Farewell Precious Lucas

Russ and I had to say farewell to our precious Lucas.  He passed this morning at the age of 12.  Such a gentle giant that will not be forgotten.

Sorry for my blog absence, but my heart is broken.  I’m going to go cry some more.

    I am so sorry for you. I lost my little Yorkie a few months back, and it devastated me. She was my constant companion. My prayers are with you.

    Oh, Michelle, I am so sorry! Lucas was such a beautiful boy. I know how much we all love our fur babies. I only saw my dad cry 3 times in my life, and one of those was when his beagle died. I will be thinking of you.

    Oh Michelle……no words can help at a time like this….just allow yourself to cry …..you will miss him for a long time. We are animal people, too, we have an almost 10 year old dog and a 16 year old cat. They are our ‘family’…..and anyone that loves animals understands the need to grieve and be sad for a time.     Dear Michelle and Ross: Sometimes it’s hard for me to find words to express sorrow to a friend at a time of loss and that’s why I’m borrowing this words from Joel Morgan:
    “Grief is so painfully real, regardless of it’s origin. The Love of, and attachment to an animal friend can equal that of human relationships. Likewise, the loss of an animal can be just as devastating.”
    I hope you can find comfort in remembering Lucas, the wonderful times you spent with him and the joy you felt from the love he gave so selflessly.

    Michelle,
    I just lost my dog of 14 years a few months back and can feel your broken heart. One of the things I decided to do to honor him was to have my family write down all their memories of him (he had quite the personality) and make a photo book using MDS. He will always be missed as I’m sure your Lucas will be too, but whenever the tears fall, bring your mind to a happy memory you have of him and hold that memory close to your heart.

    SO sorry to hear Michelle and Russ… We lost our girl a year ago, and despite having 2 new furry friends, I still cry and pine for her. Go cry, and then cry some more… Eventually the tears will turn from pain and sorrow, to tears that come from happy memories…
