Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stampin’ Up! Stamps: Rain or Shine (item#126777), Spring Sampler (item#125512), That’s the Ticket (item#128075)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Basic Gray, Sahara Sand and Real Red

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponge, Gold Brads, Corrugator tool, Color Spritzer, Ticket Punch, Soft Suede Marker

Smeared Tempting Turquoise ink directly across the a 3″ x 6″ piece of Whisper White card stock using the ink pad.

Using more pressure on the ink pad, smeared more Tempting Turquoise on the card stock creating the water.

Ran a piece of Crumb Cake card stock through the corrugator and then tore it to use as the sand.

Using the Color Spritzer and a Soft Suede Marker, made little dots all over the Crumb Cake card stock.

Stamped the umbrella using Real Red ink and adhered the Crumb Cake card stock to the bottom of the main image panel.

Stamped the umbrella pole using Soft Suede ink.  Darkened it using a Soft Suede maker.

Sponged Soft Suede ink at the bottom of the sand area.

Stamped the sentiment using Soft Suede ink.

Smeared Sahara Sand ink in the top left corner of the card stock.

Smeared Basic Gray ink at the top left corner, not covering the Sahara Sand ink entirely.

Smeared Whisper White ink in the top left corner not covering the Basic Gray ink entirely.

Added a little hill at the pole base using a Soft Suede Marker.

Sponged a dark spot under the umbrella using Soft Suede ink.

Stamped 4 tickets on Crumb Cake card stock using Crumb Cake ink.  Then punched them out using the ticket punch.

Stamped an umbrella on each ticket using Soft Suede ink.

Adhered the main image panel to a 3.5″ x 6.5″ Soft Suede panel.  Added the tickets and gold brads.  Adhered the card front to a Whisper White card base.

Here is the finished project measuring 3.5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be filled with nothing but sunshine!

I’m heading out to dig a path in the snow to a grassy area for the chickens to hang out in.  Poor girls have been cooped up in their chicken run for over a week.   They love some grass to peck around in.

Two Seahorses – Tutorial #558

Hello There and Happy New Year!

I’m refreshed after having a week of down time.  My holidays were wonderful since I got to spend them with loved ones.  That’s the very best kind of holiday in my opinion.

During my week of serenity my Stampin’ Up! Spring Mini Catalog pre-order arrived, so I spent some time just cooking up in my mind some projects.  Now it is time to put them on paper.   Take note of the stamp set I used today, By The Tide (item number 129120).   This will be available starting tomorrow January 3, 2013 through May 31, 2013.   Awesome stamp set!

My project was done using the Direct to Paper technique.  Hang out a while and check it out.

****************************************

Now on with today’s tutorial. . . . .  . .

Project Supplies:

Stampin’ Up! Stamps: By the Tide (item number 129120)

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Calypso Coral and River Rock

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Soft Suede, Calypso Coral, River Rock and Pool Party

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponge, Pool Party Ribbon, Color Spritzer, Soft Suede, Calypso Coral and Blush Blossom Markers, Stampin’ Dimensionals

*******************************************

Start with a 3.25″ square piece of Whisper White Card Stock.  Smear Pool Party ink left to right over the top portion of the card stock using the ink pad.

Smear River Rock ink from left to right using the ink pad on the bottom portion of the card stock.

Stamped the plant using River Rock ink.  I used a light color so this plant would appear to be in the background.

Stamped two seahorses using Soft Suede ink.

Added ink to the very end of my River Rock ink pad and then smeared the ink pad across the bottom of the card stock to create another level of sand.

Using the Color Spritzer Tool and a Soft Suede marker, spritzed dots over the sand area.

Put a Calypso Coral line down the seahorses backs and then colored the whole seahorses in using a Blush Blossom marker.  This blended the Calypso Coral some.

Added a bit more Calypso Coral marker to the very back of the seahorses and to their gil on their head.

Stamped another plant using Calypso Coral ink.

Cut a 5″ square piece of River Rock card stock and stamped the writing stamp using Calypso Coral ink down the left side of the card stock.  Not sure why the color is off on this photo, sorry.

Sponged Soft Suede ink around the edges of the main image panel and River Rock panel.

Added a 5.25″ Calypso Coral Card base and a 3.5″ square Calypso Coral panel underneith the main image panel.  Also added a Pool Party ribbon.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.25″ square.

May your day be sunshine and friends.

Lost Mittens – Tutorial #556

Hey There,

I have a mitten card for you today.   This one goes together a bit quicker than most of my creations so it’s a great one to mass produce.  Check out the tutorial below.

This card brought to mind my oldest son, Jesse.  When he was 13 he had a problem with losing his gloves (many, many pairs) so my husband, Russ bet Jess $100 that he would not still have his gloves at the end of the winter.   Well Jesse, being the smart boy that he was, put his gloves in a safe place and didn’t wear them all Winter so he could produce them when asked just to win the bet, lol.

Project Supplies:

Stampin’ Up! Stamps: Everything Eleanor and Lovely as a Tree

Card Stock: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White and Marina Mist

Ink: Stampin’ Up! Marina Mist, Midnight Muse ad Basic Gray

Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Midnight Muse Marker, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Midnight Muse Ribbon

Are you getting inspiration from this blog?   One way you can help support it is to order your Stampin’ Up products through me.   Click HERE to place an order and have your order delivered directly to your door step from Stampin’ Up!

Started with a 3.5″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  Smeared Marina Mist ink on the card stock.  This is called the Direct to Paper Technique.

You don’t want even coverage here and you want to leave 1/3rd of the card stock at the bottom with no color.

Smeared Midnight Muse ink on the left side of the sky area.

Smeared Basic Gray ink at the top of the card stock.

Folded two paper towels and wet them. Put them on a pie plate and used them as my stamp pad to stamp the Everything Eleanor flourish with water.  This lifts some of the color from the card stock and reveals the design.

Loaded just the tree portion of the Lovely as a Tree stamp with Midnight Muse ink and stamped it.   Pulled the trunks down to the snow area using a Midnight Muse marker.

Added a Marina Mist panel, Midnight Muse Ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Whisper White Panel and a Marina Mist card stock base.

Here is the finished card measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″.

Well I spent the last four days traveling to and teaching in Sacramento, California.  Met some super, super stampers and had a blast teaching as usual.  Now I’m back in my stamp room and I feel the Autumn season pulling at me creatively.  So today’s tutorial makes use of a beautiful leaf stamp image from from the Stampin’ Up! set French Foliage.   Also, images from the Stampin’ Up! sets Everything Eleanor and Affection Collection.

The background is done with the Direct to Paper technique.  I love to smear ink!

The full tutorial is below for this project.  Grab your favorite beverage sit back and give it a look and then give it a try.

Before I went on my last trip I cleared out my tomato vegatable bed before the frost got to the tomatoes that were left on the plants.

Now I have a large table covered in newspaper that has many, many green tomatoes on it rippening in front of a bright window.  As they rippen I will pop them in a freezer bag and into the freezer to make sauce out of when I get the time.  Anyone else do this or is it just me?

Also, while I was away we were blessed with the first two eggs from our hens.  Wooohoooo!

Direct to Paper Tree – Tutorial #507

Hey There,

I have a little direct to paper project for you today.  This card is one that I used for my Stampin’ Up! Disney Trip swap, plus my customers have received it for a thank you this month.

The Direct to Paper Technique is done by taking an ink pad and directly applying the ink to the paper with it.    This is a very free form technique and no two pieces will look just a like.   One thing to remember when working with this technique is to leave some of the light paper showing through.  This adds sparkle to your piece.

Reminders before I start the tutorial:

The Stampin’ Up retired stamp and retired accessory lists are out.  Hop on over to my Stampin’ Up! sales page to check it out.  Once the products are gone, there gone!

. . .  . Check out what’s going, going, going by clicking here.

Started with a 3.5″ x 4.25″ piece of Whisper White Card Stock.  Punched a 1 3/4″ circle from the sticky part of a post it note and used it as a mask for the moon.

Swiped the Pink Pirouette ink pad across the card stock from Left to Right using a light hand.

Swiped the Regal Rose ink pad across the card stock from Left to Right using a light hand.

Sponged Pink Pirouette ink around the edge of the moon mask to darken it and get rid of any ghost line.

Removed the moon mask and sponged Regal Rose in the middle of the moon.

Stamped the Flourish using Regal Rose ink.  (The flourish is from a Stampin’ Up! set that will be out in the up and coming new Annual Catalog on June 1, 2012).

Stamped the Lovely As a Tree Pine using Basic Black Ink.

Sponged Basic Black ink at the bottom of the card stock using a bouncing motion.  Also distressed the edges of the card stock using Basic Black ink and a sponge.

Added a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of Basic Black card stock and a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Pink Pirouette card stock.  Ran the Pink Pirouette card stock through the corrugator.

Add Basic Black Dotted ribbon.

Added Silver Brads and a Whisper White Base Card.

Here is the finished project measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″.

Note if you wish to step this card up try using a corner rounder on the main image panel corners and highlight the flourish and tree using a white gel pen.  🙂

May your day be over flowing with joy!

Arrow Through The Heart – Tutorial #480 And The December Customer Gift Give Away

Happy New Year!!!   I hope your holiday was one to remember.   Mine was spent at home with Russ safe and sound in our little home.   We watched the ball go down in New York from our sofa here in Ohio.    I know, party animals, right, lol.

As I started the 1st day of this year, my mind went to the next holiday I will need cards for, Valentine’s Day.   Creating a Valentine’s Day card also gave me an excuse to give a little sneak peek of a couple of stamps you will find in the upcoming Stampin’ Up Occasions Mini Catalog from the stamp set P.S. I Love You.   Wonderful set and perfect to make cards for the one’s you love.

The tutorial below features a background made using plastic wrap and ink.  With a little masking you can also learn how to make an object recede in your scene.  Check out the heart.  It is not a cut out.   Team that heart with a cupid image and some white clouds and you have an out of this world Valentine.

FYI, The Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini catalog will be in effect January 4 – April 30, 2012.   My current Stampin’ Up! customers will receive this mini catalog automatically from me.  If you would like an Occasions Mini Catalog, please e-mail your address to: mzindorf@aim.com and I will get one in the mail to you.   You won’t want to miss out on the exceptionally wonderful things in this mini!   If you have ordered from me in the past year and have not received your mini catalog, please e-mail me.

Before the tutorial I have an announcement to make!

Using the edge of a Peach Parfait ink pad, applied the ink in a swiping motion on a 3″ x 4.25″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

Using a crumpled up piece of plastic wrap, dabbed Cajun Craze ink on the card stock.

Applied Baja Breeze ink on the card stock using the crumpled plastic wrap.

Punched a heart out of the sticky part of a post it note and used it as a mask to create the heart.

Rubbed the Peach Parfait ink pad all over the card stock.

Sponged Cajun Craze ink around the edge of the heart mask.

Removed the heart mask.

Punched another heart from a post it note, this time from the center.  Put the negative piece on so the heart on the card stock shows through the post it note heart.  Sponge Tempting Turquoise around the edge of the heart shape.

Remove the mask and sponge Cherry Cobbler ink around the edge of the card stock.

Stamped the cupid stamp using Basic Black ink.

Added white gel pen to the cupids wings.

Sponged Whisper White ink on to create a cloud.

Added 2 Basic Black card stock panels and one Baja Breeze panel.   Stamped the sentiment using Whisper White ink.

Extended the cloud to the left side of the background panels.

Added Pumpkin Pie ribbon and Pumpkin Pie brads.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your new year be filled with the ones you love, good health and prosperity.

Gently Falling – Tutorial #452

Hey All,

Are you ready for Autumn?  I think I am.   I find myself eyeing those sweaters in the dresser.   I’m always glad to get them out.  There is something comforting about them.   Sweaters are like old friends, don’t you think?    But, some of you are still in sweltering hot weather.  You will be the people rubbing it in when we are trudging through snow in the  winter, lol.   Here in Ohio, we are starting to see a bit of yellow in those green leaves on the trees.  Our maples will be bright yellow, orange and red in no time.   Leaf peeping season is not to far away, grin. . . .

Die cut from Whisper White card stock a Top Note using the Big Shot Die Cut Machine.

Starting from the edge of the card stock with the pad upside down and using circular motions added River Rock ink to the top note.

Starting from the edge of the card stock with the pad upside down and using circular motions added Marina Mist ink to the top note.

Starting from the edge of the card stock with the pad upside down and using circular motions added Soft Suede ink to the top note.

Using the Color Spritzer and a Soft Suede marker added speckles to the card stock.

Stamped the leaf using Soft Suede ink and stamping off once on my scrap paper (Second Generation stamping).

Using the fine point of a Basic Black marker, outlined just pieces of the leaves.

Loaded the leave stamp with So Saffron, patted a bit of Cajun Craze and Cherry Cobbler ink on the stamp.  Stamped the image on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock.

Using a Stamp-a-ma-jig for placement, stamped the outline leaf usng Early Espresso ink.

Using my very sharp Stampin’ Up! paper snips, cut the leave out.

Added a bit of gold Smooch to the edge of the top note and the leaf.

Cut a 4.75″ square piece of Soft Suede card stock and texturized it using the Harequin texture plate and the Big Shot Machine.

Gently brayered Soft Suede ink on the texturized card stock to bring out the design a bit more.

Added a 4 7/8″ square Early Espresso panel and a 5.25″ River Rock panel.    Cut the Top Note in half and put half on each side of the card front.

Using the Crop o dile, added a large antique brass grommet and then put a Pumpkin Pie Crystal in the middle.

Added the leaf and 4 gold brads.  Here is the finished card measuring 5.25″ square.

May the sun be warming you face and the wind at your back.

Using the edge of a River Rock ink spot, put the lines in for my waterfall on a 3.5″ x 7″ piece of River Rock card stock.

Sponged River Rock ink around the outside of the the waterfall.   This brings out the waterfall and makes it seem much lighter in color.

Sponged Baja Breeze ink at the top of the card stock.

Using a Basic Black marker, colored in just the tree (excluded the pot on the stamp) and stamp the tree repeatedly, attaching the trees together on the right side so they look like they are hanging down.  Note:  ignore the white tree at the top of the card stock.  I tried to stamp the trees in white first, but they did not show up well.

Colored in the tree trunks with the brush end of a Basic Black marker.

Colored in all of the leafy areas using a Certainly Celery marker.  Added White Gel Pen highlights to the tops of the leaves.  Also added white gel pen highlights within the waterfall.

Added Basic Black marker to the bottom of some of the leafy bunches to create some depth in the trees.

Added more White Gel pen highlights to the leafy areas and highlighted the tree trunks.

Added a Cherry Cobber and River Rock panels.     Also added Silver Brads to the corners of the main image panel, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding to the bottom of the card and a Jumbo Silver Grommet to the ribbon.

Here is the finished card measuring 4″ x 8.5″.

May your day be nothing but cool or kool.  🙂

I’m off to take my Grand Daughter to the local Teahouse for Desert and Tea and then to the movies to see the Zoo Keeper.

Until my next post. . . . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle
