A Few Garden Photos

imgp0665-a.jpg

I am posting these garden photos so you don’t think that I have completely fallen off of the planet.  Actually, I just returned from Wheaton, IL and took a day off.  That’s right, I took a day off, first one in over a month, lol.   When I am traveling, sometimes I miss the peak times for those flowers that don’t bloom very long.  When I left for Illinois last week none of these peonies where blooming.  So you can imagine my surprise to pull in the driveway upon my return to be greeted by these beauties.  🙂

I only have perennial gardens.  Perennials come up year after year for you.  Which is totally awesome since I don’t have any time for replanting.   The flowers also feel like old friends when you see them in bloom each year.  These peonies hold a very special place in my heart since they once graced my Grandmother’s garden.  Who has passed now.  Then they were passed down to my Mother, who then past them on to me.

Never fear, this is still a stamping blog, so I will hop off of here and create something to share with you later today.

Until my next post.. . .  . . .

Hugs,

Michelle

What beautiful peonies!! And what a nice welcome home. I have some of my grandmother’s peonies, too, so I know what a special place in your heart they must hold.

  4. Peonies are my favorite flower, followed closely by lilacs. I miss seeing them (sadly they don’t grow here in the Phoenix area). Thanks for sharing the photos!

How awesome that you got to see your flowers bloom. Perennials are sort of like old friends stopping by. You just hate to miss them!

So jealouse!!! I live in the country which means DEER and yes, they eat everything. So what I do have is fenced. Those flowers are lovely and how special to know they came from your Grandmother’s garden. I never knew either of my Grandmothers so you are blessed yet again.

  7. I loved the pictures and your story behind how they came to live with you. Just last week I was telling my grand-daughter about my mom’s poenies and how she had gardens and gardens full of of these in different colors. I told her that there wasn’t a Spring that went by that we didn’t have 4-5 vases full and that’s all you could smell in the house. I always think of my mom when I see them, and it just brought a smile to my face when I saw your pictures. And then tears when you told your story. Thank you for some wonderful memories!!

  8. Your peonies are so beautiful, as is the rest of your garden vignette! It makes me sad, actually. I planted peonies a few summers ago. This was the first year they were going to be resplendent with blooms, but I have to be away from home for an extended period so missed the whole show! Well, I guess I can enjoy the pictures of yours!

  9. I love peonies. My mother has them in her garden. Those gorgeous big flower heads always make me happy when I see them. I’ll look out for them today on our weekly market and buy some.
    Have a good day.

Wow – great peonies! And is that a geranium in front of them? It looks just like one that I have.
When I’m not stamping, or working, I’m a Master Gardener – so I love perennials, too, and I totally GET what you mean about old friends returning each year!

Your peonies are gorgeous, and what a great “hand me down” from generation to generation. You are very blessed to have them.

    Enjoy,

I love that your peonies were handed down to you. I was never a peony fan. We had them when I was a kiddo and all I could remember was they were always covered in ants. But, as an adult, I now understand the ant relationship and totally enjoy them. Yours are beautiful.

We used to take peonies to our teachers. Awesome pictures and story. Stamping blog or not, don’t hesitate to share stuff like this anytime! I think I need some perennials!
