Sponge River Rock ink in the middle of a 4″ square piece of Whisper White card stock.

Sponged Sahara Sand ink around the outside of the River Rock ink.

Sponged Baja Breeze ink around the edges of the card stock.

Stamped the leaf from the Stampin’ Up! set Summer Solstice using River Rock ink.

Stamped the Butterfly from the Stampin’ Up! set Summer Solstice using Basic Black ink.

Drew to lines using a Chocolate Chip marker.  These will be the branches for the leaves.

Stamped the leaves so the stems met the branchs using Soft Suede ink.

Colored in the butterfly using a Bashful Blue marker.

Added Pacific Point marker to the wings.

Blended the two colors together by coloring over them using the Bashful Blue marker again.

Added a bit of Not Quite Navy marker to the edges of the wings.

Colored the leaves in using a River Rock marker.

Added Baja Breeze marker to the leaves.

Colored over the leaves again using the River Rock marker to blend.

Cut a 4 7/8″ x 6.4″ Baja Breeze card stock, a 3″ x 4.75″ piece of Designer Series Paper (ripped on the right side), sponged Pacific Point ink on the edges of the panels and main image panel.

Added Pacific Point marker to the leaves.

Added a shadow using the Sahara Sand marker.

Layered a Not Quite Navy panel, the Baja Breeze Panel, designer series panel and a River Rock panel that has been cut into a “V” at the end.

Added Hemp Twine to the main image panel and popped up the panel using Stampin’ Demensionals.

Stamped one of the butterflies on River Rock card stock, twice using a Basic Black marker to load the image.

Added Bashful Blue and Pacific Point marker to the butterflies.

I wanted the middle of the butterflies to be lighter so I colored in the middles using a White Gel pen and then colored over the white gel pen using the Bashful Blue marker.

Punched out the butterflies using a 3/4″ x 15/16″ oval punch.  Sponged Pacific Point ink around the edges of each.

Using the Crop-o-dile, added gold eyes.

Tied the tags onto the twine ends and then popped up the tags using Stampin’ Demensionals.

Added a strip of Not Quite Navy card stock to the right hand side of the card and pierced holes in the strip using the Stampin’ Up! mat pack and piercing tool.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be filled with fun and laughter.

Until my next post. . . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle

Now for a funny, lol.

HOW TO BE GRACIOUS

Jennifer’s wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen
her excitement – not even her parent’s nasty divorce.

Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear, and would be the
  best-dressed mother-of-the-bride ever!

A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her father’s
new, young wife had bought the exact same dress as her mother!

Jennifer asked her father’s new young wife to exchange it, but she
refused.  ”Absolutely not! I look like a million bucks in this dress,
and I’m wearing it,” she replied.

Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, ”Never mind
sweetheart. I’ll get another dress. After all, it’s your special day.”

A few days later, they went shopping, and did find another
  gorgeous dress for her mother.

When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, ”Aren’t
you going to return the other dress? You really don’t have another
occasion where you could wear it.”

Her mother just smiled and replied, ”Of course I do, dear…..I’m
wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night BEFORE the wedding.”

(NOW I ASK YOU – IS THERE A WOMAN OUT THERE, ANYWHERE, WHO  WOULDN’T ENJOY THIS STORY?
)

Women are Angels.
And when someone breaks our wings….
We simply continue to fly ……… on a broomstick….. We are flexible….

Rooster Weathervane – Tutorial #427

Howdy!   I’ve had this little country creation rattling around in my head for almost a week now.  Thought it was time to get it on card stock and share it with you.  But first, another segment of Stampin’ Up! Alaska cruise pics.  🙂

Myself and my friend and fellow demonstrator, Kristin Kortonick sporting our Stampin’ Up! cruise jackets while viewing the icy Hubbard Glacier.

Everyone had to wake early in the morning not to miss the wonders as the ship approached the Glacier.

So here we are out on deck in the early morning looking at the mountains with fog circling their tops and icy blue chunks of ice floating by.  It was amazing!

You can see the Glacier in between the two mountains in the pics below.

Already the largest tidewater glacier in North America, Hubbard Glacier continues to press forward each year. This one of Alaska’s more than 5,000 glaciers has a recorded fastest speed of just less than 5.5 feet per hour.

Below are some more pics of other views from that morning.

Now, I hear that Rooster crowing.  Time to get on with today’s tutorial.

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Countryside
Paper: Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Whisper White, Cajun Craze and Designer Series Paper
Ink: Stampin’ Up! More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze and Bravo Burgundy
Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponge, Spinner, brad, Pumpkin Pie Ribbon, Mat Pack, Piercing Tool, Brayer, 1 3/4″ circle Punch, Post it note, Decorative Label Punch, Basic Black marker, White Gel Pen
Techniques: Brayering, masking, silhouette, faux stitching

On a 2.75″ x 5.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock, masked the sun using a 1 3/4″ circle punched from the sticky part of a post it note.

Brayered Pumpkin Pie on the top of the card stock.

Brayered Cajun Craze ink at the top of the card stock.

Brayered Bravo Burgundy ink at the top of the card stock.

Removed the circle mask and sponged More Mustard ink in the sun shape.

Stamped the rooster from the Stampin’ Up! Countryside set by coloring just the rooster in on the stamp using a Basic Black marker.  I omitted the grassy area of the stamp.

Colored in the image using the Basic Black marker.  This created a silhouette.

Added a Stampin’ Up! spinner and brad, drew the legs of the rooster down to meet the spinner using the Basic Black marker.

Cut a piece of Basic Black card stock in a square.  Angled it and glued it on the card stock.

Flipped the main image panel over on my cutter and cut the square piece of card stock off to make it even with my main image panel edges.

Cut a 3″ x 5.75″ piece of Basic Black card stock.   Also punched a label punch out of Basic Black card stock.  Cut the label in half and glued each half to the bottom and top of the Basic Black panel.

Added another Basic Black panel, Cajun Craze panel, designer series paper and a piece of Pumpkin Pie ribbon.

Using a piercing tool and mat pack, pierced holes in the top and bottom of the main image panel.

Drew white gel pen lines between the pierced holes to create faux stitching.

Here is the finished project measuring 4″ x 8.5″.

May your day be something to crow about!

I’m off to prepare for my Colorado Springs, CO brayer workshops, Whoohooo!

Until my next post. . . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle

Escape – Tutorial #426

I have a little tropical number for you today teaming up the Stampin’ Up! stamp sets Uncharted Territory and Plant Hope.  But first, as promised, I have some more photos from my Stampin’ Up! all expense paid cruise that I earned and just got back from.

My trip started out by being flown to Seattle, Washington.   Russ and I arrived in Seattle the morning of the cruise so we didn’t get to hang out in Seattle very long, rats!  I’ll have to plan that a bit differently my next trip.

We boarded the Celebrity Infinity Cruise Ship and made ourselves at home.  That’s me chilling on our room balcony.   The balcony was pure heaven.  One morning I was out there and low and behold there was an Orca not far from the ship showing us his magnificent spout and tail.   I couldn’t pull myself way from the railing in order to grab my camera.  I was just to in awe to move.

Seriously, one of the major highlights of the trip was to get to hang out with Stampin’ Up! CEO, Shelli Gardner and the Vice President of Demonstrator Relations at Stampin’ Up!, Pam Morgan a bit.

Pam Morgan somehow escaped our camera the entire trip, but she is just the warmest most wonderful person ever, so I wanted to mention her and how much I enjoyed getting some time with her.

Poor Shelli, Russ and I just returned from our fishing excursion when we got this photo op with Shelli.   I’m sure she was wondering why we smelled like fish and camp fire.   Really Shelli, Russ and I don’t always smell bad, lol.

I will have more about our trip in later posts.

Now let’s get on with today’s tutorial. . .  . . . .

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Uncharted Territory & Plant Hope
Paper: Stampin’ Up! Whisper White, Basic Black and Melon Mambo
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Tempting Turquoise, Not Quite Navy, Always Artichoke, Basic Black, So Saffron, Melon Mambo & Rich Razzelberry
Accessories: Stampin’ Up! Sponges, Brayer, Always Artichoke & Basic Black markers, Silver and White Gel Pens, Post it notes, Big Shot Machine, Naturally Serif Alphabet Die, Linen Thread, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Techniques: Brayering, Masking

Cut a 3.5″ x 7.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock and brayered So Saffron ink at the top.

Brayered Melon Mambo ink at the top of the card stock, not covering the So Saffron entirely.

Brayered a bit of Rich Razzelberry ink right at the top of the card stock.

Masked the sky with post it notes and brayered Tempting Turquoise ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Brayered Not Quite Navy ink at the top of the water area.

Unmasked the water and put a new post it note mask just under the horizon line.  Sponged Always Artichoke ink on to create an island.

Stamped the palm tree by coloring in the leaves on the stamp with Always Artichoke marker and the trunk with Basic Black marker.

Sponged Basic Black ink at the post it note edge to darken the bottom of the island.

Stamped the boat by coloring in the image on the rubber stamp, omitting the sun using Basic Black marker.

Colored in the Boat base using Basic Black marker, the sail and rope with a White Gel Pen and the pole with a Silver metallic gel pen.

Darkened some of the leave of the palm tree using an Always Artichoke marker.  Colored in the trunk of the tree with a Basic Black marker and added White Gel pen highlights to the tree using a White Gel Pen.

Cut to 0.5″ x 7.5″ strips of card stock.  One from Tempting Turquoise and one from Whisper White.

Ripped the edge from the Tempting Turquoise strip and smeared it across a Not Quite Navy ink pad to darken the ripped edge.

Glued the Whisper White card stock strip to the back of the Tempting Turquoise strip and tor the edge of the card stock so it was just showing above the Tempting Turquoise strip.

Glued the strips to the main image panel.  Added a Basic Black panel behind the main image panel.  Added linen thread that I tied knots in, wrapping it around the panels.  Added a Melon Mambo panel and Basic Black panel.   Popped the main image panel up using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Cut out the sentiment using my Big Shot Machine and the Naturally Serif Alphabet.

Here is the finished card measuring 4″ x 8.5″.

I hope you get a little time to escape and enjoy yourself.

Until my next post. .  . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle

Stamped the Flourish from the Stampin’ Up! stamp set Baroque Motifs on a 4.25″ square piece of Whisper White card stock by loading it first with Versamark and then loaded it Pear Pizzazz ink before stamping it at the bottom of the card stock.

Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Note:  If you use clear embossing powder you can emboss in any color of ink that you have.  🙂

Colored the Bird stamp from the Stampin’ Up! Hostess set Punch Potpourri using Markers, huffed on the stamp and then stamped it on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock.      Colored the belly with More Mustard, bottom of belly and beak with Cajun Craze head and back with Chocolate Chip.

Made a dot for the bird’s eye after stamping it using a Basic Black marker.

Punched the Bird out using the Stampin’ Up! Ex-Large Bird Punch.

Put Versmark all over the bird and dipped it into the clear embossing powder and then heat it up with the heat gun to emboss the entire bird.

Back to the main image panel.

Brayered More Mustard ink at an angle at the top left side of the card stock.

Brayered Cajun Craze ink at the same angle not covering the More Mustard ink entirely.

Sponged Always Artichoke ink at the bottom of the card stock.

Sponged Early Espresso at the bottom of the card stock.

Stamped the Flourish again using Early Espresso ink.  Then wiped the ink off of my embossed image.

Added 2 Early Espresso panels, 1 Pear Pizzazz panel, 4 Early Espresso Photo Corners.   Glued the bird onto the front of the main image panel.   I then took 2 more Early Espresso photo corners and cut them in half.

Added 1/2 of a photo corner to each side of the card front.

Here is the finished card measuring 5.25″ square.

May  you feel the sun shining on you today.

Until my next post. . . . . .  .

Hugs,

Michelle
