you.

I am in Colorado, but just wanted to wish you well in your job search. I was thinking Marco Paper in Dayton would be FORTUNATE to have you!

Everyone in the Dayton area that shops at Marco’s should mention Michelle’s name when you go into their store, when you sign up for classes, etc.

    GOOD LUCK!
