My Mother’s Passing

Hi there, you are probably wondering why I have been absent from my blog for a while.  Well my Mother, Jeannette passed away at the very young age of 68.  I have been spending all of my time with her in her last days and now I will be taking care of her estate and making funeral arrangements.

My mother passed from a smoking related illness, please, please if you smoke, STOP NOW!  If not for yourself then for your family.

Thanks to everyone who has been keeping my family in thier thoughts.  I will resume my blog posts when I get my life back to normal.  Hang in there, I have not forgotten you.  🙂

Huge Hugs,

Michelle

Oh, Michelle, my heart goes out to you and your family. To lose someone so young and to smoking is so sad. Take time for yourself because you will have a lot of things to do. At times it may see overwhelming but know that we in the stamping world understand. Sending you lots of hugs and prayers.

    Michelle,
I’m so sorry to hear that your mother has passed. My father also passed from lung disease related directly to smoking a year and a half ago. I too say QUIT SMOKING NOW! If people could only see the passing related to lung disease, they definitely would. My thoughts are with you in dealing with all of the arrangements.

  3. I am so sorry. It is wonderful that you were able to spend time with her. I was able to spend time with my father at the end of his life last year. It was a special time for me that I will always cherish. My thoughts go out to you, Michelle.

Michelle, I am so sorry for your loss. I know what you mean when you say that your mother passed away “at the very young age” of 68. My mother passed away when she was only 69… much too young and I’ve always felt that I was cheated out of so many wonderful years with her. May God be with you in your time of loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was so worried that something was wrong. I’m sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom. Both of my parents smoked since a young age and my brother and I for YEARS! would nag them to stop. But they refused. My father died about five years ago with emphysema – he figured “why stop now?”. My mother has cut back but still smokes – I don’t even try to get her to stop. But I wish I could.

I will be thinking of you during this difficult time. Please take care of yourself. My prayers go out to you and your family. As someone else said, don’t worry about us – we’ll be here when you’re ready.

Dear Michelle – You’ve really had an enormous amount of stressful and painful situations of late. I’m so sorry to hear about your mother passing away and wanted to acknowledge your misery. It is universally understood that the pain of loss requires recovery time and closing an estate is time-consuming. The blog must be placed ‘on the back burner’ for use only when it fits your purpose for easing stress. That may be often but if it is not, don’t let that add to your stress. We want a healthy you enjoying what you do so well…and in the meantime know that your loyal fans will still be here!

I’m so sorry to hear about your mother. I also lost my mother to a smoking-related illness at the age of 69. I certainly know how you feel. My deepest condolences to you and your family. The important thing right now is to take care of matters at hand and, more importantly, yourself. Your friends will be here when you return.

Michelle, Russ and Sons….I am sorry to hear of the passing of your Mother (MIL) (Grandmother). It was wonderful to hear how much time you were able to spend with her before she passed on. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. It is never easy to lose someone we love, especially when it seems avoidable. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to your family. Take all the time you need to go through this next phase of your life, your generous spirit will keep you going through all of this. Take care, BIG HUGS right back at you!

I know how you feel about the smoking as my father died from the same thing. I just can’t understand why young people today start to smoke when they know all know the consequences!!
You will be in my thoughts and prayers during the funeral and all of the estate stuff that takes so long to finish.

My Dad died when he was 56. He smoked most of his life as well. He had brain cancer. I was only 23 when he died. I needed a father for much longer than that. I still miss him.

So sorry for the loss of your Mother. I hope you have family and friends there with you during this time.

My mom died from lung cancer – smoker for many, many years. Nasty, nasty habit – for yourself and anyone around you. Take care!

I am so very sorry for your loss. My mother passed away when she was 45 from ovarian cancer. She also smoked most of her adult life. There aren’t really any words that I can say that will bring comfort to you, but please know that I will be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

  26. Hello Michele,

My deepest sympathy for your loss. My father who was 84 died this last May from cancer. I miss him each and every day yet know he is with God now and no longer suffers.

Take good care of yourself. Also, here is something that helped me and my family. I kept a diary on all the steps taken with managing Dad’s affairs after his death. I found it was immensely helpful as Mom, my brother, and I worked through all the things that needed to be done after Dad died. It helped us to know what had been done, when, and what remained to be completed. Even though Dad died last month there is still an occasion where I need to refer back to the diary.

Take care, many hugs, and you and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.

If only a hug or kind word could take away the pain at this time, but know that your mum is now in no pain or discomfort. She will never really leave you as there is a piece of her in your heart, she will shine through at the most unexpected moments to make you laugh and/or cry. Take a bit of time to remember her in the good times with your family, let the tears flow and know she loves you.

  30. Michelle,
So sorry to hear of your mom’s passing on. I know the pain you must be feeling and the work involved in planning funeral and arranging the estate. My Dad passed just before 911 and I miss him so much. He was also in his early 60’s when he passed. I thought he would live forever as his mom was in her late 80’s when she passed. I planted a nice garden with pond in his memory and sometimes I just sit there and think of him. When I have my moments when I think all is lost I know he is my guardian angel and feel as though he has rescued me through some pretty hard times even though he is not physically here I know he is helping me. They say Whatever doesn’t break you only makes you stronger. I pray you get through this difficult time an even stronger person. I share in your sadness but rejoice in your strengths. You have blessed my life and I wish a smoother road ahead. I hope to see you again at convention and in the top 10 demonstrators of the year! Love you much
