Going Green – Tutorial #324

dsc03629.JPG

Well yesterday completely got away from me.  Ever have one of those days where you start something, see something else that needs done, start doing that, see something else that needs done, start doing that.  BUT YOU ARE NEVER GETTING ANYTHING ACCOMPLISHED!  That was my day yesterday, lol.  I am just sorry I did not get to stamp yesterday.

Doing my tutorials is a real commitment time wise, by the way.  I am asked frequently how long a tutorial takes me?  Well it takes me between 3.5 and 4 hours to create my card while taking photos, edit the photos, post the photos to my blog and write the tutorial.  It’s a wonder I get anything done.  But I always have prep work to do for up coming brayer workshops etc. on my plate so I don’t always get to stamp each day and just forget about my posting while I am on the road.  There is never ever time for that.  I hope you all know how very much I love you even if I don’t get to post daily.  My readers are the most wonderful and caring people out there.  I know this by the comments that you leave me.  Smooches!  LOL, I must be PMSing.

Anyhow,  enough of that.  Today I challenge myself to use some colors of ink that I don’t normally use.  So I used Stampin’ Up! Garden Green and Green Galore.  They are beautiful colors, but when I use green I normally go to Old Olive and Always Artichoke.  As you see below, I have many colors to choose from.

Note:  You to need them all.  🙂

Today’s project also sneaks in a stamp that will be in the new Stampin’ Up Summer Mini Catalog due out May 1, 2010.   Live in the USA and need a copy of the Summer Mini Catalog?  E-mail your mailing address to mzindorf@aim.com and I will get one in the mail to you.  🙂

Now on with the tutorial. . . .  . .

Supplies:

I started this project by using my Big Shot Machine to cut two Top Note Dies from Whisper White card stock.

dsc03601.JPG

Using the stitch pattern as a guide, cut edge off of one die cut.

dsc03603.JPG

Stamped the flower from the Stampin’ Up! Bloomin’ Beautiful set by first loading my stamp with Versamark and them loaded the stamp with Basic Black ink before stamping it.  Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

dsc03604.JPG

Stamped the bee by first loading the stamp with Versamark and then with Basic Black ink before stamping it.  Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and heat gun.

dsc03605.JPG

Colored the Bee and the center of the flower in with a Summer Sun marker.

dsc03606.JPG

Colored the darkest parts of the flower head using a Blush Blossom marker.  Colored the leaves and stems in with a Certainly Celery marker and then the dark parts of the leaves with an Old Olive marker.

dsc03609.JPG

Colored over the images using a Versamark marker.  Heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.  Now my images can be brayered over and the embossed images will resist the ink.

dsc03610.JPG

Brayered Certainly Celery ink at the top of the card stock.

dsc03611.JPG

Wiped the ink off of my embossed images using a paper towel and then dried the brayered on ink with my heat gun for a moment.

dsc03612.JPG

Stamped the flower from the Stampin’ Up Watercolor Trio set (this will be in the Summer Mini Catalog) using Versamark only.  Heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder and a heat gun.

dsc03613.JPG

Brayered Green Galore at the top of the card stock.

dsc03615.JPG

Wiped the ink off of my embossed images using a paper towel.

dsc03616.JPG

Sponged Garden Green around the edges of the card stock.

dsc03618.JPG

Added just a bit of Basic Black ink to the edge of the card stock, not covering the Garden Green ink entirely.

dsc03619.JPG

Adhered my main image Top Note to the other none cut top note die using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  This is my favorite adhesive.

dsc03620.JPG

Used the Big Shot Machine and the Large Dot Texture Plate on a 5.25 piece of Certainly Celery card stock and a 2″ x 5.25″ piece of Garden Green card stock.

dsc03621.JPG

Adhered the Garden Green piece to the Certainly Celery piece and sponged Garden Green and Basic Black around the edges.

dsc03622.JPG

Assembled by my card adding a Whisper White and Garden Green Panels, Certainly Celery Ribbon and Gold Brads.  Here is the finished card measuring 5.5″ square.

May your day today be as productive as you want it to be.

Until my next post . . . .  . . . . . . .

Hugs,

Michelle

Wow, the colors you chose are fantastic, guess green isn’t just for Christmas and StPat, but for every-day! Love the versamark for the background flower really makes it pop when the ink goes on top. Tks for sharing!

Michelle – I used to have a link to the list of your tutorials but it no longer works. Is that list still available and could you post a link? I’m missing a couple of your tutorials and would really like to see them. Thx

Wow, Michelle – I have often wondered how much time it must take for you to make the tutorials. I’ve even wondered if you have to create one first, and then make it a second time for the tutorial – just to know color, placement, etc. but it sounds like your experience prepares you for knowing just how to get the effect you want to begin with. Amazing TALENT and DEDICATION! Truly a gift to all of us that we so appreciate. This is another beautiful card and it flabbergasts me how a darker green subdues the bright, vibrant green. Gorgeous combos.

Yes, all the time. In our house we call it getting “but firsted”. But first I need to this, oh wait, but first I need to do that, but first I need to do this… etc 🙂 It started from a Pickles comic showing the same thing. Thanks for all of the time you put into your tutorials!! I’m sure we all really appreciate it 🙂

Hi Michelle, I am very impressed with your work. I am a first time blogger so hope this works. Your use of black on the edge of the card is brilliant. The way you have set out your tutorial notes and pictures make it very easy to understand and follow what to do. Thank you for shareing your knowledge so beautifully. I can’t wait to try out these techniques. Pauline from Sydney Australia.

What a gorgeous card!! I love that beautiful flower, it catches my eye every time:) I’ve been visiting your site daily and all I ever saw was the April 15 post until today, but now I see you have been posting since April 15. I wonder why I couldn’t see them. My computer automatically refreshes whenever I visit a site.

I love your two pups and love that you adopted them 🙂

So sorry I’m late getting comments posted. I don’t even have the excuse that I was in travel status or doing tutorials!!! Just been enjoying the beautiful outdoors as the weather here is perfect and the wildflowers are abundant and after 5 years of drought conditions, we feel as if we are in heaven! Anyway, what a glorious surprise to find this beauty on your blog. How gorgeous can this get???? You have made me consider some of the colors of ink I happen not to use for some reason. They are all beautiful, just don’t enter my little narrow mind! Thanks again for the inspiration.
