This Weeks Framed Moody Tree Tutorial, Blog Candy and Workshop Announcement

dsc06256.JPG

Beginner Brayer Workshop Announcements:  After many requests, I have added a Dayton, Ohio beginner Brayer workshop to my calendar for November 8th at Marco Paper.   Workshops are kept small so I can spend time with each person attending.  No prior brayer experience required.  The brayer will no longer be a mystery tool after attending.  To register, please contact Marco Paper at 937-433-7030 or 1-888-733-5239 or website at http://marcopaper.com/index.html .  I also have a Beginner Brayer Workshop scheduled for October 25th Sunnyvale, CA Please call Cranberry Hill to sign up for this workshop (408) 736-9151 or  http://www.stamponover.com/ .

Now about today’s project, I’m giving this framed piece away as blog candy.  All you need to do is leave a comment on this post for me to enter you for the drawing.  If you are getting this blog update by e-mail you will need to click on this link to leave a comment on the post:  http://zindorf.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2008/10/05/this-weeks-framed-moody-tree-tutorial-blog-candy-and-workshop-announcement/

I will use a random number generator on Saturday, October 11th to select the winner.  Good luck to everyone. 🙂

Very little supplies were used to create this piece.  I even used a very common household item to create some texture in the sky (plastic wrap), check it out.  🙂

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampendous “Winter Trees”
Paper: Stampin’ Up Whisper White & Basic Black
Ink: Adirondack Lake Mist, Sail Boat Blue, Aqua & Pitch Black
Accessories: Brayer, Plastic Wrap, Sponges & Re-purposed Garage Sale

dsc06262.JPG

Punched a 1 3/8 circle from the sticky part of a post it note to use as a mask for the moon.  Placed it where I wanted my moon to be on a 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

dsc06244.JPG

Brayered Sail Boat Blue ink at the bottom of the card stock.

dsc06245.JPG

Brayered Aqua ink at the top of the card stock.

dsc06246.JPG

Crumpled up a piece of plastic wrap.

dsc06247.JPG

Removed the moon mask and inked up my plastic wrap with Lake Mist ink and dabbed it on the top of the card stock.

dsc06248.JPG

Dabbed on some Sail Boat Blue with the same crumpled up plastic wrap.

dsc06249.JPG

Stamped the tree with Pitch Black ink.

dsc06250.JPG

Sponged Pitch Black ink heavily on the bottom of the card stock.

dsc06251.JPG

Sponged Sail Boat Blue across the top of the card stock.  Also added some through the middle of the card stock.

dsc06252.JPG

Adhered my main image panel to a white card stock panel and then a Black card stock panel.

dsc06254.JPGPut it in a re-purposed Garage Sale Frame ($2).  I don’t normally pay more than a dollar for a frame at a garage sale, but this one is solid wood and quite heavy.

Finished piece with  the Black panel measuring 5″ x 7″.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Until my next post. . . . . . . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle

  1. Michelle,

Ok, I love all of your creations, but this one is my absolute favorite so far. I love it so much, that if I can scrape up the money to come to your beginning brayer workshop that you added at Marco’s Paper, I’ll be there! To think I almost bought this stamp set over the weekend. I may have to make another trip to Archiver’s! Love it! Thanks so much for a chance to win this creation, its so sweet of you!

  2. Hello Michelle~

Thank you so much for sharing another of your beautiful creations! I love the ethereal quality it evokes. As time goes on, and I’m able to study your work more and more, I find I can analyze one of your cards and determine the general steps you’ve taken to create it. I call that progress on my part! I appreciate you continuing to teach us! ~jeanie.

Another beautiful creation! You continually inspire me to use my brayer and I hope to find some time this month to sit down and create some more pieces from watching your step by step processes. It’s time I did some creating for myself rather than just preparing workshops for others (which I enjoy as well). Wish you weren’t so far away and that I could attend one of your workshops! Blue is my favour colour so I “fell in love” the minute my eyes rested on this picture. Absolutely beautiful. Michelle, I’d love it if you could bring your workshop to Canada in the Hamilton/Toronto area … please!!

Michelle, I always print off your tutorials and put them in a binder for inspiration. You were the talk of my stamp club meeting yesterday. Several of us had bought the Inkadinkadoo Halloween stamps and we had lots of fun trying different things. We always have a project and soon we are going to try the brayering thing! Have a wonderful week!

    Michelle,
I LOVE you work! Your use of that brayer and color is just stunning! I’ve tried a few times to imitate via one of your tutorials and I didn’t even come close. *laughing* But I’m no quitter 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

Miochelle, your cards are incredible and a true inspiration for those of use who strive to have as much talent. I am always excited to see an email from you with a blog update. Maybe one day you would consider coming here to Colorado to do a workshop.

Michelle this is just so gorgeous. The colors are so good together. I have tried the plastic wrap and it did not look like yours, I don’t know what I do but trust me mine never look like yours. I guess I will keep trying, as I just love your work and I would love to win one of your famous cards. Thanks for the great tutorials..

Beautiful work! I try to do one of your tutorials every weekend. I still have trouble with the brayer but better luck with the sponge. I look forward every day to see what you have created. Thank you.

This card reminds me of the beautiful evenings that we get here in upstate New York. The contrasting blues after the sun has gone down and yet it’s not quite “dark” out yet.

Now that autumn is here, the evenings are clear and crisp. Thank you for such a great card that sets the stage of our evenings.

YEAH….a beginners class!!! I was hoping there would be one before the winter sets in and I would be stranded in Cleveland. My sister, our girlfriend and I are all ready planning our road trip to Marco’s. It’ only a 3 1/2 hour ride…A ladies play day!!! See you on November 8th!!!
