Horses – Tutorial #505

Hey There,

I bet you thought I have fell off of the plant since I haven’t posted for so long.  Well, in the last 3 weeks I had 3 trips.  Two out of state brayer workshop locations and a fantastic Stampin’ Up Incentive trip to Disney with my family.    Let me tell you this girl is wore out!

Here is a picture of Russ, Hailie (my grand daughter) and me in front of the magic castle.   I think the clouds worked in our favor for this shot!

I have a super fun tutorial for you today.   This one has a bit of Southwest feel, thanks to the Cricut Horse Die Cuts from the Yee Haw Cartridge.  That’s right I have a Cricut machine.   I resisted and resisted for years and then my wonderful Husband, Russ bought me the Cricut Imagine this past Christmas.   Like stamps I have been collecting cartridges (over 200 now), lol.  I know, I know, I have major issues.  I keep my cartridges stored in these Art Bin boxes.  Each box holds 16 cartridges with the books.

Anyhow, for you Cricut fans I will try to put some cricut projects up on this blog for you.  Plus, I will get to use some of my stash, grin.

Reminders before I start the tutorial:

The Stampin’ Up stamp and accessory lists are out.  Hop on over to my Stampin’ Up! sales page to check it out.

Cut two, 2.5″ horses out of Basic Black card stock using the Cricut machine and Yee-haw Cartridge.

Punched a 2.5″ circle from a Post it Note and used it as a mask for the sun.  Put the mask on a 4″ x 4.5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.

Brayered More Mustard ink, Cajun Craze ink and Cherry Cobbler ink on the card stock in the order shown below.

Took the sun mask off and brayered More Mustard ink over the card stock again.

Roughly sponged Soft Suede ink at the bottom of the card stock using a pouncing motion.

Sponged Basic Black  ink at the bottom of the card stock using a pouncing motion.

Glued the horses on the card stock, centering them over the sun.

Punched a Decorative label from Basic Black card stock and cut it in half.   Added the punch, a 5″ x 6.5″ Basic Black panel, 4.75″ x 6.25″ Soft Suede Panel and a 4 1/8″ x 4 5/8″ Basic Black panel.

Added 2 Antique Brads and 4 Gold Brads.

Here is the finished project measuring 5″ x 6.5″.

May your day be filled with blessings.

Until my next post. . . . .  . . .

Oh my…Michelle has a Cricut Imagine!! Woohoo. You have to love it when a hubby can be so thoughtful. Mine did the same thing while we were in Walmart. They still had the Black Friday sale price so he grabbed it and said SURPRISE!!

I love how you did the card. That is just gorgeous. You really do know how to inspire those of us that have limited imagination or creativity. I’m getting there, but only thanks to you and your step by step tutorials. You have really changed my life and taught me things in the past few years. Thank you ever so much!!

Glad you had a good time at Disney World.

  2. That is an awesome card! My daughter wants a Cricut. Maybe if she gets one I’ll get to use it too. 🙂

Trips to Disneyworld aren’t just for kids either. We enjoyed both of our trips there and to Epcot.

This reminds me of the evil horse at Denver Int’l Airport… You’ve flown in there, haven’t you? I prefer this dark version to the one at the airport with evil eyes.. lol

    • Cindy, I know just the horse you are talking about at the airport with it’s flashing red eyes.. It killed it’s creator. Such a sad story. I agree the Denver airport horse is evil.
I’ve flown into Denver quite a few times now.

OK… I feel a little better now. If I read your post correctly, you have been collecting cartridges… over 200 of them and never had a Cricut machine?? (until now, that is) I’ve had the machine — actually 2 of them for several years and have quite a few cartridges and have never used any of them. I thought I must be crazy… I keep thinking I’ll start using the Cricut one of these days. So, maybe I’m not so crazy… or we’re both crazy. Anyway, there’s still hope that my Cricut might just get plugged in someday. LOL!!

But, all of that aside, your card is beautiful! I always love western themed cards the best!!

Hey Colorado, plug that machine in and go!! I have the Expression and the Imagine. Love them both! Granted I only have about 52 cartridges but they serve me well. I also have an original blue Wishblade which I need to get up and running also. Between the 3 cutting machines one can get silly and cut the day and night away. Plus I have the Gypsy, and it is a wonderful addition. I can plan out my cuts, save them and cut later on. I took the Imagine & Gypsy in our travel trailer to Florida for 4 months. I was able to sit outside and cut just about every day while we were there. On the rainy days, I just printed out the photos that I took and set up the cuts on the Gypsy. Good thing too, since we went to Harry Potter World over at Universal Studios and had a really good time there. I am back home now and cutting away so I can get all my stuff scrapbooked at my scrap club.

      Have fun!

Disney would be so much fun with the Grandchildren along. 🙂 Looks like you all had a good time.
Lots of horse lovers around I could make this card for. Great tutorial as always.

Gorgeous! I love the sunset scene you created behind the horses, Michelle! Congrats on the Disney trip and so glad you had a wonderful time! Hope you have some downtime to yourself now and can create away with your brayer, ink and stamps (and your Cricut). 🙂

  7. Howdy would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re using? I’m going to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a difficult time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique. P.S My apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
