dsc04531.JPG

Sponge Soft Sky ink on the image using a circular motion and leaving a light area in the middle of the image.

dsc04532.JPG

dsc04534.JPG

Colored the eyes with a Bordering Blue marker.

dsc04535.JPG

Colored the highlight in the eye with a White Gel Pen.

dsc04536.JPG

Background panel:  Brayered Soft Sky ink on Whisper White card stock.

dsc04537.JPG

Brayered Not Quite Navy Ink on the top and bottom of the card stock, leaving the Soft Sky ink showing in the middle.

dsc04538.JPG

Covered the bottom of the card stock with post it notes to mask it.

dsc04539.JPG

Ripped a Jagged edge in a piece of scrap paper to use to mask the top of the card stock and to create a mountain image.

dsc04540.JPG

Holding the scrap paper mask in place, sponged black ink in the unmasked area.

dsc04541.JPG

Removed both masks.

dsc04542.JPG

Turned card stock upside down and put post it notes on to mask a little bit of the card stock under the mountains to create a beach.  Sponged Not Quite Navy ink right at the edge of the post it notes using a swiping motion from right to left.  This creates the look of water.

dsc04543.JPG

Removed mask and adhered friendship image to the background.

dsc04544.JPG

Using yet another post it note, I placed it on the card stock and sponged Not Quite ink at the edge of it to create rays of light.   Moving the post it note and sponging ink over and over again until I went completely around the image.

dsc04546.JPG

dsc04547.JPG

dsc04548.JPG

Using a ruler, added a line of White gel pen on each Not Quite Navy light ray.

dsc04550.JPG

dsc04551.JPG

Assembled card and using a Stamp-a-ma-jig, stamped sentiment with black ink.

dsc04552.JPG

Here is the finished card, measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

dsc04554.JPG

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and will try putting rays of light on one of your projects.  🙂

One more thing before I wrap things up today.   We have a winner for the Basic Grey stamp set!  Note:  I ended up using a random number generator, because my husband thought it too much pressure to pick a number when there were over 400 entries and he didn’t want to make any one upset, lol.  Such a sweetie that man of mine is!    Drum roll please.. . . .. . . . . . .

It is comment 198

Karen, who wrote:

“Thanks for your wonderful tutorials- I have learned so much from you! And it seems I have the insidious CRS as well!

It’s so generous of you that you’d put out this blog candy as well as share your secrets- thank you!”

Karen I will be e-mailing you for your address.  🙂

A big thank you to everyone that played along.  All of your comments were heart warming and some very funny.   Stampers are the best people!

May your day be filled with sunshine.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Dark Cheetah – Tutorial

dsc04580.JPG

I have a couple hundred Stampin’ Up stamp sets and some times I just have to pull one of the old ones out and use it.  Like this morning.

I can’t believe this is tutorial number 72.  Didn’t I just start this blog?  Hope you all are still out there following along.

Let’s get started on today’s tutorial.  🙂

Supplies:

Stamps:SU In the Wild, Stampendous Marble Texture Cube
Paper:SU Whisper White, Cool Caribbean, Basic Black
Ink:SU Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise, Taken with Teal, Cool Caribbean
Accessories:Versamark Marker, Going Grey Marker, Black marker, Silver Brads, Ribbon, Sponges, Clear embossing powder, heat gun

dsc04561.JPG

Colored the Cheetah in with a Going Grey marker.

dsc04562.JPG

Colored over the cheetah with a Versamark marker and heat embossed using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

dsc04563.JPG

dsc04564.JPG

Pictured below is the Stampendous Marble Texture Cube.  It has 3 sides to it.  To create a marble look with it.  You start with Side “A” and stamp your lightest color, over Stamp it with side “B” with your medium color and then finish with side “C” and your darkest color.

dsc04565.JPG

Over Stamped Cheetah with Side “A” and Cool Caribbean ink.

dsc04566.JPG

Over Stamped with Side “B” and Tempting Turquoise ink.

dsc04567.JPG

Over Stamped at the top with side “C” and Taken with Teal ink.

dsc04568.JPG

I wanted the background to blend a little more so I sponged Cool Caribbean ink all over the card stock, using a circular motion.

dsc04569.JPG

Sponged Taken with Teal at the top of the card stock.

dsc04570.JPG

Sponged Basic Black at the top and bottom of the card stock.

dsc04571.JPG

Stamped Marble Cube side “C” with Basic Black at the top of the card stock.

dsc04572.JPG

With the sponge I sponged black ink with I wiped it on my scrap paper until it was almost dry.  Then used it on my card-stock to soften the veins I just stamped.

dsc04573.JPG

Stamped Cube side “B” with Taken with Teal on a piece of Cool Caribbean card stock.

dsc04574.JPG

Stamped side “C” with Basic Black in at the top of the card stock.

Hope your day is cool and laid back.

Until my next post. . . . . . .

Fisherman’s Dream – MZ

dsc04523.JPG

This is the Father’s Day card I created for my husband this morning.   Nothing like waiting until the last moment to make a card, lol.  I hope he likes it.

I always find cards for men very challenging.  Probably 90% of the stamps I own are femine in nature.  I hang onto the Stampin’ Up sets for men even though they are retired to help with my selection of manly stamps on hand to chose from.

This card does not use any brayering.   Sponging seemed to be the way to go today.

Let’s get started.  🙂

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up Angler, Bronc Buster
Paper: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Apricot Appeal
Ink: Stampin’ Up Soft Sky, Apricot Appeal, Not Quite Navy & Basic Black, Palette Noir Black
Accessories: Prismacolor markers Light Olive Green, Cool Grey 20%, Deco Yellow, Avocado & Deco Peach, Versamark Marker, Fine Detail Clear embossing powder, heat gun, Stamp-a-ma-jig, White Gel Pen, Post it notes, Sponge, screw brads

dsc04527.JPG

On a 5.25″ x 5.25″ piece of Whisper White card stock I stamped a fish in each corner with Palette Noir Black ink, using my Stamp-a-ma-jig for placement.   I had to think about which way I wanted my card to go so I would not have any upside down fish.

dsc04495.JPG

dsc04496.JPG

Colored the fish with a Primsacolor Deco Yellow marker.

dsc04497.JPG

Colored the specked areas on the fish with a Prismacolor Avocado marker.

dsc04498.JPG

Colored a stripe on the center of the fish with a Prismacolor Deco Peach marker.

dsc04499.JPG

Went over the top part of the fish again with the Prismacolor Avocado marker to blend the stripe in.

dsc04500.JPG

Colored the tops and top of fins of the fish with a Prismacolor Light Olive Green marker.

dsc04501.JPG

Colored the fish with a Versamark marker and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

dsc04502.JPG

dsc04503.JPG

Sponged Soft Sky ink with a circular motion on the card stock.

dsc04504.JPG

Sponged Not Quite Navy ink on the card stock.

dsc04505.JPG

Stamped the flourish stamp twice at each corner of the card stock with Not Quite Navy ink.

dsc04506.JPG

For the main image panel I cut a 3.25″ x 3.25″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

dsc04507.JPG

Using post it notes as a mask, I masked about 1/3 of the card stock at angle.  Sponged on Soft Sky ink at the top leaving some white space about the post it notes.

dsc04508.JPG

Sponged Apricot Appeal ink below the Soft Sky ink.

dsc04509.JPG

Flipped the post it notes so they now mask the sky portion of the card stock.

dsc04510.JPG

Sponged Soft Sky ink in the water area.

dsc04511.JPG

Sponged on Not Quite Navy ink on the card stock right where the post it notes meets the card stock.

dsc04512.JPG

Removed post it notes.

dsc04513.JPG

Sponged some Not Quite Navy ink at the top of the sky area and around the entire edge of the card stock.

dsc04514.JPG

Using the Stamp a ma jig for placement, stamped the fishermen with Basic Black ink.

dsc04515.JPG

dsc04516.JPG

Added some Not Quite Navy ink with a spong below the boat.

dsc04517.JPG

Assembled card front and colored the boat and the men with a Prismacolor Cool Grey 20% marker to define them more.

dsc04518.JPG

Put in these great screw brads at right and left corners of the main image panel.

dsc04519.JPG

Add some White gel pen streaks in the water area.

dsc04521.JPG

Here is is finished.  🙂

dsc04523.JPG

Thanks for following along with this tutorial today.  Why don’t you give sponging a scene a try?

Have a Super, super Saturday!

Until my next post. . . . . .

ISC Ornament – Tutorial

dsc04491.JPG   dsc04493.JPG

I’m usually not a 3D project type person, but I’ve seen ornaments made out of squares before and thought I would give it a try with this great new image from Innovative Stamp Creations – Artsy Victorian Sheet that is being released today.   Here is the link to their online store:  http://www.innovativestampcreations.com/ischomepage.html

I have to say I’m very happy with the results of this project although the Beaders out there that read this blog will probably cringe when they see my beading.  Anyway, I did it my way, having no beading knowledge, lol.

Let’s get started with the tutorial.  🙂

Supplies:

Stamps: Innovative Stamp Creations – Artsy Victorian
Paper: Stampin’ Up Whisper White
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy
Accessories: Beads, Wire, Stampin’ Up Markers Tempting Turquoise & More Mustard, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat gun, Versamark Pad, Wire Cutter, Muse Token embellishment

Started out by stamping 5 images on Whisper White card stock using Brushed Corduroy Distress ink.  Note:  I used the distress ink because I like the color.  🙂

dsc04467.JPG

Colored part of the images with a Tempting Turquoise marker.

dsc04468.JPG

Colored part of the images with a More Mustard marker.

dsc04469.JPG

Cut the images out.

dsc04471.JPG

Made a score line from one corner to the other on all 5 of my squares using a Scorepal.

dsc04472.JPG

Rubbed my Versamark pad directly on top of my squares to cover them.

dsc04473.JPG

Covered the squares with Clear embossing powder and heat embossed them using a heat gun.

dsc04474.JPG

dsc04475.JPG

dsc04476.JPG

Used a Sharpie Gold Paint Marker and edged each piece all the way around.

dsc04477.JPG

Glued one half of the square to another until all where glue together, except for the last two.  Leave this open so you can put your wire.

dsc04478.JPG

dsc04479.JPG

dsc04481.JPG

Cut two lengths of wire and folded them in half together.  Twisted the top to create a loop.

dsc04483.JPG

dsc04484.JPG

Added a couple of beads to the top so the wire wouldn’t slide through my ornament.

I just slide a bead on, twisted the wire, slide another bead on, twisted the wire.

dsc04485.JPG

Put my wire in the un-glued opening and then glued it shut.

dsc04486.JPG

dsc04488.JPG

Added beads to the wire at the bottom.  Put a bead on twisted one strand of wire around the bottom of it, put another bead on and twisted a strand of wire around the bottom of it and so forth.  Ended with one of the new Tim Holtz idea-ology Muse Tokens embellishments.  This one says “Moments” on it.

Here is the finished ornament.

dsc04491.JPG    dsc04493.JPG

I hope you enjoyed this 3D project tutorial and will give it a try.

May your day be one of happiness and joy.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Artsy Victorian Sneak Peek – Tutorial

dsc04463.JPG

I wanted to show in my tutorial today how you can use just one stamp and make something that is beautiful and dramatic.  Of course, it helps to start with a beautiful image.  This one is a Sneak Peek image from Innovative Stamp Creations soon to be released Stamp Sheet “Artsy Victorian”.  This set with be release on June 13, 2008.  Here is a link to their online store:  http://www.innovativestampcreations.com/ischomepage.html

Let’s get going on the tutorial.  🙂

Supplies:

Stamps: Innovative Stamp Creations – Artsy Victorian
Paper: Stampin’ UP Whisper White, Orchid Opulence & Basic Black
Ink: Stampin’ Up Basic Black, Orchid Opulence, Tempting Turquoise & Elegant Eggplant, Adirondack Purple Twilight
Accessories: Versamark pad and marker, clear embossing powder, Sponge, Stamp-a-ma-jig

dsc04466.JPG

Stamped flourish, at a diagonal,  on Whisper White card stock by first loading the stamp with Versamark then Tempting Turquoise before stamping.   Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

dsc04451.JPG

I cropped the card stock at this point so the image would go all the way to the top and bottom of the card stock.

dsc04452.JPG

Colored the white card stock where it was showing through the  image with a Versamark marker and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder and a heat gun.  This step is necessary to retain the white in the image.

dsc04453.JPG

dsc04454.JPG

Using a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig for placement, over stamped the image with Purple Twilight ink just left of the original image to create a shadow.

dsc04455.JPG

dsc04456.JPG

Sponged Orchid Opulence in a circular motion all over the card stock.

dsc04457.JPG

Sponged Purple Twilight ink to the left side of the flourish using a circular motion.

dsc04458.JPG

Sponged Elegant Eggplant ink on the left side of the card stock, not completely covering the Purple Twilight ink.

dsc04459.JPG

Getting darker yet, sponged black ink at the left corners of the card stock.

Assembled card and here it is finished measuring 5.25″ x 5.25″.

dsc04463.JPG

Thanks so much for joining me today for this tutorial.  Give it a try.  I think you will be happy with the results.

Hope your day is on the light side of life. 🙂

Until my next post.. . . . . . .

ISC Thoughtfulness Sneak Peek – Tutorial

dsc04449.JPG

My tutorial today includes a sneak peek of two of the stamps that will be released by Innovative Stamp Creations on June 13, 2008.  The ladies face is from the stamp sheet “Thoughtfulness” and the flourish is from the stamp sheet “Artsy Victorian“.   Love them!

Here is a link to Innovative Stamp Creations online store:  http://www.innovativestampcreations.com/ischomepage.html

Let’s get started.  🙂

Supplies:

Stamps: Innovative Stamp Creations – Thoughtfulness & Artsy Victorian
Paper: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Apricot Appeal & Night of Navy
Ink: Stampin’ Up Black, Adirondack Denim, Stream, Aqua, Mountain Rose, Peach Bellini
Accessories: Brads, Black marker, White Gel Pen, Piercing Tool, Sponges, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Photo Corner Punch

dsc04450.JPG

Using a Stamp-a-ma-jig for place, stamped the Thoughtfulness face with Black ink on Whisper White card stock.

dsc04428.JPG

dsc04429.JPG

Sponged Peach Bellini ink on the image.  Heavier on the eye lids.

dsc04430.JPG

Sponged Mountain Rose on the the image, leaving the upper left side lighter.

dsc04431.JPG

Sponged Aqua ink over the remaining white area of the card stock and a little around the edges of the image.

dsc04432.JPG

Sponged Stream ink on, leaving a light area to the left of the image.

dsc04433.JPG

Continuing to get darker yet, sponged on Denim ink really getting dark on the right and bottom.

dsc04434.JPG

Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig again for placement, stamped the flourish with Denim ink around face.  How did we ever get along without flourishes!

dsc04435.JPG

dsc04436.JPG

Put in a shadow by tracing the side of the flourish that is furthest from the face with a black marker.

dsc04437.JPG

Highlighted the side of the flourish that is facing the face with a white gel pen.  Now this helps create depth.

dsc04438.JPG

Glued main image panel to a panel of Apricot Appeal.  Stamped more flourishes using Denim ink of both the bottom panel and the main panel.

dsc04439.JPG

Sponged on Stream ink over the bottom 1/3rd of the card stock.

dsc04440.JPG

Sponged Denim ink at the bottom of the card stock.

dsc04441.JPG

Added Punched Photo Corners and a bottom layer of Night of Navy Card stock.

dsc04442.JPG

Decided to accent the flourishes last stamped with a black marker and a white gel pen the same as I had done on the main image panel.

dsc04443.JPG

Using my piercing tool I added brads to the photo corners.

dsc04444.JPG

Here you have it the completed card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

Hope you enjoyed this sneak peek tutorial and will accent those flourishes the next time you stamp them.  I think it makes a huge difference.  What do you think?

May your day be one of peace and serenity.

Until my next post. . . . . . .

Natures Silhouettes – Tutorial

dsc04422.JPG

This card was created for SplitCoastStampers.com Color challenge today, CC170 in which we were challenged to use Regal Rose, Real Red and So Saffron.  Hmmmm, that’s a hard combination.  But I will give it a try.

The stamp used in today’s tutorial is by Innovative Stamp Creations from the Natures Silhouettes sheet.  Here is a link to their online store:  http://www.innovativestampcreations.com/ischomepage.html

Let’s get going on the tutorial.  🙂

Supplies:

Stamps: Innovative Stamp Creations – Nature Silhouettes II
Paper: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Real Red, Regal Rose

dsc04427.JPG

Stamped flower silhouette stamp on Whisper White card stock by first loading the stamp with Versamark and then So Saffron ink before stamping.

Note:  this stamp is an unmounted stamp, but I don’t own a large enough acrylic mount for it so I stuck it to the back of a large mounted stamp I have temporarily.

dsc04409.JPG

Heat embossed using fine detail clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

dsc04410.JPG

Punched from the sticky part of a post it note a 1 3/8 circle to use a mask for the moon.

dsc04411.JPG

Brayered on Regal Rose ink in the sky area, leaving some white card stock showing towards the bottom.

dsc04412.JPG

Brayered Real Red ink at the top of the card stock.

dsc04413.JPG

Used my Coluzzle to cut a curve in the right side of the card stock.

dsc04414.JPG

dsc04415.JPG

Colored the centers of a few of the flowers with a black marker.

dsc04416.JPG

Stamp the silhouette stamp with Regal Rose ink.

dsc04417.JPG

Wiped the ink from the embossed images with an old rag.

dsc04418.JPG

Used a Prismacolor Silver Paint marker to edge the card stock.

dsc04419.JPG

Sponged Real Red ink on a Regal Rose piece of card stock for one of the layers.

dsc04420.JPG

Assembled card front and used my piercing tools to do the piercing at the bottom, top and right side of the card front.

dsc04344.JPG

Missed taking this picture, but I took a white gel pen and accented some of the flourishes.  Now that makes them pop.  I also, make three white dots in each corner of the card stock.

Assembled the card and here it is finished measuring 5.25″ x 5.25″.
