Punched Vases – Tutorial

dsc03611.jpg

Here is a quick card with no stamping.  I stayed up to late watching Survivor and slept in a little this morning.  🙂

Continuing on with Inspiration week, this one was inspired by a  photograph.  I don’t know the artist’s name and the picture was not one I could cut an paste here, sorry.    Wish I would have figured it out before I did the tutorial, but here it is anyway. 🙂

Supplies:

Stamps: None
Paper: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, River Rock & More Mustard
Ink: Stampin’ Up Going Gray, Barely Banana, More Mustard & Bravo Burgundy
Accessories: Large Oval, Large & Small Flower Punches, Sponges

dsc03608.JPG

Punched Ovals from More Mustard, Bravo Burgundy, Barely Banana & Very Vanilla card stock.

dsc03593.JPG

Stacked ovals and cut the bottom & top of them off.  I cut them all at once so they would be the same size.

dsc03594.JPG

Shadowed the left side of the vases with the same color of ink as the card stock they were cut from with the exception of the Very Vanilla vases.  It is shadowed with Going Gray ink.

dsc03598.JPG

Masked the bottom of the card stock with a piece of scrap paper and sponged on Going Gray ink where the two pieces of paper meet.  I used a circular motion when sponging.  🙂

dsc03601.JPG

Adhered my vases to the card stock.

dsc03602.JPG

Punched large flowers from So Saffron card stock and adhered them on.

dsc03603.JPG

Punched small flowers from River Rock card stock and adhered them over the large flowers.

Assembled card and here it is finished.

Michelle – I made 3 more last night and posted them at like midnite or shortly thereafter – one I made I am really really proud of……thank you soooooo much for teaching me this technique – I am having soooo much fun!! Look at my gallery and see the elephant card- that’s my fav so far…….today I was making one and I got it all done and I just could hear you saying add some brighter color here so I ran upstairs and did and voila! Magic even w/o your brayer!! 🙂 I haven’t posted that one yet cuz I ran my camera battery dead with all of this…..you need to read the comments on my cards – everyone is jealous!! 🙂 (that I got to spend a day with the high and noble Zindorf!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 Happy Friday! You have got to stop. This card is so simple and yet looks so great. I am feeling very inadequate. It must be cocktail time somewhere, I need a boost.

Love this! The shading for the background is so simple and effective. But I never would have thought of it. Thanks so much….again! Wish I had time to try all of these things. Do you think all of these things up by yourself or do you search for things to try? Your creativity amazes me. And YES I’m jealous of Karen and her visit with you!*L*

So beautiful – I just love the simplicity of it. Now my mind is just swirling with ideas for my oval nestabilities and bigger vases and asian flowers! Must go play!
I have a wee request – and I hate to even ask because you already give us so much in your tutorials – but if it’s not too much trouble, would you be willing to give us the dimensions of the starting panel in your projects. I can totally figure out the rest with that as a starting point. Pretty please?

Love it! The first thing I said when I saw it was “how cute!” It is simple but still shows us how shading makes such a big difference. I’ve being stamping for years but I still learn so much from you blog and get inspired everytime.

    Thanks so much for sharing.

  7. I luv how quick & easy this card was to make, thanks for sharing!

Don’t you just luv how Amanda played them all last night in Surviver when she pulled out that idol? I luved it!!! Did you see how happy the jury was when she played the idol? That was a fantastic episode! Hubby & I are huge Surviver fans, if we’re on vacation we have to stop what we’re doing & go to our room to watch, thats so sad! But now we have the DVR so we can record it now if we’re away, yippee!!!

  13. As usual, it’s amazing! I am learning so much from you. I am working on giving my cards more depth and shading and learning to really look at nature and get a feel for shading. Your tutorials are awesome and well thought out. I have a blog and know how long it takes to create a tutorial and get it on the web, so my greatest appreciation to you for all the time and attention you give us by posting these!

  21. What a great idea! I’ve always got lots of little scraps left and feel guilty if I throw them away because there HAS to be something I can do with them! Now I know!

Also like the shading! Great little trick you shared!
