A Little Show and Tell

Hello There,

Today’s post is just a little show and tell time.  This is a Printer’s Tray I decorated this morning, using a botanical theme, for my office.  I seem to have a very bad habit of making wonderful things and never keeping them.  Most of my projects end up in someone else’s home.    Leaving my walls a bit bare.  Anyone else have that problem?   Do you give all your creations away?

Anyhow, I did not do a tutorial on this project.  It was nice just doing something for myself without thinking about taking pictures etc.   Although, when I finished it, I have to admit, I wished I would have shared the step by step for you.

Printer’s trays are a blast to decorate.  I pick a color scheme and stick to it for each block.   This one was Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Certainly Celery and Marina Mist.  I find the tray gets too busy if you don’t have a color scheme in mind when you start.

I wish you could see this in person, there is texture, layers etc. that the camera didn’t pick up.

Here is a shot of each block.   The big butterfly is the Stampin’ Up! stamp Swallowtail.

The top block was done with the Stampin’ Up! set Everything Eleanor and the Butterfly reflection was created with the Stampin’ Up! set Nature walk.

I used the New Honeycomb Embossing folder on this block and the bee from Stampin’ Up! Nature walk set.

I added my monogram stamp to the lower right corner.  Gotta pat yourself on the back every now and then, lol.

Created this bird block using the Stampin’ Up! Nature Walk set and sentiment from the Stampin’ Up! set Feel Goods.

Well I hope you have been inspired to get a printer’s tray and create something beautiful for yourself.  You deserve it!

Until my next post. . . . . .

Hugs,

  1. Hi Beth, The frame is from Stampin’ Up! but it was only available to demonstrator for a short period of time.
Try doing a search on amazon or google Printer’s tray. I’m sure there are loads of companies that sell them.
I wish Stampin’ Up would bring it back for customers.
    Hugs!

  2. This is so gorgeous! If you decide to do another one to provide a tutorial I know where you could send the finished product! 🙂 I am like you, I make all sorts of things, but only a small amount of what I have made has stayed at my house. I need to make something pretty like this for my space! Thank you for sharing such a lovely project!

    Michelle,

This is one of THE BEST printer’s trays I’ve seen. I especially LOVE the monogram stamp image. This is a demonstrator only item via Stampin Up?

    • Hi Kelli,

You can get your own Stampin’ Up! monogram stamp. It is item number 126565. You can check it out on page 147 of the annual catalog. 🙂 I love mine. It’s just the finishing touch to stamp the back of each of my projects and looks so elegant.

      Hugs!

Oh, my goodness, Michelle! You DO deserve a pat on the back! That’s gorgeous. And even though we can’t really see the textures you added, your close-up photos are sharp enough to give us the idea of what you created. Do you really mean you just “whipped” that up this morning? I’m almost more impressed by that than the tray itself (not really). That definitely belongs on your wall so you can be reminded of what it is that all of us continually admire about you.

Thank you for sharing your printer tray. It is a beautiful collage and looks like it would be calming and increase your creativity. I have a plastic chain with clips that I used to keep my grandson’s stuffed animals that I now keep near my computer and clip my favorites.

Oh my goodness!!!!! this is amazing, beautiful, stunning, show stopper, GORGEOUS!!!!! This project just pushed me over the edge about that beautiful butterfly stamp. I’m getting this in my next order. It’s just ovet the top, Michelle. I will definitely look for those trays, I’m sure they sell them somewhere. I think I’ve seen them at Hobby Lobby.
Thank you so much for sharing this incredible work of art with us.

  10. Michelle – this is really lovely – I am glad you created something for yourself – it looks gorgeous on your wall. I am glad you just made something for once – doing all the tutorials must be very demanding on your time and creativity energy. Thank you for them though.

There are several things I want to bring to your attention. You have done a fantastic job with your weight loss; that is to be recognized and congratulated. As a fellow crafter I know how easy it is to allow the creative muse to preclude everything else including movement (beyond the desperate dash to the facilities because you’ll just finish ONE MORE THING before going). You are consistent with your style; it’s reassuring when I see someone I think is an artist in their chosen craft ‘owning’ their style. Every once in a while I step out of my comfort zone, try something different (colours, techniques) and, while it turns out I find myself itching to get back into the groove. Your site inspires me to try new things but also encourages me to do what I’m good at and hone it. Your post and responses exude a lovely kindness. It makes your site a joy to visit and follow. And, in addition to all that, you are a brilliant artist. Everyone receives the same stamps, you take them to a whole new level and inspire. Thank you for that.
