Paper Storage

DSC_0001_edited-1

I’m curious, how do you store your card stock?  This is a photo of my card stock set up, not very elaborate but it’s very functional.  These are magazine holders with a piece of card stock on the front as a label with the names of the card stock it holds.  I just have the label taped on with packaging tape, very fancy indeed, lol.

The holders sit back in a bookcase and are on a wall where the sun doesn’t shine on it directly. This wouldn’t work in direct light from a window, the card stock would fade over time.

I store my paper in a wooden paper holder that my father-in-law made for me. In fact, he made 2 of them for me. Each one holds 24 different colors. They are not near any sunlight of course. But they are wonderful.

My husband built two wooden paper holders, one 8 1/2 x 11 and one 12 x 12, the first one has shelves for each color we have plus the latest three in color groups. The second holds mostly just DSP plus some solid colored card stock. I love my storage shelves and my hubby, he’s very handy, has even built a punch holder for the new flat punches, along with shelves, a work table, an 8 foot desk, and a table for my computer and printer.

well, since I have all of the colors of cs SU! has ever made, with the exception of the newest in colors, I have a huge double wide credenza type filing cabinet set of drawers to hold all of my papers. each drawer holds 3 rows of file folders, so I can get quite a lot of card stock inside each one. all are sorted alphabetically.

I have a smaller filing cabinet that is part of my work desk that hold the non-SU! solid colors. designer paper pads are sorted by mfg. into small baskets that go on my shelves.

have a great weekend! and thanks for the catalog! it just arrived today, and I can’t wait to sit down to enjoy! 🙂

I bought a 5 drawer filing cabinet that my church was getting rid of and have all my card stock in hanging folders in the drawers. It sits next to my desk, so I can just pull out a drawer to get whatever paper I want. One drawer has current colors; one drawer has retired colors; one drawer has neutrals, vellums, metallics, etc.; the other two drawers have miscellaneous other things in them.

My cardstock is stored similar to yours, on the same side of the room as my window so it does not get direct sunlight. I have all my cardstock stored in magazine holders with each color inside its own heavy duty page protector sleeve. (The heavy duty sleeves hold more cardstock.) When I need a color, I can pull out the entire sleeve of that color and then I can store any leftover pieces in the front of the sleeve and then I don’t have any scraps laying around. Since my cardstock is stored up high, I have my magazine holders on their back and turned around so that I can slide the sleeves out toward me. (Hope that makes sense.) The page protectors are labeled with adhesive tabs made by Avery. =)
