dsc02643.JPG

On a 4.5″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White card stock, pounced Bashful Blue ink with a sponge all over the card stock.

dsc02610.JPG

Stamped the bird image from the Stampin’ Up! set “Friends 24-7” by loading with Going Gray ink and then tapping my Basic Black ink pad on the bottom half of the stamp before stamping it.

dsc02611.JPG

I used my heat gun to dry the ink on the card stock and then used my Embossing buddy on the card stock also.  This was to make sure that the embossing powder in the next steps will not stick to the bird image or the blue ink that was sponged on.

dsc02615.JPG

Stamped the Flower stamp from the Stampin’ Up! set “Baroque Motifs” with Versamark only and then heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

dsc02616.JPG

dsc02617.JPG

Stamped the Flourish from the “Baroque Motifs” using Versamark only.  Heat embossed the flourish using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

dsc02618.JPG

dsc02619.JPG

Pounced on Tempting Turquoise ink using a sponge.

dsc02620.JPG

Pounced on Brilliant Blue ink using a sponge.

dsc02621.JPG

Pounced on Night of Navy ink with a sponge.

dsc02622.JPG

Pounced on Basic Black ink using a sponge.

dsc02623.JPG

Wiped the ink off of the embossed images using cotton towel.

dsc02624.JPG

Stamped the Flourish from the “Friends 24-7” set using Basic Black ink on the bottom of the card stock a few times.

dsc02625.JPG

Stamped a couple of the little flowers from the set “Baroque Motifs” using Brilliant Blue ink.

dsc02626.JPG

Added Sahara Sand marker to the bird.

dsc02628.JPG

Added a little Bashful Blue marker to the bird.

dsc02629.JPG

Added a little Not Quite Navy to the birds wing and underside.  This left a few hard lines, so to tone things down, went over the bird image again with the Sahara Sand marker.

dsc02630.JPG

Added Basic Black marker to the wing, head and tail.  Also added some sketchy lines of White Gel Pen to the birds head, chest and a tiny bit to the back.

dsc02632.JPG

Punched a small Tempting Turquoise flower for the center of my embossed flower.  Added a Night of Navy brad to the center.

dsc02633.JPG

Traced the underside of the flourish with a Not Quite Navy marker to add a shadow to it.  Wiped the marker off of the embossed image, where went over it.

dsc02634.JPG

Using the Spiral punch, punched the edge of a 5″ x 1.5″ piece of Brilliant Blue.

dsc02635.JPG

Stamped the flourish image with Basic Black ink three times across the top of the card stock.  Stamped a few of the same image really lightly further down the card stock.

dsc02636.JPG

Assembled the card using a 5″ x 6.5″ piece of Sahara Sand as the base of my card front.  Added a Bashful Blue ribbon to the front.

dsc02637.JPG

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

dsc02641.JPG

I hope you try layering and building up ink to get some depth in your projects.

May your day be one filled with peace and serentity.

Until my next post.  . . .  . . . . . . . . ..

Hugs,

Michelle

Tool Time – Organizing and Keeping Sponges for Each Ink Color

dsc02609.JPG

Today I have a little Tool Time segment for you on sponge organization.  I gave up along time ago trying to keep a sponge for each color of ink I have, until I seen this cute and quick idea.  I am not sure who to give credit to since I have heard this idea from a few different sources.  But it is such a good idea I thought I would try it and share it with you.

Supplies:

Stampin’ Up! Sponges, Item #101610 – cut into wedges

Stampin’ Up! Round Tab Punch, Item #108340

A scrap of each color of card stock that matches your ink colors.  If you don’t have colored card stock to match your ink colors, smear ink on white card stock.

Stapler

Stampin’ Up has card stock that matches all of their ink colors, so using the Stampin’ Up! tab punch, punched one tab out of each color card stock that I have in ink.  Pardon me, but I have them all, lol.  By the way, so should you.  🙂  I know I am an enabler, I hear that often.

dsc02607.JPG

Next fold the tab over a wedge of sponge and staple it.  The colored tab not only lets you quickly identify the ink color that the sponge is designated for, but also gives you something to hold onto when sponging.

dsc02608.JPG

I have this plastic container that has dividers in it.  I found it to be perfect to store my sponges.

dsc02609.JPG

This little project only took me about 30 minutes to throw together and will hopefully save me a bit of time and money.

I hope you enjoyed this little Tool Time segment.  Let me hear from you  in the comments section if you have great craft organization tips to share.

May your day be filled with lots of belly laughs.  🙂

Until my next post.  . . .  . . . . . . . . ..

Hugs,

Michelle

Blog Candy Winner

I arrived at home in Ohio last night from Phoenix, AZ and was greeted by a bit of snowfall.  You got to love it!  🙂  I am still amazed that I can hop on a plane and travel across the country in a matter of hours.

One plane ride on this trip was a bit scary though.  When we were suppose to be landing in Phoenix, I noticed we were circling the airport and had been for about 15 minutes.  Our cheerful sounding pilot got on the PA to announce that we would be circling the airport for a bit more, since they needed to clear the runways for our landing.  Apparently, the flaps on the plane would not go down so we would need to land fast and hard and need to use every bit of the runway.  The pilot tried to reassure us by telling us emergency vehicles would be waiting on us when we landed.  Some how that bit of info did not make me feel any better, lol.

Thank goodness we had a well trained pilot.  He landed the plane and received  cheers from all of us on board.  🙂    Needless to say, I am happy to be home safe and sound so I can announce the winner of the Stampin’ Up! set Eggcoutrements.

Direct to Paper Field – Tutorial #297

dsc02510.JPG

I’m in the mood to smear some ink around today so I put together this scene.  The one thing to think about when doing direct to paper scenes is not to get hung up on small details.  The main thing is to just suggest things in your scene.  For instances the smeared in spot of Tempting Turquoise ink, your mind fills in that it is a pond in the distance.

Let’s get start.. . . .  . . . . . .

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Inspired by Nature
Paper: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise and Basic Black
Ink: Stampin’ Up! More Mustard, So Saffron, Bordering Blue, Pale Plum, Brocade Blue, Basic Black, Always Artichoke, Tempting Turquoise and Old Olive
Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Gold Brads, White Gel Pen, White Water Color Wonder Crayon

Don’t forget to request your copy of the new Stampin’ Up Occasions mini catalog and Sale-a-bration mini.   Just e-mail me your address and I will be glad to send you a set for free.  If you are a customer of mine your copy will come to you automatically.  🙂

dsc02515.JPG

Up until the rubber stamping at the end of this project, the complete scene is done with the direct to paper technique.  The Direct to Paper Technique is using the stamp pad and smearing the ink onto the card stock.

On a 4.5″ square piece of Whisper White card stock, smear Pale Plum at the top, stroking from the left side.

dsc02497.JPG

Smear Bordering Blue ink on, stroking first from the right side and just a bit from the left side.  I used the corner and edge of the ink pad here.  Try it on your scrap paper before using it on your card stock.  🙂

dsc02498.JPG

Smear in a bit of Tempting Turquoise ink using the edge of the ink pad and stroking from the right side.

dsc02499.JPG

Smeared on So Saffron ink to fill in the bottom of the card stock.  Be careful not to mix the So Saffron and Tempting Turquoise.  Remember yellow and Blue make green.  🙂

dsc02500.JPG

Smear More Mustard ink in an upward motion from the bottom of the card stock.

dsc02501.JPG

Smear a bit of Old Olive ink, stroking from the bottom of the card stock.

dsc02502.JPG

Added a bit of Always Artichoke ink at the very bottom right corner.

dsc02503.JPG

Added a bit of Brocade Blue to the sky, not covering all of the Bordering Blue ink.

dsc02504.JPG

Stamped the grasses stamp from the Stampin’ Up! set Inspired by Nature at the bottom of the card stock using Always Artichoke ink.

dsc02505.JPG

Stamped the grasses again, only using Basic Black ink at the very bottom of the card stock.

dsc02506.JPG

Added some White Watercolor crayon the the middle of the sky to indicate a white cloud.

dsc02507.JPG

Added White highlights to the grasses left side with a White Gel Pen.

dsc02508.JPG

Assembled the card adding Tempting Turquoise and Basic Black panels.   Also added gold brads to the main image panel corners.

dsc02509.JPG

Here is the finished card measuring 5.5″ square.

dsc02510.JPG

I hope you give this technique a try.  It is very freeing.  Just remember not to get hung up on the details.  🙂

May your day be out of this world wonderful.

Until my next post.  . . .  . . . . . . . . ..

Hugs,

Michelle

dsc02495.JPG

Stamped the house reflections in a line across a 3″ x 7″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  To stamp the reflections, stamped the house on my Stamp-a-ma jig plastic using Going Gray ink and then turned the plastic over on my card stock and rubbed the back of the plastic to put the image on the card stock.  Repeated this until I had all of the house stamped across the card stock.

dsc02464.JPG

dsc02465.JPG

Stamped the house roofs reflection in the same way as the house, using going gray and the stamp-a-ma-jig plastic.

dsc02466.JPG

Brayered Not Quite Navy ink at the bottom and top of the card stock.

dsc02467.JPG

dsc02468.JPG

Brayered Night of Navy ink at the top and bottom of the card stock, not covering the Not Quite Navy completely.

dsc02469.JPG

dsc02470.JPG

Added a 1 3/4″ mask punched out of the sticky part of a post it note.  Brayered Night of Navy again at the top of the card stock to get the moon to show up.

dsc02471.JPG

dsc02472.JPG

Removed the moon mask and stamp the houses across the card stock using Basic Black ink, matching them up the reflection images using a stamp-a-ma-jig for placement.

dsc02473.JPG

dsc02474.JPG

Stamped the roofs in Basic Black ink using a Stamp-a-ma-jig for placement.

dsc02475.JPG

Colored in the windows of the houses with an Apricot Appeal marker.

dsc02476.JPG

Added a little bit of watery Apricot Appeal ink with an Aqua Brush to the window in the reflection images.

dsc02477.JPG

dsc02478.JPG

Colored one of the house with a Blush Blossom marker and the reflection for that house with watery Blush Blossom ink using an Aqua Painter.

dsc02479.JPG

Colored one of the houses with a Bashful Blue Marker and the reflection of the house with watery Bashful Blue ink using an Aqua Painter.

dsc02480.JPG

Masked the houses with a post it note and Sponged Not Quite Navy at the post it note edge.

dsc02481.JPG

dsc02482.JPG

Traced along the edge of the post it note with a Basic Black marker.

dsc02483.JPG

Removed the post it note mask and added dashes in the water with a White Gel Pen.

dsc02484.JPG

Assembled the card adding Basic Black and Blush Blossom panels.  Added a Sahara Sand line in the top and bottom right hand corners of the Large Blush Blossom Panel to make this look like a window frame.

dsc02485.JPG

Added a punched Whisper White Star to the sky and here is the finished card measuring 4″ x 9″.  This will fit in a #10 size envelope.

dsc02489.JPG

May your day be filled with fun and laughter.

Until my next post.  . . .  . . . . . . . . ..

Snowboarding II – Tutorial #295

dsc02458.JPG

Put away Christmas Decorations, Check.  Re-pot house plants, Check.   Replace 3 throw rugs the dogs tore up in your absence, Check.   Give the dogs a stern lecture about the new throw rugs as they sit smiling at you, Check!   Well that is a bit how my day has went.  Thank goodness I have my stamp room to retreat to.

Ready for today’s tutorial, I sure am, LOL.

You know how your project turns out when you get stray embossing powder on it and heat it that way, yuck.  Well this project uses embossing powder in that manner, but on purpose.  See the snow coming off of this snowboarders board.  🙂  Hang out a few moments and check it out.

Let’s get started. . . . . . .

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Extreme Snowboarding
Paper: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Basic Black, Not Quite Navy and Stampin’ Up Designer Paper
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Night of Navy, Not Quite Navy, Bordering Blue, Bashful Blue
Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponges, Brayer, Stamp-a-ma-jig, clear embossing powder, heat gun, Versamark Pad, White Gel Pen, Not Quite Navy brads, Photo Corner Punch

Don’t forget to request your copy of the new Stampin’ Up Occasions mini catalog and Sale-a-bration mini.   Just e-mail me your address and I will be glad to send you a set for free.  If you are a customer of mine your copy will come to you automatically.  🙂

dsc02463.JPG

Sponged a bit of Versamark on a 3.5″ x 5″ Piece of Whisper White card stock.  Put clear embossing powder on the card stock.  Held the card stock up to a lamp and brushed a bit of the embossing powder off.  I wanted it to look scattered a bit, not bit bloaches.  Heated the embossing powder with a heat gun.    I know you cannot see where I put the Versamark or the Clear embossing powder.  You will be able to see it appear in the next photo.

dsc02445.JPG

Brayered Bashful Blue ink at the bottom of the card stock and brayered almost to the top of the cardstock.

dsc02446.JPG

Ripped some mountain shapes into a post it note and used it as a mask to create my mountains.

dsc02447.JPG

Sponed Bordering Blue ink in the unmasked area.

dsc02448.JPG

Moved the post it note mask and Sponge Not Quite Navy ink to create the second line of mountains.

dsc02449.JPG

Moved the post it note mask a third time and sponged Night of navy ink for the third line of mountains.

dsc02450.JPG

Swiped the ink from the heat embossing with an old cotton towel.

dsc02451.JPG

Used a Stamp-a-ma-jig for placement and stamped the Extreme Snowboard stamp in Basic Black ink.

dsc02452.JPG

dsc02453.JPG

Used the post it note mask for a fourth time and added a hill by sponging Basic Black ink on the right lower corner.

dsc02454.JPG

Added White Gel Pen to a couple of the mountain peaks.

dsc02455.JPG

Ripped the top off of the main image panel.  Assembled card front and added Basic Black Photo Corner Punches and Not Quite Navy Brads.

dsc02456.JPG

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

dsc02458.JPG

May you have a stress free day!

Until my next post.  . . .  . . . . . . . . ..

Hugs,

Michelle
