Fright Night Collage – Tutorial #361

dsc05102.JPG

What’s Up!

For me it is time to do another Technique Swap card.  My Stampin’ Up Down-line Team and I do a technique swap every month and this months challenge was to do a Collage card.  So this is my submission.   Collage cards are fun.  As you will see I started out by bringing out all the things I have to use that would go together for this card.  I did not use it all, but it was a place to start.  🙂  The items in the new Stampin’ Up Holiday Mini sure made this task easy.

Hang out a moment and see how this piece comes together.

A personal Note and update before I get started:  Thank you  everyone for keeping my family in your thoughts.  My Mother still remains in the hospital struggling with Respitory and Heart troubles.  Russ’ heart condition remains the same at this point, no better, no worse.  He will be having a procedure in a week or so.  My Beautiful and Strong Sister just had her last Chemo treatment in her fight with Breast Cancer and now faces Surgery and Radiation treat.   Sis, you are the strongest person I know.  Continue to kick that Cancers butt!

On another note:  Please do not think I will be canceling my workshops.   I have a strong family that gives lots of love and support to those mentioned above so I will continue to travel and teach my Brayer workshops.  The workshops give my students and myself so much joy I just can’t miss any of them.  🙂  My next stop will be this coming weekend in Piedmont, Alabama.  Wooohooo!

Below is the products that I pulled out to start.  As I stated above, I did not use all of these items, but it was a good starting point.  To me the object of collage is to layer items.

dsc05082.JPG

Stamped the unmounted Stampin’ Up Wheel Midnight Musings using Versamark only on a 3.5″ x 5.5″ piece of Whisper White Card stock.

Here is a link to a post I did regarding unmounting wheels:  http://zindorf.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2009/07/28/tool-time-unmounting-wheels/

dsc05083.JPG

Heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder and a heat gun. I embossed this image to protect the white of the paper.  The embossed image will resist ink put over it in later steps.

dsc05084.JPG

Punched a 2.5″ circle from the sticky part of a post it note.  I used this punch to mask the moon.

dsc05085.JPG

Brayered Pumpkin Pie ink at the top of the card stock.

dsc05086.JPG

Brayered Elegant Eggplant ink at the top of the card stock, not covering the Pumpkin Pie ink entirely.

dsc05087.JPG

Unmasked the moon and sponged More Mustard ink in the moon shape.

dsc05088.JPG

Sponged Wild Wasabi ink at the bottom of the card stock.

dsc05089.JPG

Sponged Elegant Eggplant ink at the bottom of the card stock, not covering the Wild Wasabi ink entirely.

dsc05090.JPG

Gently wiped the ink off the embossed images using a paper towel.

dsc05091.JPG

Stamped the script stamp from the Stampin’ Up set French Foliage using Elegant Eggplant ink.  Wiped off the embossed images again.

dsc05092.JPG

Stamped the Stampin’ Up stamp Midnight Raven using Basic Black ink.

dsc05093.JPG

Stamped the stamp again on the Stamp-a-ma-jig plastic sheet using Always Artichoke ink.  Quickly flip the plastic Sheet upside down and lined the image up so it would be a reverse image and look like a shadow.  Rubbed the back of the plastic sheet to transfer the image.

dsc05094.JPG

Sponged in an Elegant Eggplant ink cloud in the sky.

dsc05095.JPG

Adhered the main image panel to a panel of Stampin’ Up Night Owl Designer Paper.  Ripped one corner of the Designer paper off.  Added Basic Black ribbon.

dsc05097.JPG

Sponged Basic Black ink on the ripped corner of the Designer paper.

dsc05098.JPG

Punched 3 bats out using the Stampin’ Up Bat Punch and Basic Black card stock.

dsc05096.JPG

Added a More Mustard panel and an Elegant Eggplant panel.  Adhered the 3 bats to the card front.

dsc05099.JPG

Sponged Basic Black ink around the top, bottom and left side of the card front.

Here my finished Collage card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

Until my next post. . . . . .  . .

May Labor Day Holiday be one filled with Family and Friends.

Great idea for a collage card… I don’t have these stamps, but I have some other that will work fine. I too have unmounted my wheel stamps and I use them more often now than I did before. Tks for sharing!

Why do you do this to me? I had already decided that I was not going to buy any more Halloween stamps because I have so many even though I like them. Then you go and do a card that I want to do so bad and the only way that’s going to happen is if I buy those sets and wheel. You’re an enabler…. that’s what you are, just a plain ole enabler. Thank goodness!!

Hi, Michelle. I love this card but no way I can try it, I have’nt got any stamps that approximately look alike, of even just same sort. That’s a pity.
I wish you all the best for your relatives, hope things will work out for them. I will pray for them too. Kind regards, Lucy
