In The Mountains – Tutorial #231

dsc09856.JPG

Happy Sunday!  I hope everyone that is in the USA had a good time yesterday celebrating our Nations Independence.  My Oldest Son, Jesse invited Russ and I to go to the movies to see Transformers 2.  Great Flick!

I’m a gamer so I am looking forward to picking up the Xbox 360 game as well.  Oh, I guess I have let the cat out of the bag.  Now you really do think I am crazy.  I am getting hooked on RPG (Real Play Games).  I now have 3 game systems, Xbox 360, Wii and a Nintendo DS for when I travel, lol.  My sons that are in their upper 20’s say it is pretty bad when their mother has more games to chose from then they do.  Anyway gaming keeps me off the streets at night, along with stamping that is.  It is also funny when I go to the game store.  They always tell me what the games are rated, assuming I am purchasing them for someone much younger than myself.  My current favorite RPG is Fable 2, love that game!  How did I get on this Tongan?   Enough of me babbling about something that has nothing to do with why you read my post, which is stamping, so let’s get to the tutorial.

Today’s tutorial shows a paring of using Stampin’ Up’s Upsy Daisy and Thoughts & Prayers stamp sets.  These stamp sets work very well together with a bit of a brayered background.  I also extended the scene a bit onto one of my background panels.  🙂

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin’ Up Upsy Daisy and Toughts & Prayers
Paper: Stampin’ Up Whisper White, Bashful Blue & Basic Black
Ink: Stampin’ Up Basic Black, Old Olive, Bashful Blue & Not Quite Navy
Accessories: White Gel Pen, Brayer, Sponges & Post it note

Brayered Old Olive at the bottom of a 4″ x 5.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

dsc09838.JPG

Brayered Bashful Blue at the top of the card stock.

dsc09839.JPG

Brayered Not Quite Navy ink at the very top of the card stock, not covering the Bashful Blue ink entirely.

dsc09840.JPG

Riped a post it note in the same of a mountain and used it as a mask while I sponged Bashful Blue ink at the post it note edge to create the mountain on the card stock.

dsc09841.JPG

dsc09842.JPG

Moved the mask and put in a second mountain by sponging Not Quite Navy at the post it notes edge.

dsc09843.JPG

dsc09844.JPG

Removed the mask and stamped the tree on the right hand side of the card stock by first loading the stamp with Old Olive ink and then patting my black ink pad on the trunk portion of the stamp before stamping it.

dsc09846.JPG

Stamped the flowers with black ink.

dsc09847.JPG

Added White Gel Pen highlights to the tops of the flowers and the left side of the tree trunk.

dsc09849.JPG

Sponged Old Olive ink at the base of the tree trunk to create a shadow casted by the tree.

dsc09850.JPG

On a Bashful Blue card stock panel, brayered Not Quite Navy ink at the top of the card stock and Old Olive ink at the bottom of the card stock.

dsc09851.JPG

Used the same mountain Post it Note mask to extend the mountain onto the background panel by sponging a bit of Not quite Navy ink at the post it notes edge.

dsc09852.JPG

Assembled my card and added a few silver brads.  Here it is finished measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May the beautiful scenes in your life be extended two fold!

Until my next post. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Huge Hugs,

Michelle

Love the card Michelle, I did make yesterday’s card with variations. I think I will try this one today. I laughed at your “gaming” hobby. Back in the old days I was quited addicted to Pacman and Tetris!! LOL! I don’t know if I can afford another hobby, stamping and scrapbooking gets kind of pricey, but I love it.

I’m not much of a TV watcher type person but if it involves game, I’m in!!! Love all kinds of fun games; cards, dice, dominoes, buzzers, chips, Wii whatever! I even go to an all girl Game Night once a month! Michelle funny you should make a card that includes mountains! My nephew just got back from a 7 week trip to New Zealand and shared his slides with us on the 4th. They have beautiful mountains which has drawn him to move there in the not too distant future! Heart broken but gotta send him on his way with wishes for great adventures! So this is why your beautiful card is so timely; I plan to try my hand at this mountain technique and do a card that sends him on his journey. Thanks and, good gaming.

  4. Oh Michelle, there are more of us older gals out there that love video games than you think! I love the old Mario Nitendo games and the Wii tool I love playing text twist as well. Another great card. Thanks.

The more I see and hear about you the more I find we have in common. On Friday the hubby and I took the kids to see a movie at the mall – we had sometime to kill prior to the movie so my son wanted to go into the Game Stop store – of course I obliged cause I love to see what’s new in the gaming world. While the kids and I oohd and aahd about all the cool games (including a new Wii game coming out at the end of July – Wii Resort sports) my hubby waited outside in the mall – so not his thing to do. I don’t have my own DS, but I do occasionally (well more than occasionally) confiscate my kids’ DS’ and play my favorites. 🙂 I also play on the Wii late at night when everyone else in in bed sleeping. I am currently working my way through the LEgo Star Wars series (with my son). Our mission is almost complete and then it is onto Legos Indiana Jones.
Once again, i love your card and can’t wait to meet you in Nov. Blessings to you and May the Force be with You. LOL 🙂

  7. Gee! Aren’t you glad to find out you aren’t alone? I am a totally die hard PC gamer. I just managed to kick my Everquest 2 addiction by going cold turkey and ending my subscription. Right now, it is all about Fallout 3 baby!! I bought the game for my birthday last December, and spent a month of my life completing it. Now the expansions have come out for PC, so I’m hooked again.

I’m glad to see that there are more gamers out there. I was convinced I was the only papercrafting, crocheting, cross-stitching, zombie blasting woman out there.

  8. If you’re into gaming just don’t start Travian. I got hooked, addicted even for a whole year. Now I’m 7 months free and only recently I started to grasp to what point I was addicted and how it affected everyone around me. Bye, Kitty

  12. I’m a diehard PC gamer as well, although my first love is the text only games from the 90s (the Zork trilogy and Mind Forever Voyaging). It was so cool to start the game and read the words “You’re standing in front of dark cavern…”. Your card is gorgeous! I like how you’ve blended multiple sets into an awesome scene and I definitely will try your technique of extending the scene to the background layers. Thanks for your inspiration.

Simply gorgeous!! You’re not alone. I, too, like PC games but my choices are mystery games and board games, such as Scrabble, Word Yacht, Backgammon etc.
