Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up!  Raining Flowers (item #122767)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Old Olive, River Rock and Designer Series Paper from the Stampin’ Up! Neutrals Collection (item number 117157)

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, More Mustard and StazOn Jet Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponges, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Silver Brads, Lucky Limeade Marker, Versamarker, Old Olive Ribbon, Large scallop punch, 1 1/4″ scallop punch, 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, Clear Embossing Powder and Heat Gun

Stamped the plant on a 3″ x 4.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Colored the leaves in using a Lucky Limeade marker.

Over stamped the leaves stamp using Old Olive ink.  I love two step stamping, so easy.

Let the image dry completely and then colored over the leaves using a Versamarker and then heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Punched a 2 1/2″ circle punch out of a scrap piece of card stock.

Used the negative part of the card stock as a mask to create the sun.  Sponged Daffodil Delight ink in the circle and More Mustard ink around the edge.

Mask the sun using the circle punch and sponged stripes of Daffodil Delight ink around the sun.

Punched a small and large scallop punch out of scrap paper.

Used the scallops to create the clouds by sponging Tempting Turquoise ink around parts of them.

Darkened the Sun Rays with Daffodil Delight ink and the circle mask.

Added an Old Olive panel and silver brads.

Added an additional Old Olive panel, DSP and Old Olive ribbon.

Finished the card by adding a River Rock card base.  Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be filled with sunshine.

Blog Candy Winner and Chick Talk

Hey There,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  Mine was terrific.  Saturday Russ and I worked out in the yard long enough to make our bodies completely sore.  You know the weekend warrior syndrome.

I spent yesterday with my Daughter-n-law, Jamie and my two sons, Jesse & Mitch and, of course, my wonderful husband Russ.  Fun times, since we are all characters and love to laugh.

Now I’m going to turn the show over to Buffy and let her give the blog candy away and tell you a bit about a chicken’s day here at the Zindorf zoo.   Take it away Buffy!

Bock, bock, the winner of the Amazing Family stamp set is. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Judith Wibholm, who wrote “Enter my name in the drawing. I’ve been looking at that stamp set for quite awhile. Would be a great one to use in stamping.”

Judith, congrats!  Please claim your prize by e-mailing your shipping address to mzindorf@aim.com within 30 days.

Thanks everyone for playing along!

Now about me, Buffy.  I’m a Buff Orpington hen and I’m top in the pecking order around here.  It’s my job to keep everyone in line.

Mom caught me making her breakfast about noonish.  I lay wonderful large brown eggs.

After laying I notice a fresh dirt batch in front of the barn doors.  I was the first one to find it and run to it.

It wasn’t but a moment and my Sister hens joined me.  They knew I found something great.

The first one to find a worm wins, scratch, scratch.

After some needed protein I settle down to stroll the yard, bother the dog, etc., etc.  Mainly, I just peck and walk, peck and walk.

May your day be filled with all the things you love.

Hugs,

Buffy and

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up!  Serene Silhouettes (item #127322), Daydream Medallions (item #126467)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Basic Black, Soft Suede and Cajun Craze

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Cajun Craze, Bashful Blue, Calypso Coral and Stazon Jet Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponges, Brayer, Brads, Framlits – Floral Frames (item #127012), Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Big Shot Machine, 2 1/2″ circle punch, Word Window Punch, Post it notes, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Started with a 3.5″ Whisper White card stock square and brayered Bashful Blue ink at the top and Calypso Coral ink on the bottom.

Ripped a mountain shape in a post it note and used it as a mask.  Sponged Bashful Blue ink in the mountain shape.

Drug my Cajun Craze ink pad along the bottom of the card stock to create the ground area.

Stamped the trees using Stazon Jet Black ink.

Sponged the black ink along the bottom of the card stock.

Punch the image out using a 2.5″ circle punch.

Sponged black ink around the edge of the card stock.

Stamped the Medallion using Black ink on Soft Suede card stock.

Die cut the medallion using the Floral Frames Framelit and the Big Shot Machine.

Sponged Cajun Craze ink around the edges of the card stock.  The Cajun Craze ink on Soft Suede card stock give a great old rust look.

Cut a 4.25″ square out of Cajun Craze Card stock and ran it through the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.

Cut a 4.75″ Soft Suede panel and sponge Cajun Craze on the edges.

Punched 4 Basic Black Word Windows and held them together and cut one end off.

Added a 5.5″ Basic Black card stock panel.  Popped the main image panel up using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Added the word window punches and brads.  The added a 5.5″ x 11″ Whisper White card base.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.5″.

May you have a peaceful day.

Dapper Watches – Stampin’ Up! Tutorial #586

Hello There,

Don’t you just love that you can create a card that captures some one’s personality using your stamps.

For instance, my youngest son, Mitch (Officer VanHoose to most) is quite the fashion bug and has a Fossil watch to match every outfit he wears.  Unlike his mother, who wears the same jewelry each and everyday, lol.   Mitch even has a watch case to show off his large collection.  I wonder who he got the collecting bug from, hmmmmmm.

Anyhow, this card is for Mitch’s 30th birthday that is coming up.  I’m safe to post this card prior to his birthday on my blog since he doesn’t read it, lol.  If I want my son’s to see something I have to put it on face book, text it to them, etc.   Sound familiar to you?

Now, if you know Mitch, mums the word!

Today’s card tutorial features the emboss resist technique, shadows for depth and a brayered background.   The watch is a stamp from the Stampin’ Up! set, Dapper Dad (item number 129198). It’s in the fabulous Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog.

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up!  Dappler Dad

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Soft Suede and Brushed Gold

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Soft Suede and Early Espresso.  Also used is Encore Gold and Silver inks.

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Brayer, Sponge, Soft Suede Marker, Brass brads, clear embossing powder, heat gun, Versamarker and Stampin’ Dimensionals

Stamped on a 2.5″ x 7″ piece of whisper white card stock 3 watches using Encore Silver, Encore Gold and Stampin’ Up! Craft Basic Black inks.  Heat embossed each watch after stamping it using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Colored over the black watch with a Versamarker and heat embossed it again to protect the white of the paper in the image. Note, I did this only to the Black watch.

Brayered Crumb Cake ink all over the card stock.

Masked the wall portion of the scene using two post it notes and then brayered Soft Suede ink in the unmasked area.

Removed the post it notes and carefully wiped the ink off of the embossed images using a paper towel.

Colored over the gold and silver watches using a Soft Suede marker to turn the white in the designs to Soft Suede.   Carefully wiped any marker off of the embossed images.  Be careful not to smear the marker onto your background.

Placed a Post it note under the edge of the watches and sponged a shadow using Early Espresso ink.

Layered the main image panel with Soft Suede, Brushed Gold and then Soft Suede.   Before adhering, added brass brads to the main image panel.  Also, added a Whisper White card base.

Here is the finished card measuring 4″ x 9″.

May your creations make someone feel extra special.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Introducing Photopolymer by Stampin’ Up!

Always wanted to be a graphic designer?  My favorite part about design is typography. I adore type. There’s just something inherently beautiful about letterforms and what happens when you stack them to create different shapes and combine them to say different things.  So without further adieu, let me introduce you to the Designer Typeset Stamp Set. It’s based around a really great san serif font that will work well on just about any project. And then there are embellishments and shapes to take whatever you want to say to the next level. The possibilities are seriously endless.

I’ll admit, once you start playing around with the stamp set, you will have a hard time stopping!

But before we get too carried away, let’s get to talking about the benefits of photopolymer stamps. For those who are unfamiliar, let me point out a couple of things that are really cool.

First, they’re completely clear, making it oh-so-easy to stamp exactly where you want. They come unmounted, on an acetate sheet, and temporarily adhere to our clear blocks. Awesome!

Second, they are pliable. Want your arrow to shoot a certain way? No problem! Want your banner to have the perfect sag? Easy peasy! Being able to play with the shape gives you even more creative freedom.

So let’s get down to the nitty gritty. The Designer Typeset Stamp Sets in the online store starting now. So just click HERE to order yours today!

By the Seashore and Tide – Stampin’ Up Card Tutorial #581

Hello There,

I woke up this morning to a layer of ice covering everything outside.  I thought with the ice age going on outside I would stay snug in my craftroom and stamp something totally not winter related, lol.

Today’s card tutorial, below, features the emboss resist technique and two Stampin’ Up! ocean related sets By the Tide and By the Seashore.  These sets work great together.

********************************************

I’ve added this card to my sales page where you will also find some great deals on retired stamp sets.  CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Here Fishy Fishy – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial #573

Oh Happy Day!  It’s Saturday and I am not cleaning house, woohoo!  Instead I got to stamp for a while and bring you another tutorial.

By the way, I want to thank those of you that have commented on my projects.  It means the world to me to hear what you think of them.   It also, let’s me know what you enjoy seeing and if I’m on the right track here.  So thank you, thank you, thank you.

I also want to thank those of you that are my Stampin’ Up! customers, you are the reason I put so much effort into my projects and make as many tutorials as I possibly can.   I cannot thank you, my valued customers enough.  I would not be able to have the projects I do on my blog if it were not for your support.   You are the best!  With all my heart, THANK YOU!

Now, about today’s project.  I created this card using Stampin’ Up! set “By the Tide”.  My favorite set from the Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog.    I’m a sucker for beautiful fine line nature stamps.  Just cannot get enough of them.

I used the emboss resist technique with gives you a more painting like effect than if you where to color and cut out the images and adhere them on your card stock.  The fish are part of the scene not on top of the scene.  Clear as mud?  LOL

I hope you hang out a few moments and check out my tutorial below and better yet, give it a try.

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies: Stampin’ Up! By the Tide (item# 129120)

Stamps:  Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Pool Party, Island Indigo and Basic Black

Ink: Stampin’ Up! River Rock, Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze, Pool Party, Island Indigo and Midnight Muse

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! sponges, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Versamark Pad, Brayer, Clear Circle Die, Circle Scallop Die, Linen Thread, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Banner Punch, Versamarker, Certainly Celery, Lucky Limeade, More Mustard, So Saffron and Pool Party Markers, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Big Shot Machine and Post it notes.

Started by Die cutting the Scallop Circle Die from Basic Black card stock and the Clear Circle Die from Whisper White card stock using the Big Shot Machine.

Stamped two fish by loading my stamp with Versmark and then with Always Artichoke ink before stamping it on the card stock.

Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Colored the fish’s stomachs with a So Saffron Marker and added More Mustard marker at the bottom.  I then blended the two colors using the So Saffron marker.

Added Pool Party Marker right above the So Saffron.

Colored the rest of the fish in with a Certainly Celery marker and then added Lucky Limeade marker to the green dark areas.   Let the markers dry before continuing.

Colored over the fish (stay inside of the embossed image) using a Versamarker.  Heat embossed both fish using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Stamped the plant by loading the image with Versamarker and then Cajun Craze ink and then stamped it.  Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder.  Don’t worry that the plant is on top of the fish it with melt off when you heat it.

Ripped a post it note and masked the bottom sandy area.

Brayered Pool Party ink in the unmasked area.

Brayered Island Indigo ink.

Brayered Midnight Muse ink.

Lightly wiped the ink off of my embossed images with a paper towel.

Removed the post it note mask and sponged River Rock ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Sponged Midnight Muse ink on the edge of the card stock.

Cut a 5.25″ square piece of Pool Party card stock and sponged Island Indigo ink around the edge leaving a circle of card stock showing in the middle.

Sponged Midnight muse ink around the edge, not covering the Island Indigo ink entirely.

Punched 2 triangles with Basic Black card stock and 2 triangles with Pool Party card stock.  Also, cut a 1.5″ x 5.25″ piece of Basic Black card stock and 1/2″ x 5.25″ piece of Island Indigo card stock.

Embossed all the pieces using the Square Lattice Embossing folder and Big Shot machine except for the Basic Black triangles.

Added a 5.5″ square piece of Basic Black card stock and the embossed strips and Basic Black triangles.

Held the two Pool Party triangles together and cut 1/4″ off  of the bottom.  Adhered them to the top of the Black triangles.  Wrapped Linen Thread around the middle 5 times and added the scallop circle and main image circle using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Lastly, added a 5.5″ x 11″ Whisper White card base.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.5″ square.

May you be rejuvenated this weekend.

Until my next post. . . . . .
