As I said before, I love feeding and watching the birds.  I’m a city girl (spent my first 43 years in the city) and then I moved to a rural town and I’m pretty much surrounded by farm land.   Well being a city girl, I got a lesson at the feed store, yep my town has a feed store, lol.  I went in and asked for bird seed.  I was promptly told you can’t grow birds with seed, what I was looking for was bird feed.  Now how did I make it all these years not knowing the correct term for bird feed. 🙂  Lesson learned!

Below is a picture of the new Stampin’ Up in colors I just received in the mail.  These colors won’t be available until the new Catty comes out.  I just couldn’t resist playing with them, so I used a couple of them in today’s tutorial.  Please forgive me, I just had to, lol.

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up Soft as a Feather, Best Blossoms & French Script
Paper: Stampin’ Up Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss & Whisper White
Ink: Stampin’ Up Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss & Chocolate Chip
Accessories:Stampin’ Up markers, Versamark pad, 1 1/4 circle punch, Sponges, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Clear embossing powder & heat gun

OK, so I was so excited about my new color options, I started this project and realized that I wasn’t taking pictures, lol.  So the first 3 pictures were staged after the fact.  Bare with me it is 4:00 a.m after all. 🙂

Stamped Nest by first loading the stamp with Versamark then with Chocolate Chip ink before stamping on a 4″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

Heat embossed image with clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Colored the sides of the nest with a Going Gray marker.

Stamped the leaves by first loading the stamp with Versamark, then Kiwi Kiss ink, then dabbed a few dots of More Mustard marker on the stamp before stamping.  I like a little texture in my leaves.  🙂

Heat embossed leaves with clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

Sponged some Kiwi Kiss ink on the top left side of the card stock.

Randomly sponged some Baja Breeze ink on the card stock.

Used a 1 1/4″ circle punch and punched the center out of the nest.

Flipped the card stock over and stuck on Stampin’ Dimensionals and stuck it to a 4″ x 4″ piece of Black card stock.

Glued the punched piece of nest on the black card stock.

Stamped the French Script Stamp on the card stock using Baja Breeze ink.

Stamped two eggs on Whisper White card stock using Baja Breeze ink.  Cut them out.

Lightly pressed eggs on to the Kiwi Kiss ink pad to give them a hint of green.

Assembled card and here it is finished measuring 5.25″ x 5.25″.

    Love your ideas and adding that special touch. I too was city folk turned county. Learned not to feed oats and molasses to the horse in winter, glued the horses mouth shut. Naaaa.

    I too love the country. I grew up in an outer suburb of Sydney, Australia and worked in the very heart of the city for many years, before moving to the country. We now have 150 acres about 20 minutes from town and have no neighbours. It is totally peaceful and I absolutely love it. Valda

    I love birds too. My husband and I always had feeders out for them – until we moved to where we live now. The wind blows so hard here, that the feed (see, I didn’t say seed) blows out of the feeders in less than 10 minutes! Of course we have a nice crop of corn, milo, and thistle growning around our porch! LOL Please enter my name in the drawing. I will have to try to find this stamp set with the nest. The card is gorgeous.

    I always look forward to your posts. I have been trying my hand at DTP lately thanks to your inspiration. My cards don’t compare to yours, but I love putting ink on the paper and blending it all around. I saw in a blog that someone recommended cutting up Nerf balls for sponging. I bought some and finally did that tonight. They really do sponge nicely! Who knew?! Thanks for sharing and for the chance to win some blog candy.

    Michelle I just discovered your blog this week when I took a class from Lisa at Stamp on Over in Sunnyvale, Ca and have spent hours looking at your cards. I really wish I could attend your upcoming workshop in her studio but I live in another state and won’t be able to return to Calif. till the fall 😦 I learned a lot from Lisa though and am going to try to recreate what she did per your inspiration. Your cards are beautiful.

    I just saw all the new colors today and I’m in love with that blue! The designer pack of paper is awesome…and the new scallop punch will be on my list too. I’m not sure about the Kiwi Kiss but your card is making me look at that color twice. It does look nice with brown.

    I’ve never tried the mirror image stamp, but your recent sample (I just happen to have the same MFT travel set) makes me want to give it a go. Your color scheme is wonderfully vivid. I love the clear stamps…hope I win some candy! Its only 11:30 on the 16th here in CA. Tomorrow at midnight I’ll join my 18 yr old son for the midnight premiere of the new Batman Movie…what fun. It is 2.5 hrs so I better get lots of sleep tonight!

    The color combination is very eye catching. I have a hard time putting opposite colors together so it is a good inspiration for me. I love all of your artwork, it looks like your images just jump off the page. They are truly works of art. If I could make my cards look like yours, I would have a hard time giving them away and would want to frame them all. Thanks for inspiring me to make more works of art then just cards.
