Simply Sketched Sympathy – Stampin’ Up! Card

Hello There,
Do you stock pile sympathy cards?  I find that I like to make my sympathy cards as I need them.  They are such a very personal thing to send so I like to customize them for the recipient.  Does that make sense?  I know we can do that for any card, such as birthday etc. but, I don’t feel as strongly about it as I do with sympathy cards.
While I’m on my soap box regarding sympathy cards, we should all be conveying our feelings of sympathy by mailing a card, not posting to facebook, sending an e-mail etc.  In these days of technology we have lost that true personal connection with each other that a physical card makes.  Don’t you agree?
I have a dear friend who lost her husband this week and my heart is breaking for her, I cannot even imagine sending my feelings of sympathy via facebook or e-mail to her, enough said.
Today’s card was created using the stunning stamp image from the Stampin’ Up! Hostess set Simply Sketched.     Put that image in front of a mountain in a meadow and you have such a tranquil scene.  The sentiments in this set have such a beautiful font also.
You can find the complete supply list below for this project and also how to the get the tutorial for this project free or by purchase below.

What a lovely, serene Sympathy card Michelle!! this cards are always hard to make, you must be careful not to make them to flashy. This card is a sweet example of how they should be done. I love this little bird and the landscape you created is magnificent!!! It’s sad and true that with all of this technology the personal touch of a hand written letter or a handmade card is been lost somehow. We must strive to keep it alive and that’s why I love this craft, I just can’t imagine sending a birthday e-card to my family and friends and certainly NEVER sending one of this electronic cards to someone who’ve lost a loved one.
Technology is great but the old fashion way of keeping in touch is so much better.
Thank you for sharing, my thoughts and prayers go to your dear friend.
    Maria.

This is beautiful and even looks very heartfelt. It’s interesting that you bring up stockpiling sympathy cards because I’ve been considering doing just that. I have so many to send right now and want to have some on hand because I don’t want to _not_ send a card (or purchase one 🙂 and with many people on my Mom’s side of the family especially passing away (very large family, with the youngest in the 70s) and friends having pets that are like family passing away, I want to be sure to send them cards. I wish I had the time to stamp regularly and could then do them as needed, but given that that’s not the case (tho I am working that direction :), for now, stockpiling is the answer for me.

I am superstitious about sympathy cards, It seems like if I have them on hand, then I need them. Instead, I have some cards without a sentiment that could fit more than one occasion.

Sorry for my absence, been really busy with yardwork and gardening and guess what? We are getting into raising chickens for egg laying. 😀 Really love the card…I agree that sympathy cards are more personal than other types of cards and since I’m new to cardmaking, I have not made any myself. Thanks for sharing Michelle. I really love your cards. =)
