Hamburger Box Die Video

Hello There,

I thought I would feature this video on my blog today.  It shows how to use the brand new Hamburger box die.  When I first got this die I struggled with putting it together so I wanted you to have the lowdown on the correct way that will make your boxes go together in a jiffy.  Not to mention they are SUPER CUTE!

Pines Reflection – Stampin’ Up! Card

Hello There,

To start out this months tutorial projects I decided to do a peaceful reflection scene and dress it up with the brand new file tab Edgelit Dies, Back to Black Designer Series Paper, new corner rounder and the Decorative Dots embossing folder.  Just for an added surprise there are 3 sentiments on this card.  One on the front, one inside the folder and one inside the card.  🙂

Strawberry Days

Hello There,

Happy Sunday!  I hope you are having a relaxing weekend.  But if you are anything like me you tend to use the weekend to get caught up on things.  🙂

It’s strawberry time here.  I have a little patch of strawberries that gives me about a quarter a day from the last week of May to the end of June.  That is if I get out early to pick them before the local birds eat them.

They are yummy just eaten as is, straight from the garden.   We have had strawberry short cake a few times and this morning I made Fresh Strawberry Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins,  Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Any strawberries left get frozen immediately to be used later in jam etc.

This is how I freeze them.  I rinse them off with cool water.  I hull them (cut the tops off).  Then I let them dry on a kitchen towel for a few moments.  After they are dry I put them on a cookie sheet in a single layer and par freeze them for 1 hour.  Then into a freezer bag and off to the freezer they go for later use.  Super simple!

The tops that I have cut off when hulling them are given to the girls as a treat.  We don’t waste anything we grow.  🙂

They love them.

Hello There,

Ya know, sometimes it’s not all bad to not put your supplies up.  I had the Stampin’ Up! Wetlands set still out on my desk from my last project and decided to give it another go.  I came up with this dock scene.  In fact this scene has been rolling around in my head for some time now.  I’m glad to get it down on card stock and that it worked out the way I had imagined.  I love it when a plan comes together!

I hope you had a nice 3 day holiday weekend.  I took the time off and worked on my garden, went to two family gatherings and kicked backed.  Sometimes a girl just has to have some down time.  🙂

I played around a bit with the Stampin’ Up! Wetlands set this morning and came up with this tranquil scene.   I hope it inspires you to get inky today too.

My Morning with the Girls

Hello there,

Do you ever just take the time to sit and say to yourself “I’m so very fortunate.”  Well that’s exactly how I feel this morning.  It has nothing to do with money or possessions.  Believe me, Russ and I live a very modest life.  It’s just a sense of being.  🙂

This morning I got to have girl time with my favorite chicks.  That’s probably what contributed to my inner peace.  I went outside to find these ladies waiting at the gate for me.

I always think, look they love me so much.  They cannot wait to have time with me so they are waiting at the gate.

Then this happens. . . . . . . . . .

They stampede right by me to get to their favorite place.  The bird feeders.  🙂  This is were they find wonderful sunflower seeds that the birds have tossed out to them.

That’s okay, they eventually notice I am there in the background, quietly having my coffee and enjoying my morning.

One by one they come to say “good morning, when did you arrive here?”

This is my favorite girl Sugar.  She likes to show off her big red comb from all sides, apparently.  I think I would too if I had that on my head.

There was one girl missing this morning and I knew exactly where she could be found.  This is Goldie and she has gone Broody.  That means she is trying to hatch some eggs and relentlessly stays on the nest.  Poor girl, I keep taking the eggs from under her.  They are not fertile, we don’t have a Rooster in our flock and they will never hatch, but try telling her that.

Okay, I’m getting the look from Red.  This is her “go get me some Kale” look.  I am their slave so let’s go to the garden.

On the way to the garden I passed the bleeding hearts in bloom and the heavenly smell of the Lilac in bloom.  To bad this isn’t smell a vision.

We arrive at the little front garden where many of my Spring veggies are growing.

There is the Kale.  “Got it Red.”  “Be right there!”

After giving Red her Kale, I get to kick back with my coffee once again to enjoy the views and soak up the morning sun before the task of the day start.  There is tilling and tomato planting on the agenda.
