Using a Stampin’ Up Not Quite Navy ink spot, swiped it on the top left corner of a 4″ x 5.5″ piece of Very Vanilla card stock.

Swiped a Bravo Burgundy ink spot on the card stock creating stripes.

Smeared Soft Suede ink around the sides of the card stock.

Swiped Early Espresso ink at the edges of the card stock, not covering the Soft Suede ink entirely.

Ripped a Post it note mask in the shape of a mountain.  Masked the card stock and sponged Soft Suede ink in the mountain shape.

Stamped the Cowboy using Basic Black ink.

Colored the cowboy in to create a silhouette.

Filled the bottom of the card stock in by swiping Soft Suede ink on.

Swiped Basic Black ink at the bottom of the card stock to create the ground.

Stamped the star in the Not Quite Navy ink area using Whisper White ink.

Sponged Basic Black ink around the edges of the card stock.

Cut a 4.75″ x 6.25″ piece of Soft Suede card stock and sponged Basic Black ink around the edges.

Added two Bravo Burgundy card stock panels and gold brads.

Here is the finished card measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be one to remember.

Hugs,

Michelle

This is fabulous. It would make a great card for my son! I may have to give it a try. You make it look easy! I bet it takes practice to get that look. I was too heavy handed when I tried it before. LOL. Thanks for another great tutorial. Hugs…

Michelle ~ This is absolutely gorgeous! What suggestions do you have for those of us that do not have ink spots (other than buy them, lol)? I have tried this techinque using the regular size classic ink pads, and I do not get the same beautiful effect. Any suggestions?
Thanks for sharing your talent and creations. You are truly Gifted!

    • Hi RaeDeen,

Definitely invest in the ink spots if you plan on doing this type of direct to paper. They are so very easy to control and the pads are raised a bit more than the Classic Ink pads.
      Hugs!

Being very patriotic and also being a cowgirl at heart this might just be my very favorite of your cards. I really do have to try something like this one!!! I bought all the classic spots a while back so need to use them. Thanks for so generously sharing your great talent.

AWESOME ~ this card sends shivers up my spine as I love to see patriotism in artistic ways. Your tutorials are so very detailed. If only I had all the supplies you do, I would give this a try. You make it look so very easy, but I know otherwise. Ride ’em cowboy ~ way to go!
