Three Little Dragonflies – Stampin’ Up! Card

Hello Stampers,

Dragonflies are so beautiful and fun to color. You can treat them almost like you do when you color butterflies, every color of the rainbow.  I’ve never seen dragonflies that look like the ones I colored today but it’s okay, I have an artistic license to color them any way I want to, right?

In reality, I have a love hate relationship with dragonflies.  They seriously freak me out when they visit me when I’m gardening.  They are loud and big!  I never see them on our property otherwise.  I’m assuming they are just saying hello or maybe I’m stirring up some of their favorite bugs to eat?

Anyhow, I created this nice big card.  It’s 4″ x 9″ and fits perfect in a 10# size office envelope which you can pick up anywhere and cheap too!  This size card makes a statement for sure.

Hello Stampers,

Want to send someone a card full of good wishes?  I have the perfect stamp set for that!  It’s the Stampin’ Up! Dandelion Wishes Set.

Mystical Evening – Stampin’ Up! Card

Hello Stampers,

I know there are a lot of stampers out there that love, love, love card layouts with lots of layers and embellishments but, sometimes that look can really take away from the main image panel you created.

Today’s card for example, I tried a few layout ideas and then stripped the extra layers and embellishments away and just came back to a clean looking layout and that made my main image panel stand out a great deal more.  Even the ribbon was changed a couple of times from a heavier ribbon to this light tulle ribbon.  You have to admit, the main panel really is eye catching without all the fluff, right?

Hello Stampers,

I’m in such good spirits today.  The sun is shining, temperatures will reach 52 degrees, snow is melting, the girls (hens) are out of their coop pecking around and I just checked on the other girls (honey bees) and they made it through the below zero weather, no problem.  Whoohoo!  Gotta love those Northern bees.

If you are wondering why I am calling my honey bees girls too, it’s because all of the worker bees are female.  There are male bees during the warmer months but they all get kicked out of the hive  to die when cold weather is approaching because all they do is lay around and eat the honey stores which is the food to get them through the winter months.  Crazy right?  Don’t worry, the queen will lay more male eggs come Spring.  There is your bee lesson for today, whether you wanted it or not, lol.

Frosted Chickens – Nope, Not a New Dinner

It’s early morning and I made a trip out to the coop to take care of the girls needs.  You know, water, food and treats.   I live in Ohio so, right now, there is snow, lots of frost and thick fog this morning.  It can be pretty but the girls don’t particularly like it.  A handful of the them ventured out to ask me for treats as I entered their yard.  Yep, they have their own yard, own chicken run and large coop.  They are all princesses and don’t like snow on their feet.

All of my white girls are current brown since we had lots of rain before the big freeze hit us this week and their entire yard was mud for days.  So, these princesses are due a good royal bath.  Which they will get when the temps rise and they stand out in the warm rain, lol.

Treat time!  Cracked corn is the treat of the day and it warms their little bodies up.  They get this treat on a fresh shoveled bit of earth, not on a bed of lettuce, lol.

Temperature inside the coop this morning.

This girl does have two legs.  Chickens will tuck one of their legs at a time up in their feathers to keep it warm when they are standing.

They are still laying, mmmm breakfast time!

I’m showing you this picture of my two hives so when you see these northern bees in my later posts this Spring you will know just how amazing they are.

Also, I do take care of the local birds.  Russ probably would wish I didn’t put a big honking bird feeder contraption on our deck but I love to watch the birds during these cold Winter days.  Of course, there is not one bird in this photo because I am standing out there taking photos, lol.  Normally there are at least 30 birds or more out there at any given time.  I probably  spend more money on their feed than I do the people in this house.

Not such a pretty picture right now but I’m keeping it real for you all.  🙂  I have issues.
