Hello There,

I keep getting reminded that I haven’t given a chicken update in a while.   My girls are doing great.  They have moved to a 10′ x 10′ coop with a 10′ x 20′ run, equipped with a play area and spa, lol.

I laugh but here they are showing off their tail feathers.  Actually this is what they typically do when you go to take their picture.  Nice right?  Chicken butts are at least cute.

Today while I was hanging out with them, Buffy decided she would like to take a little photo shoot with me.

You see Buffy sneaking up to chase Red out of the scene.

Now which side is my good side, hmmmmm.. . . . Left, right, head tilted to hide my waddle?  If I stand a little sideways I look slimmer. . . .

Buffy is the top chicken around here.  Get out of line and she will peck you on the head.   She is also the one that everyone wants to cuddle up with at night.   That’s how I raised my sons so I guess she is a lot like me, lol.

Now about that spa that I mentioned.  The chicken spa is pictured above in the background.  That black tub is their dirt bath container.  Yep, chickens take dirt baths and it’s a site to see.  I’ll have to catch them at it some day with the camera.  Never mind Luke in the very background digging a hole to China.   Caught ya Luke!  The grass must be greener on the other side of the fence.

As for me today, this is what I have really been up to. . . . . . . Baking!

Good thing sweet breads freeze well.  Because when you have a bunch of ripe bananas and a bowl of shredded zucchini what else are you going to do, but make 3 large loaves of Chocolate Zucchini Bread, 2 Large loaves and 4 small loaves of Banana Zucchini Bread and two large loaves of Pineapple Zucchini bread.

It was a productive morning, this bowl of shredded Zucchini no longer exists and my neighbors don’t have to dodge me today when they see me coming with yet another zucchini to give away.

On another note, over the weekend I got quite the surprise at our family cookout.  My Brother-n-laws and my nephew decided to poke some fun at my love of raising chickens.  Get a load of these characters.  They came running out together doing a  bit of crowing and arm flapping.  I think they will make a great addition to our coop.  What do you think?

Magnificent Maple – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #629

Hey There,

Having my new Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog in hand inspired me to stamp this card with an Autumn flavor.  I love using Gold and Silver in my Autumn creations so I put those colors up front an center in this creation.  You can find the new Encore Gold and Silver pads along with the Magnificent Maple stamp in the new Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog.

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .
Project Supplies:
Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Magnificent Maple (item 131868) and Lacy & Lovely (item 122887)
Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Basic Black and Whisper White
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Always Artichoke, Stazon Jet Black and Encore Gold and Silver Pads
Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Sponges, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Dazzle Gold Marker, Clear Embossing Powder and Heat Gun

 

Stamped the Magnificent Maple stamp once in Gold and once in Silver on a 4.5″ square piece of Whisper White and then heat embossed them using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Sponged Old Olive ink over the card stock using a circular motion.

Stamped the leaf again using Always Artichoke ink all over the card stock.  Wiped the ink off of the embossed images using a paper towel.

Used the Gold Stampin’ Dazzle marker on the edges of the card stock.

 

Sponged Pumpkin Pie ink in the leaves.

Stamped the “Hello” sentiment from the Lacy & Lovely Stamp set using Stazon Jet Black ink.

 

Added a 5.5″ square Cajun Craze card base and 4 Old Olive 1.25″ squares.

Also added a 4.75″ Basic Black panel.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.5″ square.

Hey there,

Awe, it’s one of those days. . . . . . .

This morning I woke bright and early (4 a.m.) and started working on today’s tutorial.  Got almost all the way through this project and the battery pooped out on my camera.  So, I switch and started taking the rest of the project pictures on another camera.  Feeling good that I was able to get all the shots, I load the first camera pictures on my computer and then load the second camera pictures.  Guess what, the second camera loading wiped out the first camera pictures since I used the same file name,   Grrrrrrrr!  Oh well, what do you do, smile and go on.

Anyhow, so sorry, no tutorial for today.  Here is the project though and the supply list.

Cycle Celebration 3 – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #626

Hey There,

I had a very special birthday card to make.  We are celebrating my Grand Daughter, Hailie Jade’s 10th birthday this week.  I don’t know what happened, but I’m pretty sure she was just born yesterday, YIKES!  Time flies. . . . . . .

I made Hailie’s card using the Stampin’ Up! Cycle Celebration stamp set.  The candle in this set can be made to look very realistic and I put a warm glow around the flame.  Check out my tutorial for this project below and let me know what you think.

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .
Project Supplies:
Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Cycle Celebration (130273) and Sentiment inside the card is from You’re Amazing (126722)
Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry and Crushed Curry
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Rich Razzelberry, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and Old Olive
Accessories: Stampin’ Up!  Sponges, Circle punches 1 3/8″ and 1 1/4″, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Big Shot Machine, Tasteful Trims Die, Timeless Type Dies (retired), Stampin’ Write Markers (Summer Starfruit, Rich Razzelberry, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive), Versamarker and Versamark Pad, White Gel Pen, Post it note and Daffodil Delight Grosgrain Stitched Ribbon

Started with a 3.75″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White card stock and stamped the candle by loading it with Versamark and then Rich Razzelberry ink on the candle portion and then Crushed Curry on the flame portion.  Huffed my breath on the stamp and then stamped it.

Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Colored the candle with Old Olive and Flame with Daffodil Delight with Crushed Curry at the bottom of the flame.

Colored over the image with Versamarker (staying inside the lines) and then heat embossed the image so the entire image is embossed.

Masked a rectangle at the bottom of the card stock using a partial post it note.

Put on a 1 3/8″ circle mask and then sponged So Saffron ink over the entire unmasked area.

Removed the 1 3/8″ circle mask and added a 1 1/4″ circle mask and then sponged Crushed Curry in the white area going into the So Saffron just a bit.

Removed the circle mask and sponged Pumpkin Pie ink in the white area going into the Crushed Curry area just a bit.  Also, sponged some Pumpkin Pie ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Removed the rectangle mask and sponged So Saffron in the white area.  Added a bit of Crushed Curry marker at the base of the candle to create a shadow.

 

Added Old Olive, Rich Razzelberry and Crushed Curry panels.  Also added a Whisper White card base and Daffodil Delight ribbon and a large scallop strip of Rich Razzelberry  and the number 10 out of Old Olive that I die cut on the Big Shot Machine.   Highlighted the flame and added dots on the scallops using a White Gel Pen.

To finish it off I added a shadow of Crushed Curry marker under the numbers.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

I also added Rich Razzelberry and Whisper White card stock panels to the inside of the card.  The card front is heavy with a whopping 9 layers so I needed to put panels on the inside to balance it out a bit.  I used the Birthday stamp from the Stampin’ Up! set You’re Amazing for my sentiment in side.
