Hello Stampers and Happy Friyay!

This morning as I was putting away some supplies that were scattered all over my desk, I was thinking about how many of you may cringe when you see ink pads and stamp blocks all gunked up with ink and adhesive and such.  Don’t get me started on the state of my stamps, scissors, markers etc.

    What a tease…I thought you were going to blog about the Campology Stamp Set! I would faint if I saw those ink pads on my desk! My nickname is “Mrs. Monk”! BUT in deference to your creations, having them on YOUR desk is allowed…lol.

    I would have to wipe the ink pads off. Occasionally I clean my blocks. My desk is usually messy. I do try to have all my stamps organized and such. Just caught up this summer getting the 75+ sets stamped in my binder. I was way behind. Then I combine a few sets in one case and create new labels because I can’t sell my retired stuff. I can’t bring myself to part with them.

    Being both left/ right-brained, I spend as much time in one “camp” as the other. Aren’t we artists SUPPOSED to be quirky, messy, tortured??

    My countertop looks like a bomb exploded on it, but all my tools are clean! I find that if I don’t wipe up my ink pads after I use them, I smudge ink on my next project. I like to think of it as ‘clean messy’!

    I make a mess while I’m working, but always clean things and put them away when I’ve finished my project. Otherwise, I would never be able to fine anything!

    I am definitely not organized. I am in the state of organized chaos. I know which pile my stuff is in. however, my ink pads have to be clean. I spritz & wipe before I put them away. my blocks too!

    Our craft of card making includes inky fingers and different crafters use different techniques, some “messier than others”. Your technique of blending beautiful colors of ink makes inky fingers and tools. Some like to do lots of layers of CS and don’t do much else but stamp a sentiment. They spend a lot of time cutting and measuring and gluing. Right now I am into heat embossing and then using watercolors to fill spaces where I want color. Or I stamp using solid images, water based ink on wet watercolor CS. It is a relatively clean process. My tendency if I get glue runner on my work space or ink on my fingers or something, is to clean it up before I get it on my project! I like to come back to a clean work space, so just like my kitchen, I clean up after myself so it is ready to go the next time I need to use it. But I am not a demonstrator and do not post my cards and am not in my craft room much of the day. I mainly make cards when I have a need for one. I used to go to a card class at the Y, but with the virus, that is not happening. So my card making is with clean tools and supplies, new or old! But I understand those who get messy and create beautiful works of art on their cards like you do, Michelle. I buy too much and have a lot of storage issues so we all have something on that side of chaos! Loved reading the comments, especially the first one that said “Dang Girl, what exploded in here?” because that is what my craft room looks like. I related to her but I relate to “neat and clean ” too. Guess I am a bit of both.

    My craft room is a mess! But, I know where everything is in the clutter. I seldom have problems finding things. LOL! However, I have to clean my blocks, stamps and ink pads after I use them. I might leave stamps on blocks overnight, only because I want to continue playing with them later. But, before I start another project all the stamps, blocks and ink pads get a wipe down. Then, I put away my scraps, and start with a fresh space. And, I mean space because the desk is very cluttered with things I will use again. You know, all those “useful pieces”.

    I guess I belong in the clean camp. I don’t mind a messy desk while I am creating, but I have to wipe off my stamp pads and stamps and clean up spills and put one project away before starting another.

    I like to leave my desk cleaned and organized when I’m finished so that it speaks to me when I walk into the room……but, not like…”HELP ME”….LOL

    I definitely clean as I go. I try to stay organized, because I feel like I’m more creative, when I’m not thinking about all of the cleaning / organizing that needs done.

    I have to have clean ink pads so nothing else accidentally gets inked. Dirty pads would drive me nuts. My supplies and area may be messy for a bit but then they have to be cleaned up too.

    Interesting reading about others creating and cleaning techniques! I think I am both left and right brained so I can work until I hit entropy and then have to spend a morning or afternoon getting everything cleaned organized and put back in a place where I can find it. I do clean my stamps as I go especially with versa mark. But getting them put back into the correct set can be a challenge! I try to leave the box/sleeve out but that doesn’t always happen. I have taken to organizing my paper scraps by color so that has helped when I need a little piece of color on a card. I have a small work space so keeping it a bit more organized helps. As I acquire more stuff, I find it helps to have some organization, but I still find myself looking for scissors or tweezers or some marker or stamp set amid the craft chaos.
