Hello Stampers,

Check out my Winter version of this great owl image from Stampin’ Up’s Still Night Stamp set, #147670.  I kept the layout simple and without frills so the scene would be the main focus.

Trucking through the Snow

Hello Stampers!

Today’s project certainly reminds me of my down to earth hubby, Russ.  Russ drives a red Ford truck and wouldn’t trade it for anything.  He is so old school, that when he purchased it, he bought one without any bells and whistles.  It has no power anything.  Like no power windows and car locks.  I don’t know about you, but other than Russ’ truck I haven’t manually rolled down a car window in many, many years.  Heck, before he brought his truck home I didn’t know you could get a car without power windows and door locks any more, lol.

Seeing the truck in the Farmhouse Christmas stamp set made me certainly think of my husband, but also made me think of all the nostalgic creations I can make with it.  The way the tree is in the back of the truck it can easily be cut away so we can make wonderful cards all year long with this image.

Sweet Season – Stampin’ Up! Card

Sweet Season

Hello Stampers,

Question, are you a white lights person or multi-colored lights person?  I love the look of all white lights as an adult, but as a child multi-colored lights were my favorite.  Now that I think about it, I don’t think we had all white light back then.  We had the large bulb lights which had to be screwed in.  Also if you took one out the whole line went out.  I remember countless hours spent with my Dad screwing in bulbs and unscrewing bulbs.  It was all part of the our holiday season.  Now that my Dad has passed on that memory has turned into a fond one I would love to relive.

For my card today I wrapped white lights around the candy canes and gave them a bit of a glow.  Also, adding a shadow to the middle of the candy canes give them some a rounded look.  What a fun project!

Easy Homemade Pie Crust

With the holidays approaching quickly, we know it is BAKING SEASON!

I thought I would share a recipe for the yummiest pie crust.  This recipe makes  16 good sized crusts which you can put in your freezer and have on hand anytime you wish to make a sweet or savory pie.  I’m not kidding when I say it is yummy, you may have a friend who comes to see you each time they are in need of a pie crust wanting to shop in your freezer.   You will also be asked over and over for the recipe.

Don’t be scared by the size of this recipe it pulls together easy and the crusts will stay good for a very long time in your freezer.  Remember if you make double crust pies this is good for 8.  🙂  My favorite thing to make with this crust is cherry pie or chicken pot pie, mmmmmm.

Easy Homemade Pie Crust, makes 16

  • (1) 5 lb bag of all purpose flour (hold back 2 cups)
  • 4 Tbsp. Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. + 2 tps. Salt
  • (1) 3 lb can of vegetable shortening
  • 4 Tbsp. Vinegar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2 Cups Water
  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour (don’t forget to take out 2 cups and use it for something else)
  2. Add the sugar and saltDSC_0001
  3. Add the shortening and combine it with the flour mixture using a pastry cutter.
  4. In a separate bowl combine the Vinegar, Eggs and Water
  5. Add the liquid mixture to the flour mixture (take your jewelry off and mix it with your hands)DSC_0002
  6. Mix it all into a ball, cover with plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
  7. Divide Dough into 16 balls, wrap in plastic wrap and then put them into a 2 gallon freezer bag and in the freezer they go.DSC_0004
  8. To use, take a crust out of the freezer and put in the refrigerator over night.  It will be ready to use the next day.  🙂

Here in my neck of the woods we had our first dusting of snow which put me in the mood to create this blustery wintery scene for my card today.  You know it’s really cold and the wind is really blowing when the snowflakes get stuck in the snow. 🙂    But it makes for a beautiful Winter scene using the limited time offer, Snow is Glistening stamps and dies (see bottom of post for the details).
