At the Beach – Stampin’ Up! Card and Chicken Update, Oh Boy!

So, I will be off on a wonderful 7 day cruise to the Western Caribbean in the near future, complements of Stampin’ Up! Woohoo!  So my mind is on much warmer places today, as you can tell from my project.

The sunglasses image is from the Stampin’ Up! Hostess set, Making a Point.  This would be a great time to place that large $150 order and get this set, plus more free.    Especially since Stampin’ Up! is giving free shipping on every purchase this week.  Just saying. . . . . . . .

I whipped up a little beach scene to put the glasses on and gave it that travel feel by putting my main image panel on the Post card image.  🙂  I think I will use this as a thank you card for the ship’s crew that takes care of our cruise ship cabin.  What do you think?

ARE WE THERE YET??????

You can find the complete supply list below for this project and also how to the get the tutorial for this project free or by purchase below.

On another note. . . . . .

One of the chickens has lost her mind.

This is Goldie, our largest hen.  She is one of the babies from the last batch of chicks we got.  Well she grew up and out and really is the largest of them all.  Apparently, her size really intimidates the other hens so they have all started to pick on her.  I just want to cuddle her and tell her everything will be okay.

Goldie has taken to hanging out in the nesting boxes 24/7, she may be broody but she isn’t sitting on any eggs, weird.  Anyhow, when she is out in the yard she runs every where she goes so no one will get the chance to peck at her.  Can’t we all just get along?

The other day, I made her get out of the nesting box and go out and get some fresh air, which really upset her.  Next thing I know, she has had enough of everyone pecking at her and she has Pearl down on the ground taking chunks out of her, YIKES!

This is the bully/victim, Pearl.  She is fine now, but she was a bloody mess until I was able to calm her down and clean her all up.  She has a piece of her waddle, ear and chest missing.  I’m thinking she will not be picking on Goldie anytime in the near future.

I’m not sure if I wanted to cheer for Goldie or scold her, all I know is that you have to let the chickens work out the pecking order.   I’m thinking Goldie may work her way up the ladder one of these days, in a whisper I secretly told her ” you go girl.”

Now you all may think why on earth would you go to so much trouble, raising chickens.  Well most of the time the girls are doing their jobs, like Sugar and Fern above and you get lots of these. . . . .

Which are the best thing on the plant.  🙂

One other thing. . . .

I got all of my swap cards done yesterday, woohooo!

May your day be one of your best ever!

Until my next post. . . . . . .  .

Huge Hugs!

Oh those hens. They are so funny. We had some and enjoyed them a lot as a child. Would love to have some now. Even on the some our family who lived on farms-the hens were fun and collecting eggs was great. Keep up those wonderful stories for us.

YIKES!!!!! I just don’t know what to say, they all look so docile and calm and proper…..I can’t imagine seeing them bloody and fighting, what the heck? is this normal? are they fighting for a rooster? Well Michelle, after seeing the picture of that marvelous, ginormous egg, I totally understand why you have this feathered girls around, they are doing their job, all right!!
Now, on to this deliciously summery card…..I can’t wait till it’s beach time, sheeesh!! this summer has been brutal and looooong, so all of us are looking forward to those hot days when we can go lay out on the beaches of Lake Michigan, getting a bit of color and watching the kids frolic in the water.
Thank you for sharing your sweet hen stories, I’ve seen this little gals grow up before my very eyes, (well, through pictures here) and I love it.
Congratulations on finishing those beautiful cards, goodness!! that’s a lot of work.!!!!!

OOOPS!! I meant to say “THIS WINTER HAS BEEN SO BRUTAL AND LOOOOONG…..” Sorry, I guess I had thoughts of Summer and cold drinks at the beach and suntan lotion and warm sand under my feet and seeing the grandkids and me splashing around in the water.
Thank you for this card that brought all of this delicious thoughts to my head.
