Where on earth?

imgp0374-2.jpg

I’m on the road this weekend.  Traveled from Ohio to Missouri via van.  My favorite way to travel.  Can you guess where I stopped? lol.  Hint, think 1800’s, Famous American, Politics, Log Cabin.  🙂  This is just a few of the photos taken.   I had the place all to myself since it was 28 degrees.  But the sun was shining, the sky was blue and the buildings really took me back to a simpler time.  No luxury here, lol.

    Michelle,
Looks like New Salem to me. We visited there a few years ago, in July. It wasn’t much more crowded then. We had lots of fun, Kyle loved running around everywhere.

  2. New Salem IL. It is much nicer in the summer with the guides dressed in period clothing and the raised gardens in full bloom. I will see you in St Louis on Sat. I am sitting in on both classes. After that I head back to Quincy to return the next day for gymnastics compitition with the Grandaughter. Can’t wait until class time.

Michelle, you are an inspiration. I need to look for joy in all that is around me the way you do. It is so easy to let life get in the way.

You’re making me homesick! I grew up close enough that we went all the time. When the warmer weather sets in I’ll have to pack up the kids and head south for a little history.

Oooh, I’ve been there! Abraham Lincoln’s home. Looks different with snow though. I was there in May a few years ago. Warm during the day, chilly at night. Love your pictures!

I started scrolling through the photos without reading the first paragraph closely, and when I saw the chickens, I thought, “I have a picture of those chickens!” I visited there several years ago when we stayed at a B & B nearby to scrapbook all weekend.

Thanks for sharing your photos, it’s monsoonal downpours here in Darwin (hot and sticky) – it’s lovely seeing photos of winter in USA (not sure if I could cope with the cold though!!)

  8. Michelle asked “How do you shoot such beautiful pictures! Do you set up on a tripod and also what do you shoot with. ”

Michelle, I use a Pentax K-X, SLR Digital Camera. The photos were taken using a 28-80 lens. 🙂 I hand held the camera for these shots.

Michelle, I absolutely love the pictures you posted. Even if you have never been to Lincoln’s home, something about the pictures tells you that’s where they were taken. By the way, what is the “blob” sitting in a pile of straw/hay?

I’d say you were in the “Land of Lincoln”. Beautiful pictures… We have so many absolutely beautiful places to visit in the Good Ol’ U.S. of A!
