Something to Crow About – Tutorial #370

I know it is very odd, but I love these crows from the Stampin’ Up! set Graveyard Gala.  I have used them so much in the past year or so.  Don’t ask me why they appeal so much to me, because I don’t have an answer for you, lol.

Any how, I paired them up with the Stampin’ Up stencil I still had sitting on my desk from my last tutorial.    It really gave me a different look using the stencil with Basic Black ink.    I’m envisioning wrought iron here.

This is one project where I just kept adding things in order to get more depth in the scene.    Hope you hang  out a moment to check out the tutorial below or better yet, give this card a try.

Let’s get started. . .  .

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Graveyard Gala, Lovely as a Tree
Paper: Stampin’ Up! Old Olive, Whisper White and Basic Black
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Not Quite Navy, Peach Parfait, Basic Black and Old Olive
Accessories: Stampin’ Up Sponges, Basic Black marker, Brayer Curly Label Punch, Post it Note, Mostly Vintage Decor Stencil, 1 3/8″ circle punch and Post it notes

Started with a 3″ x 5.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  Punched a 1 3/8″ circle from the sticky part of a post it note and used it to mask my moon.

Brayered Not Quite Navy at the top of the card stock.

Brayered Peach Parfait ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Removed the moon mask and lined up my stencil on the card stock.

Sponged Basic Black ink in the stencil design.

Removed the stencil.

Stamped the two crows using Basic Black ink.

Colored in the center tree in the stamp from the Stampin’ Up set Lovely as a Tree using a Basic Black Marker.  Huffed on the stamp and stamped it on my card stock.

Tore a couple of small hill shapes in the sticky part of a post it note.  Used this to mask for my hill.

Sponged Old Olive ink in the bottom area of the card stock.

Moved the mask down and over a bit and sponged Old Olive ink in for the second hill.

Extended the trunk of the tree and colored in the two crows using a Basic Black marker.

Punched one curly label punch out of Basic Black card stock.  Cut the punch in half.

Added two Basic Black panels and one Old Olive panel to the main image panel.

Adhered the punches to the card stock, butting them up against the smaller Basic Black panel.

Added 4 gold brads.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

Well I am off to Colorado tomorrow to visit my Sister.  I best get packing.

Have a super fun and exciting Autumn week all while keeping the Ghost and Goblins at bay.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Huge Hugs,

Michelle

Started with a 4.5″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  Masked the bottom of the card stock with a post it note that I ripped the top edge off of.

Brayered Baja Breeze ink at the top of the card stock.  Baja Breeze is an excellent icy color for winter cards.

Stamped the trees from the Stampin’ Up Lovely as a Tree set using Baja Breeze ink.

Removed the mask.

Colored the deer stamp in, omitting the antlers using a Soft Suede Marker.  Huffed on the stamp and then stamped it on my project.

Colored the image in darker using the same Soft Suede marker.

Stamped the Stampin’ Up Stamp Dasher on the slick side of my Stamp-a-ma-jig plastic sheet using Basic Black ink.  Quickly turned it over onto my project and rubbed the back of the plastic to transfer the image from the plastic to the card stock.

Note the image does not come out crystal clear.  It gives you enough detail to color it in.

Colored the Deer in using a Basic Black marker.

Added White Gel Pen highlights to the antlers, ears, tail and top of heads of the deer.

Put a post it note mask on the project and sponged Baja Breeze ink at the post it note edge to create a shadow under the deer.

Added a Whisper White and Baja Breeze card stock panels.

Using the Stampin’ Up Mostly Vintage Decor Stencil added the design by sponging in the open areas of the stencil Baja Breeze ink.

Moved the stencil down and repeated the process.

Added Whisper White Ribbon.

Added a couple of antique brads.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be with love and laughter.

Until my next post. .. . . .  . . ..

Hugs,

Michelle

Day of Gratitude – Blog Candy, Oh Yeah Baby!

Hey There, Well I am back from my week in the awesome state of Georgia.    Where I got to spend some time teaching and touring Savannah and Atlanta.   Fun, fun times!

I’m going to show you some pictures I took on my trip, but first I want to give away a great Stampin’ Up! set of Stamps “Day of Gratitude”.   I got so many e-mails/comments from people telling me they wanted this set after I used it in this card, I thought I would give a set away as blog candy.

Not to mention I have been neglecting you, by not being able to post projects during my trip.  So, to enter to win this lovely, lovely set of stamps, please leave a comment telling me to enter you.   If you are receiving this blog update via e-mail you will need to CLICK HERE then leave a comment.  Please no e-mail entries.

I will use a number generator on Friday, October 22, 2010 to select the winner.  Remember, you cannot win if you do not enter.  Good luck everyone!

Now, here are some scenery pictures from my trip.  🙂

I am so very fortunate to get to drive to many of my Brayer Workshop locations.  Getting to see the sights around the United States is one very big perk!

This was taken somewhere between Ohio and Savannah, Georgia, lol.  It was taken through the windshield as I was driving so. .. . . . .

This is my dream home in Savannah all decked out for Autumn.  Love the stunning architecture in this town.  This was not my first trip to Savannah, but I just can’t get enough of it.

One of the fountains in the Squares.  Check out the moss hanging from that oak tree.  Love it!  If you visit Savannah, don’t just take a trolly tour etc., really you must see and walk through some of the squares to get a real feel of what it must be like to live there.

How about some more architecture.

Of course, I had to eat dinner at Paul Deen’s Restaurant, Lady & Sons.  Sorry, this was taken when I left the restaurant at night.  🙂   MMMMM good food!

My second day there I went to Tybee Island.  🙂

I finished my day with this, lol

The next three days were full of fun Brayer Workshops in both Savannah and Atlanta.  Then my drive home yesterday.

I have a really rough job, not!

May your day be filled with fun stuff.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle

Wonderful Fall Day – Tutorial #367

We had such spectacular Fall days over the weekend here in Ohio it just put me in the mood to put it on paper.   So today’s tutorial is what I came up with.

Although, I love to travel to warm places that don’t see much of the seasonal changes that we get here, I could never live with out the change of seasons.  I am after all a Spring and Fall person and grew up here in Ohio were we see it all.  🙂  Okay, so I love Summer and Winter too, lol.  But Spring and especially Fall are my favorite times of the year.   I tend to wilt in the very hot temps of Summer and cannot get warm sometimes in the Winter.     What’s it like in your part of the world?  What is your favorite time of year?

Speaking of warm places, I am traveling to Savannah, Georgia tomorrow morning and then on to Atlanta, Georgia on Friday evening.  So today I am packing the van full of workshop supplies and doing last minute errands before heading South.     I can’t wait to get there where I will be meeting new brayer students, and some students that will be returning to take the advanced workshop.  Some times these workshops are like coming home again, especially when I get to see some of the students for a second time.  Also my Savannah Hostess, Lilann Taylor is very dear to me.  We became instant friends my first trip to Savannah.   Ready or not Georgia,  HERE I COME!

Now let’s get started on today’s tutorial. . .  . . .

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up Season of Friendship
Paper: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Cajun Craze and Basic Black
Ink: Stampin’ Up More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Old Olive, Baja Breeze, Tempting Turquoise, Not Quite Navy and Basic Black
Accessories: Stampin’ Up Sponges, Brayer, Clear embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Gold Brads and Tempting Turquoise Ribbon

On a 3.5″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White card stock, stamped the leaves from the Stampin’ Up set, Season of Friendship by first loading the stamp with Versamark, then More Mustard ink then stamped it.  Repeated loading the stamp with Versamark and then More Mustard ink for each stamping.

Heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Stamped more leaves by first loading the stamp with Versamark and then with Cajun Craze ink before stamping them.  Heat embossed the Cajun Craze images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Stamped more leaves by first loading the stamp with Versamark and then with Soft Suede ink before stamping them.  Heat embossed the Soft Suede images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Brayered Tempting Turquoise ink at an angle on the top right corner of the card stock.

Brayered Not Quite Navy ink at the top right corner of the card stock at an angle.

Sponged Old Olive ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Sponged Soft Suede ink at the very bottom of the card stock.

Stamped the tree from the Stampin’ Up set, Season of Friendship using Baja Breeze ink.

Stamped another tree using Tempting Turquoise ink.

Stamped another tree using Basic Black ink.

Lightly buffed the ink off of my embossed images using a paper towel.

Added Basic Black and Cajun Craze card stock panels, Gold Brads and Tempting Turquoise ribbon.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.5″ square.

I hope this tutorial has inspired you to put what you are seeing in nature in your area on paper.  Really, inspiration is all around us.

Yesterday, since it was so nice out.  I hooked the garden hose up and gave my faithful companions Lucas and Abby a bath.   These beast are both over 100 lbs. so I actually get a bath the same time they do.  Some how they come out smelling pretty good, but I end up smelling like wet dog, lol.

I got so tickled at Lucas, here he is all clean and fluffy and I am trying to take his picture.  When you point a camera at him, he shakes his head no and closes his eyes.  You really have to be pretty patient to get one of his face.  Check it out.

Oh, we can’t forget Abby.  All you have to do is ask her if she wants a treat and she perks right up for the camera.   If you are curious, Lucas is a German Short Haired Point/Great Dane Mix and Abby is Black Lab.   Although she is turning a bit gray now, but aren’t we all.  🙂

Hey, have a super week!

Until my next post. . . .  . . .

Huge Hugs,

Michelle

Stamped the Medallion from the Stampin’ Up set Day of Gratitude, item number 121148, by first loading the stamp with Versamark, then loading it with Daffodil Delight ink, then using the corner of the Cajun Craze ink pad, patted it on the stamp all the way around, leaving the center light, then added Rich Razzleberry Ink using only the corner of the pad and patted it all the way around the edge of the stamp, then I stamped the image on a 4″ square piece of Whisper White card stock.

Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Now that my image is heat embossed it will protect the colors on the image.  Sponged Rich Razzleberry ink in the center of the image.

Sponged Cajun Craze up to the Rich Razzleberry sponging.

Sponged Rich Razzelberry ink around the outside of the Madallion.

Stamped the flowers from the Stampin’ Up set Day of Gratitude around the edge of the card stock using Basic Black ink.

Added White Gel pen dots around the edge of the Medallion.

Punched Basic Black Photo corners.

Added Basic Black and Cajun Craze card stock panels, silver brads, the Basic Black Photo Corners and a flower brad in the center of the Medallion.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.5″ square.

I hope this tutorial has inspired you to play a bit with the Emboss Resist technique.  You won’t regret it!

Until my next post. . . . .  .

Hugs,

Michelle

Breast Cancer Awareness – Tutorial #365

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.   This subject is very near to my heart these days since my Sister has been battling Breast Cancer.   So in honor of my Sister’s fight and everyone else in the world that had been touched by this disease I have created this card.    I was very much influenced by a breast cancer sign I had seen and decided to give it a go using die cut shapes as masks and the Stampin’ Up Ribbon of Hope stamp.

Before we get started I want to make a few announcements.   I have added the following locations to my Brayer Workshop Calendar:

Leesburg, Florida

Staley, North Carolina

Montreal, Wisconsin

Please click on the above links for information of each workshop location.

Now let’s get startedon that tutorial . . . . . .  . .

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin Up Ribbon of Hope
Paper: Stampin’ Up Whisper White and Melon Mambo
Ink: Stampin’ Up Blushing Bride, Peach Parfait and Regal Rose
Accessories: Stampin’ Up Markers, sponges, circles & Oval die cuts, Big Shot Machine, crystal brad

The brand new USA Idea book and Catalog is here.   For your copy, please send a check for $9.95 to Michelle Zindorf, P.O. Box 116, West Alexandria, OH 45381 or send it via paypal to mzindorf@aim.com USA only.     Want a copy of the new Holiday Mini Catalog ?  E-mail your mailing address to mzindorf@aim.com and I will get one in the mail to you.  )  Are you getting inspiration from this blog?   One way you can help support it is to order your Stampin’ Up products through me.   Click HERE to place an order.    Want to become a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator , receive a 20% discount on product and earn instant income on orders?  Consider being part of my Stampin’ Up Team and start your own business or become a Hobby Demo just for the discount.  Click HERE for more information.

Started by cutting the largest Circle and Oval using my Big Shot Machine and Dies.

Using the Negative image from the Oval Die Cut, masked the top center of a 4.5″ square piece of Whisper White card stock and sponged Peach Parfait ink in the oval opening.

Masked the Peach Parfait inked area using the Oval Die Cut and sponged Blushing Bride ink all over the rest of the card stock.

Drew a line around the Oval Die Edge using a Pretty in Pink marker.

Removed the oval mask and added the circle mask.  Sponged Peach Parfait ink along the edge of the circle mask to create “cleavage”.

Sponged Regal Rose ink at the bottom edge of the circle to create the underside shadow of the breast.

Moved the circle to the left side and repeated the Peach parfait and Regal Rose Sponging.

Sponged Regal Rose ink around the edges of the card stock.

Also stamped the “Ribbon of Hope” stamp using Blushing Bride ink.

Added some depth in the ribbon by adding Regal Rose and Pretty in Pink Marker to the ribbon image.

Added a bit of highlight with a white gel pen at the top of the ribbon image.

Added Whisper White and Melon Mambo card stock panels.  Also added a Pink crystal brad to the ribbon image.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.25″ square.

Much Love to all of you out there!

Hugs,

Michelle
